    Thank you for this. I can't NOT dive into a pool!! I'd be having too much fun being a mermaid and tanning. Doing all the wrong things lol. The kid comes out of me on vacation hehe!

      LOL...it's easy for me, I can't swim. So the thought of completely letting go in the pool scares me. I tipped over trying to get on that float, lol and fell completely in the water. The water got into my nose...I was through. I am glad to know how much fun you have in the pool. Enjoy!!

    This is a GREAT VIDEO! We are hair twins! My low porosity areas are the same as yours and out curl pattern is similar. I swim almost every day and was looking to see if there was a better way to take care of my hair. I wet my hair and apply conditioner before my swim, and I rinse, wash , and deep condition after every swim. While my hair felt good, I always had the frizzy area in my low porosity area. By watching your other videos I see how rake and comb through method and applying the gel after the conditioner while hair is wet. 🤯🤯🤯 MIND BLOWN hair look AMAZING even my low porosity areas. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, this was the missing piece I need to help me keep my length.

    Your nice and gentle with your hair. That is where I lose most of my hair is from over manipulation. I need to slow it down. Thank you for another great video. Also What are your thoughts on saturating your hair with clean water then adding conditioner before swimming. The thinking is that your hair is fully saturated already therefore swim water can not penetrate.

    Great recommendations for protecting the hair. Thx for the video. I would also recommend covering your hair with hair wraps when touring on vacation. Even in the city it can be a great way to protect your beautiful hair from the environment.

    Wow Abena your hair has grown! It's beautiful!!! 😍 Thanks for the video! Question: Is there a reason why you used the SM low po detangler rather than the wonder curl butter than love pudding? Would it not work for protection during vacation? Thanks.

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Judith! I chose the SM Low Po detangler for a couple of reasons.
      1. I use it when I lock or plait my hair...it's great for braids and twists because it keeps the hair soft and moisturized very well in these styles.
      2. It's very thick so it serves well as a barrier for the chlorine and sea salt water.
      3. I always use the Wonder Curl Butter Than Love Pudding with the WC Get Set Hair Jelly for my washngo styling, so I preserve it to use when styling my hair in the washngo.
      4. I am sure the WC Pudding would work, but for this purpose it's more economically and logistically better to use a product like the detangler or a conditioner that is thick and creamy that you can apply several nights in a row without running out of it.
      I have nothing but love for both the WC Pudding and the SM Lo Po detangler. Thank you for your question!

    Thanks Abena. .I just love your videos. I have heard it's a good idea to wet your hair before getting into the pool (as most resort pools have showers to make your body accustomed to the water temperature) so your hair is saturated with tap water and won't allow but only a small amount of chlorine into the hair shaft. Some beaches have showers too. Also do you think cowashing each night is too harsh or just rinsing thoroughly under the shower and doing a moisturizing leave in is best. When I go on vacation I swim full immersion. I normally do not swim every day but I want to be prepared just in case. Thanks again!

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tawyna, you're welcome! Our hair gets dry almost immediately after being wet if we do not follow up with conditioning/moisturizing. It is best to apply a conditioning product as I did, plus add oils (like coconut oil) that will not penetrate the hair but rather sit on it to seal in the moisture and therefore, block some of chlorine and salt. As for cleansing, you can purchase shampoo specifically designed for removing chlorine. If you are fully immersing your hair in the chlorine water you should remove it with the proper cleanser and follow up with heavy conditioning and oils before you reenter the chlorine.

    Hi I'm have LP hair and I used to live in the Carbbean but I recently moved to Texas. In Texas, I'm constantly in AC which causes my hair to dry really quickly and i'm having trouble with my hair. confused help!!

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may want to consider protective styling as well. You can always try styling with a stylish head wraps to minimize the exposure to the AC.

    Can the Damage Remedy line be used weekly?

  • @christine1962ful
    @christine1962ful 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Noticing your point about to your LP crown area being to close to the dryer can make it fry, would this be the oppsite effect with the steamer? Hence, getting more moisture? Also, why nit use a heavy butter (or dare i say petroleum jelly?) as a sealant to combat the entry of chlorine or seasalt water as well as the bun?

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I chose the SM Lo Po detangler specifically because while it's on my hair it is very moisturizing. So from the time I reapply to the time it gets wet again my hair is getting some good moisture. Not just a barrier from the elements. If I were going for full immersion in the pool each day I would consider using heavier oils and butter maybe even product containing silicones.

    How do you or what are the daily steps you take to keep your wash n go fresh and moisturized?

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maintaining my washngo starts with well moisturized hair on wash day which always includes deep conditioning. I cover my hair at night with my satin scarf. I Keep the scarf on and add my satin lined shower cap when I take showers. Basically, I keep it from getting wet until I wash it a week later.

    Would you recommend this same technique every day if you're swimming in chlorine and salt water each day?

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ardale Shepherd yes I do. Your hair should be already saturated with product so no more liquid can penetrate.

    • @Ardale007
      @Ardale007 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Embrace Natural Beauty. Thank you for responding. To clarify, you are actually "washing" your hair with shampoo each day while on vacation? My plan was to simply "rinse" the chlorine and salt water out of my hair each day (6 days), coat my hair with a leave-in daily, and follow up with a "complete" wash and deep treatment once returning home. In your professional opinion, would you recommend this for the health of my hair?

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ardale Shepherd hey in response to your follow up question, I did not shampoo my hair during vacation. I just added more product. But remember, I didn’t emerge my hair in water every day. If you rinse your hair every day do it with a conditioner. And yes, add more leave in when you retwist your hair. This is the perfect situation to have product build up. It will serve to block moisture absorption.

      My dear, that is part of the journey of discovering your own natural hair. Apart from working with a professional, who can make on the spot recommendations specific to how your hair is responding to treatment and techniques, I suggest you gleam from my videos what is working for my low porosity hair and the explanations I share here and on periscope. I am in the midst of changing my products around to better address the needs of my low and high porosity sections of hair. The most recent videos, including today I share which products I am currently using. Also, when I chat with naturalistas on periscope I asked them to share which moisturizers work best for them. That video replay is also available on my channel and the list of products are on my website, embracenaturalbeauty.com I hope this helps you and others who have the same question.

      I really appreciate for responding, I did watch all the vedio Between I discovered your chenal a few weeks ago trust me I watch each single of your video which means took me more than a week, I ask you the question is because if you have any recently liked or best product you want share, You are just an Angeal sent to me from God seriously I have been Start my natural hair jorny with a big chop 5 month ago, and when I found you I was like she is my blessing lol thank you agian, I really Appreciate so much for sharing your thought, you are simply kind, God bless you.

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty

      Oh, I combed it alright...LOL...it just was not part of the story. I wanted the emphasis to be on the condition of my hair in terms of moisture. If something odd occurred while I was detangling I would have included it for sure. My hair was fairly easy to detangle because I detangled it every night while on vacation, so there was less shed hair on wash day and fewer tangles.
