Last story, why the fug would you want a .357 in space?!?! Can you say hull beach?? not even taking into account how notoriously inaccurate most .357's are, but wouldn't you want something with frangible ammo and less muzzle velocity?
Unlikely that a jacketed hollow point would breach the hull. If it could, any piece of space dust you hit would kill you. I am also guessing it isn't something he shoots willy-nilly any time he wants, as he seemed competent and practiced in its proper and safe use.
