If you have a good eye, you would have seen that there was a broken piece on the trace I did! 😎 Don't worry, there were actually two. I fixed both before I sent it to my buddy.
I’m new to working with editing lightburn files and so far you’re the only channel that’s been so simple and clear - thank you
Wow! Thank you so much! I appreciate the input!
I'm following your tricks from Switzerland, and your tricks are so helpful to work better with Lightburn.
Thanks a lot for your patience and your passion.
You're very welcome Claudio!
Explained clearly and perfectly , always look forward to your videos, thank you for all that you do .
You are very welcome Patrick! Thank you for watching!
OMG, I just broke my first two curves and joined them! It took me a bit, but with practice this tutorial will be a time saver. At my advanced age, this is a BIGGIE...
Woo hoo! Congrats! Keep at it Lucie!
Wow, Lightburn is so versatile and you make it look so easy. Thank you for all you do to teach us how to do so much in Lightburn.
You're very welcome!
OMG, I even shaped the design to my liking; thanks soooooo much, Lucie
You’re welcome 😊
Great tutorial as always Rich! I also use this powerful edit node function for other problems.
I like burning images on dried leaves such as maple leafs. Were the line of my image crosses the main thick stem that goes through the center of the leaf,
the laser will not cut through in one pass. I cannot increase the power settings as this will be too much for the rest of the fragile part of the leaf.
so, what I do is go into the edit node function and find the path of the line that goes across the part that will need extra power or passes to get through.
I break the line where needed on both sides of the stem, and when separated from the rest of the path, I select it(because it no longer is
connected), and put it on a separate layer.
You can then turn off the output of the rest of your project and are left with only that small selection you have isolated. Just a matter then to adjust the power or speed or number of cut passes to get through the thicker material.
This will work for any line that did not burn properly (not dark enough or even skipped, without having to go through the whole burn cycle of your
project again.
Hope this isn't too confusing.
Perhaps, Rich, you could do a video on this. You could explain it a lot better than I can.
Cheers my man....keep the videos coming!!
I think that explanation was clear enough Lance! Thanks for sharing! 👍
And this is why i subbed your channel Rich !!! Another damn fine tutorial .. you have a very calming voice too i could listen to you for hours .. oh wait ..i have !! mustve seen most of your lightburn tuts ;) you are an inspiration thank you :)

THANK YOU, I have been up against some of these issues myself.. Coming from Photoshop it was a little familiar but not all of it. Glad I found your channel!
Glad it helped! Welcome aboard!
big help thanks 🙏 ❤❤❤❤❤
Happy to help! 👍
Great job again Rich. I’ve learned so much from you, it’s made me more confident in my jobs I take. My cursor doesn’t show all the commands like yours did the (b- to break, m- for middle) so I didn’t know those, they help a lot!! I knew I-insert and D-delete and s-smooth, the b one is a game changer!!
If you don't see the pop-up with the commands, just pass your mouse over the button and press F1. That will open the help menu in a browser.
Good video Rich !! I always learn from your videos----keep it up.
I appreciate that! I'm trying Randy!
Nice one!

I can only say one thing legend
I'm till a student! You know what they say... we teach what we most need to learn!

So today I was having a problem in node editing, could not get 2 lines to connect, told myself wait, I bet Rich has a video on this, so as I am watching the video you said something about a line snapping together, well I checked my settings and boom!!! my Snap to objects wasn't on, went back and my issue was fixed. Thanks Rich for making these videos to help us.

@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy 👍😎
Nice. Didn’t realize light burn had node edit.
Oh, that's my favorite feature Aaron!
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy just getting into light burn with the ortur. Love your videos. I’d been doing everything in Inkscape and bringing it in.
👍👍👍👍👍
😃👍👍😃
I always have multiple problems..I used trace then saw broken lines (trace no longer available) so clicked the node and it did not give me labels yours did nor could I do anything with it. ltburn coverted from pdf. simple drawing...didnt have the letter index bd etc
You only get the index if you hover over the node edit icon Colleen. Watch the video again. With the trace, you have to use the slider to adjust the amount.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy thank you I will try again but it gave me a long list of the tools. The trace is greyed out after ?maybe making the .pdf a lightburn file. There are a million pieces to sequence , I keep studing to do 1 project!! Thank you for the unexpected answer🙂
I'm 70 years old and and no experience at all with laser. I want to engrave cutting boards , will Ortur pro do the job or what would you recommend. Thank you
Sure it will Mike. I have done most of my videos with an Ortur LM2.
My problem is I click node edit and click my piece but NO nodes show up! Why? I cant edit anything since there are no nodes. Please help.
It's in the video! The shape has to be ungrouped and converted to a path.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy It's already ungrouped. I am selecting a piece within my UNGROUPED project and the nodes aren't there. Hence my question.
Is this only for an image? I am trying to straighten out a cut line and it isn't working.
Just delete the points on the line between the two points where you want a straight line. Drag from left to right over all the points in between and then press the D key and the line will be straight.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy That's the problem it is a line. There are no nodes on a line to correct, only on images.
Well then select the line, click on Edit Nodes, and move either end (little red square) up or down to where you want it.
Rich, I guess I am a cheap old curmudgeon. I don't buy svg files because the ones I have seen are so bad I would have to spend hours straightening them up anyway. With the trace function in LightBurn you really don't have to. You may still have to straighten the graphic up a little bit but that usually doesn't take that long. I guess in the world today speed is everything and quality takes a back seat. By the way, do you have any good svg files for the seals for the different branches of the service?
Hi Kris, I am compiling them now. I uploaded the first Navy Patches file to my online store, but I have a long way to go. The seals are coming soon....
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I'm working on them too. I have the Space Force about done. I'll send that file to you so you don't have to spend time on that one. I may have the one for the Army done too. I'll work on one, take a break and then work on another to keep my eyes from crossing. I'll let you know when I am finished. I have to take a break from all things laser for a few days until I am completely done producing the county Veterans Day Event. Take care my friend.
@@krisknowlton5935 Thank you Sir!
Please Help…
I have a big Problem, I use lightburn for a week to check different settings and works perfect, since yesterday i have problems with frame and laser start point, so today i read the setting of the board with the lightburn option and now everything is upside down, when i try to move the laser up goes down and press down goes up, any ideas what i did? I uninstall lightburn and reinstall again and same problem… now i check with LaserGRBL to check the axis and everything is ok up goes up and down goes down.. i dont have a problem with left/right works fine like you see in the picture the screen is upside down but engrave and cut in the right position…
Please any ideas??????
First RIGHT CLICK the Devices button on the laser tab and see if that works. Check to make sure you have the proper Origin set in Device Settings. If you do have the correct origin, on the console tab, you can type in $RST=* and see if that works. If not, type
$3=2 and press enter and that will reverse the Y commands in Grbl. Check the Origin first! That's probably the problem.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy yes, you are great, was the origin bottom left was the correction, don’t know how I change to top left.. anyways thank you so much for all your help, i am looking for a job but as sun i have it i will patreon you…… thanks thanks again
My pleasure Juan! Glad I could help!
