Dito sa Pilipinas, ang ginagawa namin 300 mm (=1foot) from the bottom of the beam.

    sir may questions po ako sana mapansin.
    1. pag may tie or grade beam po ba, sa top of these beams po ba ang construction joint? then from the top of these beams to bottom of roof beam dito po ba kukunin ang H/4?
    2. or kahit may tie or grade beam is from top of footing to bott. of roof beam po kukunin ang H/4?
    3. or walang cold joint sa tie or grade beam?

    thanks for the very informative video sir. May i ask po what is the effect of the abovementioned location of COLUMN'S construction joints on the overall performance of the building given that our structure must be built to have a strong column - weak beam behavior?

    • @PinoyConstruction1

      Hello Sir. In general, construction joint reduces the shear load carrying capacity of a reinforced concrete member. In columns, it can affect the seismic performance of a building structure. Strong column - weak beam behavior on the other hand is just a term given to an intended design failure in which vertical structure like buildings are designed to fail in a certain manner that will give the occupants a good chance of survival in the event of a collapse. This intended failure simply means that in vertical structures, columns are designed to be much stronger as compared to beams. In this regard, failure is most likely to happen in beams than in columns, resulting the structure to remain still standing for a time. Such time can be crucial or an opportunity for occupants to leave the damaged structure and escape to safety. Construction joints are unavoidable. Having these does not mean that columns are less stronger than floor/roof system ( beams and slab) having no joint.

Or mas recommended yung my putol? Please advise me tnx po sa sagot

    • @PinoyConstruction1

WITHIN H/4 or less than H/4. But just the same, saan po ba sa NSCP makikita yun.
