  • Join us as we lament and repent of our failure to love our neighbors in Palestine and Israel, and imagine a new way of justice for all.
At a time where our government is failing the moral imperative to act for peace and to save sacred human lives, those of us who come from Christian communities and the Christian tradition must own our agency and responsibility to be a part of the work of peace.
For too long, our communities have bought the lie that flourishing for some can only come through the domination and injustice of others. The ideology of Christian Zionism has kept us from advocating for mutual flourishing for Palestinians and Israelis alike, and has supported the destruction of communities, death of innocents, and disappearance of justice. In spite of its pretensions, it’s not been good for Israelis, and it’s been devastating for Palestinians. We must reckon with this reality. Doing so begins with lament and repentance.
We must lament the harm historically and currently being visited upon the Palestinian people as a result of weaponized Christian theology. We must repent our failings of the present, which have contributed to the horrific conditions we are seeing on the ground today. And we must hope together in the kinds of faithful witness and action that provide space for God’s kingdom of peace and justice, mercy and healing, to break in to challenge the destructive power of violence.
Join Telos and Palestinian theologian and pastor Rev. Dr. Munther Isaac for a service of communal lament and repentance, as we commit to the way of peace so that all Palestinians and Israelis can flourish with dignity, security, and freedom.
