@@blackout8777 Austin has also said if he knew how the whole thing would end up, he would have told Vince at WM X7 to watch the stunner (aka, call an audible) and remained a face.

I thought Austin's best work was with Vince. Rock was really just a lackey at the beginning They they just feuded because they were so over.
I don't know if it's because we're so far removed from it but I love going back and watching this Austin heel run and his stuff in the Invasion angle. I remember not liking it at the time but going back a lot of Austin's heel stuff in this run is gold.
STARRING STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN!.............and hhh returning to his familiar role as............the guy who rides the wave of someone else's success.
I remember watching WM 17 live, something felt off with Austin around mid match he began to shift. When he used the Million dollar Dream, I knew he was turning. Heel Austin was hilarious, the singing , the cowboy hats, the hugs, the fits. Great stuff.
I agree that it’s just entertainment and should be taken as so, but comments like yours are even more pathetic that the people you claim are whiny. Your life is so meaningless that you have to defend pretend brutality against women.
That kinda makes me wonder how much farther they would of gone with the 2 man power Trip and what they would of done if HHH didn't get seriously injured
Austin had some great moments in his heel run here and eventually with Angle who he had some of the funniest stuff ever...very entertaining even though it was one of the worst moves at the wrong times in company history. That's how great Austin was...it was the wrong move but he still gave us solid stuff DTA SCSA 3 16
Interesting thing about the beatdown of Team Extreme, according to her book, having them beatdown Lita was her idea. She basically told Austin that if he really wanted to get heat, that should attack her and told him not to hold back on the chairshots. Apparently, she earned Austin's respect that night.
It should be noted at the time that before and after HHH’s injury, the WWE had a dearth of main eventers or midcarders; The Rock was filming The Scorpion King, Eddie Guerrero suffered a relapse and went into rehab, Rikishi was sidelined with a shoulder injury, Benoit suffered a neck injury that wouldn’t be revealed until KOTR, and Chyna left the WWE following failed contract renegotiations.
Triple H’s injury caused a butterfly effect in 2001; with him sidelined, TLC III took place at the last minute on the following Smackdown, and during that match, Benoit sustained a neck injury that neither he nor the WWE were aware of until King of the Ring. The SmackDown where TLC III took place is also where The Invasion started, with Lance Storm appearing.
I was a huge Austin mark back in the day, and I still am i guess! I loved the two man power trip. I know they were not the best tag team on paper but in wrestling terms they were the most powerful only exception perhaps being the mega powers in my opinion. I agree that the trip was probably nearing it's natural conclusion before HHH's unfortunate injury. I hadn't really thought too much about before about HHH's involvement in the invasion angle. I think Kurt Angle really had to step up at that point and he was fantastic.
Let's not forget that Austin vs. Rock WM17 also gave us one of the greatest vignettes of all time.....that promo video with Limp Bizkit playing was so Damn great!!!
I didn’t mind Austin turning heel, but they probably should have hinted at it wiithout McMahon at WM, just have Austin get desperate and take the chair to Rock, then introduce his McMahon partnership the next day. Also, I think HHH should have been more of a reluctant partner, forced into partnering with Austin by his father in law since he hated him. This could have led to an eventual blow up and major SummerSlam match if HHH doesn’t get injured
the thing i always found funny is, if one good guy accidentally hits another good guy with a chair or something, they feud, Austin accidentally hits HHH and Vince with a chair, and they still came out to help him keep the title. It seems like evil is more forgiving
2001 was a tough year with roaster holes. Rock was gone for months. HHH gets injured during the biggest storyline of the post WM season, and Benoit has to leave for neck surgery at a prime point where he was being elevated back into the main events, and probably would have stayed at the top of the card for the rest of the year.
Austin/ HHH was one of the best ideas the wwf had in that era & in their entire history. Much like the bands Cream, & The Police, it was disappointing to see them break up, because there was so much potential there. Stephanie cut one of her most scathing promos- probably her best work, tearing apart Austin while Paul was in the hospital.
I thought Judgment day 2001 was one of the great underrated B shows of the early 00s. Benoit-Angle in a 3 stages of hell - pinfall only, submission only and a ladder match for Angle's gold medals.
As much as i hated seeing Austin turn heel like that (Austin agrees), Team PowerTrip were pretty cool. They were smashing people left and right. Pissing everybody off like good Heels should. They held all the major Belts within a very short time period. It wasnt very long lived but it was cool for what it was. I always preferred Austin v.s. Triple H instead of them teaming up though. Another great video buddy. Love all your work.
Because none of it made sense. Austin went from raging on everyone because he got run over, to teaming with the guy who supposedly mastermind his rundown. WWF really phoned it in on that whole build by having it be Rikishi. When the crowd didn't buy it, they added hhh. The feud lasted 3 weeks with Austin getting hot shotted to the title. Austin-McMahon effectively ushered in the end of the Atittude Era and you can see the crowds start to diminish and the audience reactions die out compared to 98-2000.
Rumour has it that yes, the Power trip was going to end soon anyway and the match that got Triple H injured was to continue their falling out, and result in an Austin v Triple H match at Summerslam 2001 with the roles reversed from usual (Austin being the heel and HHH being the face unlike in 2000). However this injury prevented that, and with the changes they made to the whole WCW thing anyway, we kinda ended up with Kurt Angle taking HHH's place in the rivalry. I believe this rumour to be partially true. It makes sense that Triple H didn't just turn face in 2002 just because he got hurt, but it was part of a long term plan anyway
It would have come apart after they lost the tag titles. From there HHH and Austin would have been the figureheads in the Invasion Angle, with HHH leading the WWE and Austin leading WCW.

I'll probably get a lot of hate for this but.... Austin & Triple H vs Benoit & Jericho
One of the GREATEST matches of all time.
Very underrated in my opinion.
One of the few times a match had me on the edge. And I have been a fan since the 80s
Even without Hunter tearing his quad it was an awesome.back and fourth match with a ton of energy. But the injury made it even better the way he finished the match.
This is the best channel ever on wrestling, please don't change, I hope you grow in to more, but now wrestling channels are about judging the actual wrestling, about gossips, like they enjoy to bring down WWE in special, this channel it's history, every video you upload has story, a good point of view and a lot of heart. Man please don't change your channel... This is you.. this is your art.
Therapist: Light haired Undertaker isn't real, he can't hurt you
Light haired Undertaker: 14:30
The booking back then was insane! I miss this era 😕
To truely appreciate this match and to understand how big this this wrestlemania was, you had to grow up during early 2001 by watching raw and smackdown, clips on youtube do not do it any justice, its hard to explain, but everything about x7 was special, the build up, the promos, the the theme tune, total nostalgia,
This is how the NwO should have been booked when they came to WWF.
Great recap. The way I (want to) remember it, it had some great potential but sadly ended out of nowhere due to Triple H's injury.
They were 2 monster egos that could actually get along. It was special & it was sad the way it ended.
In hindsight, given that the Rock was leaving for four months to go shoot Scorpion King, it didn't make much sense to turn Austin heel.
Because it was leading to Heel Austin vs Face Hhh before hhh tore his quad , then the Invasion began
@@togucvinw7 both of you are wrong. austin said himself he just wanted to be a heel and do something diff
@@blackout8777 Austin has also said if he knew how the whole thing would end up, he would have told Vince at WM X7 to watch the stunner (aka, call an audible) and remained a face.
Watching the video, the idea seems to have been so they could build new babyfaces - Jericho, Benoit, Matt and Jeff.
I suppose they were trying to build another mega face. but in order to do that they have to actually win. kane, undertaker, benoit and Jericho with Jericho imo being the one who could of taken that spot the easiest but they didnt have him win. That spot eventually went to Kurt Angle but that wasnt until later in the year.
I always wondered what side Triple H would have went to if he didn’t get injured and was involved in the WWF/Alliance storyline?
John Reeves Williamson he would of remained with WWE and Vince probably would of made him the hero of the story so thank God it didn’t happen
@@poopsyko probably not. Rock came back after filming near the 2nd half of the Invasion Storyline and effective ended the thing with Team Austin vs Team Rock at Survivor Series 2001, then turned Austin face again when the Aliiance disbanded.
There's lots of clips of Lemmy forgetting the lyrics to his songs. It got worse as he got older because his drinking problem just kept progressing.
Man I love your videos you have been on my screen probably 80% of the quarantine lol just added my email to your website! Keep up the great work, I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!! Takes me back to a time with people that’s no longer with me today, I call this my wrestling therapy
Thanks for highlighting this. I knew bits and pieces of this arch, but you did a great job putting it altogether. Keep it up!
That was my favourite payper view of all time. Being a triple h fan my whole life and then he teamed up with the most popular wrestler at the time was like a dream come true!!!
This was the best part of Austin's heel turn teaming up with Triple H
MJF called HHH mouth Rushmore and hard to argue. Especially if you account for his post career career
Dude gave Rock and Mick their best rivalry in my opinion. I thought Austin's best work was with Vince. Rock was really just a lackey at the beginning
They they just feuded because they were so over.
I don't know if it's because we're so far removed from it but I love going back and watching this Austin heel run and his stuff in the Invasion angle. I remember not liking it at the time but going back a lot of Austin's heel stuff in this run is gold.
The Story of The Rock & Sock Connection
STARRING STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN!.............and hhh returning to his familiar role as............the guy who rides the wave of someone else's success.
Correct me if im wrong this is the last time hhh rode any ones co tails?
I remember watching WM 17 live, something felt off with Austin around mid match he began to shift. When he used the Million dollar Dream, I knew he was turning. Heel Austin was hilarious, the singing , the cowboy hats, the hugs, the fits. Great stuff.
those skits with Kurt Angle and Vince backstage were gold.
@@RKO859 I wonder if those skits are the only good thing to come out of the "Invasion Era"
There’s no way that attack on Lita would happen today. The MeToo movement would be at every arena they go to.
I agree that it’s just entertainment and should be taken as so, but comments like yours are even more pathetic that the people you claim are whiny. Your life is so meaningless that you have to defend pretend brutality against women.
@@JM1993951 lol no really you take the award for the most pathetic comment. Good lord.
Wrestling bio is hands down the best wrestling channel on TH-cam much much better then what culture Way better no question
Yo, who does your intro music? I was into that mix of Austin and Triple H's music 😄
@@Black-Circle is there a way to get a copy of that theme?
Can I get a copy of that theme?
@@Black-Circle I’d love to get a copy of that myself
Dude. Your videos are amazing. Thanks brother for taking pride in your work. It shines
That kinda makes me wonder how much farther they would of gone with the 2 man power Trip and what they would of done if HHH didn't get seriously injured
it was going to end soon anyways as they showed cracks already before the injury.
Austin's heel turn is what my boss at work said made it quit watching WWE and never watch again, that's how big a deal it was.
What could have been with these guys....a pleasant surprise posting. Keep them coming! We love ya!!
The quality of videos and the pure gold knowledge about the wrestling period man no one tops these videos brilliant work
Austin had some great moments in his heel run here and eventually with Angle who he had some of the funniest stuff ever...very entertaining even though it was one of the worst moves at the wrong times in company history. That's how great Austin was...it was the wrong move but he still gave us solid stuff DTA SCSA 3 16
Dude I am hooked on your channel! I spent all night watching these little bios. Keep up the good work!
I like how he says "rat-ul snake"
Also "brut-ul" (brutal)
2 Man Power Trip may be my favorite stable/tag team. It was 2 top notch stars. 1 a maniac and the other a psychopath.
Steve and Hunter, as 2 Man Power Trip, they were the anti Mega Powers, Hogan Savage, haha!!😂😂
Interesting thing about the beatdown of Team Extreme, according to her book, having them beatdown Lita was her idea. She basically told Austin that if he really wanted to get heat, that should attack her and told him not to hold back on the chairshots. Apparently, she earned Austin's respect that night.
Difference is People where turning on Hogan Austin was still loved and cheered Cena would be a good heal turn in comparison to Hogan
Taker- “Hello boys!” 😂😂😂😂
Woulda been sooo damn cool if Kane n taker won the IC and WWF titles man damn
10:30 I was expecting an impression of Vince McMahon haha, 'DAMN IT STEVE, OPEN 'IM UUUP'
I don't like Austin's heel turn, but by God the Two Man Power Trip produced some of the most diabolical acts in the history of scripted wrestling.
I absolutely love your work! Never stop!
Cant find this theme anywhere other than smackdown 3. Power trip down memory lane!
The wrestling Gods said “If we let this power trip continue , it will be the end of wrestling as we know it! We must take Hunter out now”
Let's not forget that Austin vs.
Bottom line is Austin point blank sniped a killshot into Pro Wrestling. When he turned heel...The peak popularity of Wrestling died.
😍
I could listen to you talk about Wresting for days.
keep up the great work.
This period was the peak of WWE for me when I used to watch it every week and in the UK we could watch the events at 2 in the morning on channel 4
That’s pretty dope..ppv for free??? Wow jealous
I watched all of this back then during my middle school days!!!!
Middle school it was out when we were in early elementary I googled the year

One of the most underrated tag teams of all time.
HHH craved the pops Stone Cold got. Never happened.
@NateNWarrior Not even close.
his pop 2002 is the biggest pop in the history of wwe even john cena the rock and stone cold know that
He did in 2002 plus theme song has a lot to do with it there's no theme song like Stone Cold Steve Austin's fans go crazy over it
Hater
@@kennethsnodgrass2607 Ohlala Sailor....No i Just never rated HHH
As much as i hated seeing Austin turn heel like that (Austin agrees), Team PowerTrip were pretty cool. They were smashing people left and right. Pissing everybody off like good Heels should. They held all the major Belts within a very short time period. It wasnt very long lived but it was cool for what it was. I always preferred Austin v.s. Triple H instead of them teaming up though. Another great video buddy. Love all your work.
I couldn't stand Austin and Triple H working together. It just didn't seem right at all.
Yeah same here. It was done just to give Austin heel heat.
Triple H didn’t want to go against a heel Austin because he knew Austin would get cheered lol
@@ronaldcole6101 they could have a match at wrestlemania
Thats the point
It did because the rock kicked their asses that year lol
Amazing video like always. I even go back and watch your videos again. Keep up the amazing work.
I honestly really liked Austin's time as a heel. I don't know why people didn't like it
Because none of it made sense.
One can wonder how the Invasion angle would have gone if Triple H didn't get injured and how long the Power Trip could've lasted.
It would have come apart after they lost the tag titles. From there HHH and Austin would have been the figureheads in the Invasion Angle, with HHH leading the WWE and Austin leading WCW.
