Phenomenal retro style intro and great choices of music on this review! You really went above and beyond in creating this wonderful review! My mom used to play on this as a kid, so if I get this set, it will be pretty nostalgic to her!

I actually like the mini diorama's over the scrolling tv of the NES. sure it's missing a play feature, but I like that it shows a little more variety from the system's library.
would have been neat to have the diorama's swappable with the small 80's room, so you could have the appropriate diorama pop out for whichever cartridge you have inserted.

Totally agree, the biggest weakness of the set is the existence of the NES. Really liked the intro & soundtrack :) I think the pieces always got scratched, but these are so new and shiny, that the scratches are more visible. I think what's more concerning is some pieces cracking, which is especcially bad if it happens to a printed one.

I do want a LEGO SEGA Genesis, preferably the model 1! It brings back a lot of nostalgia for me, being a 2000s kid. I never was able to experience the 90s like some of y’all. My parents asked what I wanted for my 8th birthday and I said SEGA, so they went on Amazon and bought me the Genesis Model 2 with Sonic 2 packaged in with it. Eventually I got the model 1 trading it with mine at a garage sale! :)

When you took out the cartridge from the console, I really wanted to blow on the bottom of it, put it back and push the reset button.

A suggestion: can we split the new parts section into a "new molds" and a "parts with new prints"? It can be overlap with the new colors category but for me an existing mold with a print isn't really a new part. But maybe it is just my opinion.

    • @rkc62

I thought my 911 looks like someone used 30 grit sandpaper on it because of rough handling, turns out that's how new Lego pieces are in general.

  • @WizardOfOss
    @WizardOfOss 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Haha, cool editing! And great review overall. Pretty cool set and I love many of the details. And some creative building techniques too!
In itself I don't mind they didn't do a TV again, but on the other hand, how cool would it be if they had made one where you could change the inner parts for each cartridge? Would make it a bit expensive though....
Or maybe even cooler: the option to integrate a Raspberry Pi and have some special pieces for connectors and a controller, so you could actually use it....

I'm curious why you putting old parts with prints on it into new parts section, technically they are old parts, maybe add new section like new printed parts? You will just need to add new text New Printed Parts.

Also funfact: Atari 2600 had 128 __bytes__ of memory. Not Mega or Kilobytes. BYTES. Yes, it couldn't even store an SMS or a tweet in memory. And no, it doesn't had any vram like on our today's VGA cards.

What's happening around the 9:30 mark? Was it just a mistake that needed correction, or is there some sort of weird process to install the sub-assembly in the chassis?

In Hungary we had the chinese knockoff of the 2600 from the flea market, (but only after the socialism has ended of course). Me and my brother played the **** out of it, even if the games were (mostly) poor copies of the original Atari games.
Few years ago I bought one of these knockoffs. The seller was hoping that his kid would find that console as exciting as he did, but his kid was not interested in it (no wonder, he could play on his phone instead). So I bought it, and still playing it every now and then, and it brings me back to the past, to a peaceful time. Even if for a few hours.

  • @ichuk19

LEGO is still becoming more pathetic… For less than a half of RRP this set you can buy a fully working genuine Atari 2600. Not a plastic toy with 100 stickers around. And one more thing - from now you can’t put a logo of a different company on the minifig (just from the legal/patent reasons, minifig design is belonging to Lego Group and can not be associated with other brands). The same company is selling bricks with trademarks of other companies, even if those bricks haven’t been invented by Lego.
Sariel, you made a good video anyway. I’m surprised that you are still cooperating with them.

I'm glad I'm not nostalgic for this era. In my eyes this is just a big boring box that stands around and does nothing. This really is vastly inferior to the NES (which is a console I don't have any emotional connection to either).
Also the wood grain imitation in the front looks ugly as heck.
