Humanity in the first story was weak as hell. They let all those Xeno scum kill diplomats and then kissed their asses and made friends with the scum.

It was a diplomat asskissing story. Everything wrong is caused by lawyers, taxmen and diplomats.

@@kellyknowsdayway6517 diplomats are portrayed as actively suicidal door mats in that story. So much that this is a: "man, did your wife cheat with a diplomat?" - kind of story.
Also there are psychos, corrupt politicians, criminals and many, *many* other people, who make this planet a horrible place.

I believe that the main character was essentially given command of a war whilst treating it as an RTS game. He was a hero, but only because he treated war as a game.
