@@NotebookcheckReviews yes, my 2 friends own the 2023 Blade 16 and the Blade 14, both of them haven't received their laptops from Razer yet after being RMA'd like 6 months ago one of them had a spicy pillow the other dead pixels.
How is the screen in comparison with the legion 9i? I’d really like one buy a laptop with a 4090 that is not capped in regards to wattage (like Asus seems to have done?), a good processor (obviously) and a stunning screen. Since I love my oled Tv and monitor, I doubt anything else can satisfy me, which slims my choices significantly… any thoughts on screen blade 16 vs legion 9i and fan noice of both aforementioned?
I like using Mini-LED screens when it's bright because of sunlight or lights in the room. OLED screens don't do as well when it's bright around them and Blade is quite reflective because of its glossy screen. So, if you use your device where there's a lot of light, like near windows during the day or outside, I think Mini-LED is better. For movies or games with lots of dark scenes, OLED screens look amazing because they show deep blacks really well. Better Motion Clarity and response times are great for competitive shooters. But, if you're watching something colorful and bright plus HDR with higher brightness, Mini-LED screens look great too. I think the Legion 9i has the best Mini-LED screen I've seen. Blacks look really good for not being OLED. It's even better than the Blade 16 from last year because it doesn't have as much blooming. Mini-LED screens are good for a lot of different situations, but I just can’t forget how awesome OLED screens can look when the conditions are just right. This is the dilemma after trying both, Blade 16 Oled and Legion 9i. I think, you can go with either and it really depends on how you use it. You game at night mainly? Take OLED. You like to play during the day with windows nearby? Take Mini-LED. Fan noise: Blade 16's fans are always on, even in idle and when set to silent. This happens less often with the Legion 9i. On performance/turbo, however, both are damned loud, the Blade with slightly less dBs but with a higher frequency when played on a desk. Balanced, both are quite comparable and still quite loud, but you lose a lot of power. I had Blades before and they were quieter on balanced, this seems to have changed. That's why the G16 can be interesting if it achieves a similar wattage while being quieter than its counterparts on balanced. Blade 16 and Legion 9i only have 95-110w on balanced. About the Blade: It seems that the 4090 version is a bit quieter than the 4080 because it generates less heat. I only had the 4080 Blade.
Ok, this will be a tough decision to make now: G16 2024 with 4090, Legion 9i 4090 or Blade 16 2024 with 4080. All three have more or less the same price here. Performance to the G16 will be similar, especially because I tend to use the Blade or Legion not in Turbo/performance mode because they are too loud then :) On Balanced, they hover at around 95-115W. Noise level is the same as G16 with Turbo then probably.
After my testing with the Blade 16 4080 I share a lot of Alex said, just some differences: - The touchpad still has palm rejection issues, this has been stated in several other reviews of this 2024 model - The click is a bit too stiff for me personally, Legion 9i has a more smooth click IMO.. but on the other side, I had several Blades with a different tension, perhaps this model was not adjusted well - I don't know what they have changed, but the Blade 16 4080 is much louder this year and the fans are never off, unlike the Legion 9i 2024 for example, ... Alex, you seem to have a way quieter machine, perhaps it's due to the 4090 which generates less heat. Mine was more than 52 dB from 15cm difference, similar to Legion 9i. Probably going to try the Blade 16 4090 after this review. And the G16 4090 which is available now.
Alex, did you see a difference in reflection handling between G16 and Blade 16? Or do they share the same Gorilla glass coating probably? At least Asus says they are using Gorilla which is less prone to reflections.. Razer, no idea what kind of glossy coating they use but I assume it's the same than what Asus is using. It was quite reflective IMO.
@@scottdpeterstv Yes, it handles heat better than the Blade 16 2024 4080 at least. Temps are lower and surface doesn't get as hot after longer gaming sessions.
I’m really thinking to get this laptop. I have read few comments about very high temps and overheating. Did u had any issues while u were playing on it? There would be an Asus rog strix g16 with same specs but ips 240 panel instead of oled but asus has very bad coile whine and also very chunky.
@@moken-cf7vu It's even worse. In Valorant its literally half the performance of the Razer Blade. I have both here. Will return the G16. It also has many other problems while the Razer Blade is a much more refinded product.
I am absolutely waiting for the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 / 2024 / RTX 4090 Review! I am planning to use it to replace my MacBook Pro 2021. I want to use it as all in one device. Great reviews. Especially the noise samples. But would love to hear comparisons between fan noise and speakers. A relative reference point is always welcome when comparing specs that are audible :)
Aren't they limiting their 4090 to 110w or something like that? If so it won't be a good showing for Asus, compared to Razer's 175w. Check out some of the G14 reviews that are starting to pop up - the 4070 is running at 82w and showing to be quite a bit slower than last year's Zephyrus 4070. I'd expect similar from a relatively low TGP 4090.
I already did a lot of reasearch. I honestly don't care that much about the power limit. Either stuff is playable or not. I need the laptop for editing and production not for gaming. The maximum amount of vram is more important to me. @@b.c.b.-2130
@@b.c.b.-2130 Yes Asus is limiting the RTX 4090 down to 115W. But I don't care or need the extra 60W. I already watched every review and preview possible. I am more interested in the slim & thin factor while housing a RTX 4090. Also noise levels are very important to me.
@@Neekzu if you don't need the extra power and are more interested in the slim form factor, their 4070 will probably suit you better. The chassis for their 4080/4090 is thicker than their chassis for the 4070.
@@b.c.b.-2130 I know all of that already. But only 4080/4090 get vapor chamber. I want the 4090. I want 16gb vram. I know that it's thicker but its still thinner than a 2021 - 2023 MacBook Pro. And if I game, I want it to game as good as possible.
Hi I have an issue with this exact model that when I switch the display from Nvidia Control Panel from "Auto Select" to "GPU Only" or when it switches automatically via advanced optimus when launching games, the screen gets dim a little bit even at the maximum brightness level same as it was on integrated graphics. Are you facing any such issue or have you noticed it? (Let me repeat: Even At Maximum Brightness Level, the screen brightness gets a bit lower when switched to GPU Display via Advanced Optimus) Please help!
Go to windows, search "HDR" and adjust the settings. I also had some issues with my 2023 model and fiddling with the slider on the HDR screen fixed it.
2018 Razer Blade 15 still running. Battery bloated 2023 took it out. Cant play any graphic intensive games on it anymore without it shutting down. Fans probably need to be replaced as I just changed paste. If I could buy a 2024 motherboard and swap it into my old laptop I would. No complaints with screen, shell, trackpad, keyboard.
If I order the 2TB option, will there be an open slot to add another NVME? Also the $700 jump in price from 32GB to 64GB Ram is pretty high. Is that how much RAM costs for laptops or are they pulling an Apple on us?
How bad is the glossy screen reflection ? I am looking more to mini LED version of blade 16 as I saw the quality is almost similiar to OLED. I am worried on using the oled version in bright light, and that the reflection will cause the oled display to not look optimally.
Well, it is definitely noticeable, and the MiniLED will also have the advantage of the higher overall brightness, but I have been using the OLED Blade as my daily driver for a while now, and so far, it has never really bothered me.
Hey my friend, when are you guys going to be reviewing the HP Omen Transcend 14? It's in my shortlist with the G14 but I'm very interested in seeing how it performs, thanks a lot 😁
I got one, it’s really well built, I personally like the keycaps, and the fan noise is deeper and quiet than most (not objectionable), but they have nerfed the 4070-it’s running at 50w. It performs at a similar level to my Asus Z13 with 4060, and that’s also running a 50w gpu. Crazy disappointing.
Hi, thanks for doing all of this, I really appreciate all of your work. Hands down my favorite laptop reviewer channel on YT. The production quality is top notch, review is detailed and informative, keep up the great work!
Thank you for the wonderful review. I am considering buying one this year. Would you recommend an Oled or miniled panel for this model, cause I heard some voice complaining about the burning problem of oled screen (asus doing pixel shifting to avoid this, tho), whereas it seems the reaction speed is a real issue for miniled as well.
I'll be getting the OLED version. The vibrant colours that just pop and the faster response times of OLED is simply unmatched. Pixel shifting is on all current gen OLED laptop panels so the blade's got it too. I was torn between this and the new g16 but I decided a 115W 4090 + non HX CPU won't cut it.
Sir, could you please provide a review comparing the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 16 i9 4080 with the Razer Blade 16 2024 4080, both equipped with similar specifications? I'm eager to know how they stack up against each other in terms of performance, design, and overall value
Thanks for the review. It can be great for content creation, but the access price to 64gb (really useful under After effect) is really really high. I was instead looking for an Asus studiobook proart 16, but there was too many flaws according to notebookcheck. Do you know if asus is going to sell a 2024 version of it, or any other content creator oriented laptop soon?
Beautiful laptop, but unfortunaly far to expensive for me :( Do you have any recommendations for a good 1000€ office laptop? I might buy a HP Elitebook 845 G10 with a 7540U but I'm not sure if there are any better ones.
just want to chime in that my work bought last years elitebook and while it is a decent laptop because I got it for free, I wouldnt dare spend my own money on one. i would get a thinkpad carbon or a surface laptop for windows, and if you are willing to go mac, I would get a M2 macbook air. the HPs just arent built that well and for a work computer I think build quality is important
This purchase makes more sense for pro content creators since there's ROI on them. However when comparing it to the MacBook M3 max, it's a lot less expensive and you get more performance. Plus it's upgradable.
i currently got an acer nitro 5. but it counts as windows. i my ipad counts as mac, and my samsung phone counts as windows. was wondering where does razer blade laptop fit into all of this? is it a mac, a windows, both, it's own catagory? i say this because like ipad syncs better with macbooks, and samsung syncs better with windows. atleast that was my perception. i do own both apple and samsung products. but i wondering where razer fits into the mix and how it fits if so.
You guys need to remember this is a blade 16 4090. The G16 that was reviewed was a 4070 that is extremely underperforming in comparison which is as expected

I’m a content creator having a vtuber channel on Twitch and TH-cam and soon Facebook I’m looking to get a new laptop in the not too distant future and I’m looking at a 16 inch or 18 inch laptop from Alienware or Razer which would you recommend more for my situation
Sad this doesn't have thunderbolt 5... Smaller more portable laptops are even better candidates for Thunderbolt 5 because you could plug in a 4090 desktop class GPU at home, and then take the portable laptop on the go and still get decent battery life.
Hmm I prefer the g16 in 4080 over this… the difference in performance between a 4080 and 4090 is too small to warrant the price increase. Also I co figured this laptop in the German store … same specs as the Asus I ordered it would cost me 800 Euros more…
$4k laptop with one usb c port being non-TB - with an Intel processor - is unacceptable. I suppose that 4090 costs even Razer a pretty penny, but if a MacBook can have 3 tb ports and lower end laptops also have multiple thunderbolt ports, a $4k gaming laptop also should.
lmao they charge $800 CAD to upgrade from 16 to 32 GB of ram?! 1,700 CAD to go from 1TB to 2TB storage? 400 CAD to get it in silver instead of black? wtf are they smoking?
I've always liked the look of this laptop and felt that this is what the Microsoft surface should have been. But reviews were always bad and customer service was exposed too. I hope they make a turn and really bring the heat to Apple
Nobody should buy a Razer gaming laptop when Legion exists in 14 and 16 inch variants, including with OLED and Mini LED panel options. Much better cooling, quieter fans, more reliable overall and Lenovo has better after sales service if something does go wrong.
Great razer blade review Alex however I still think that the Alienware M18R2 and next years R3 with the refined better screen will be the best premium all around laptop money can buy.
I am at a loss here. The r2 is not even oled and the r3 is not announced. When it finally arrived, you’d probably have to compare it to the blade 2025, so this comparison is void? Or am I missing something?
@@DaClaymore Yes you are missing something lmao the current 2024 Alienware R2 has everything better than the Razer except for screen currently at a much less price Anodised Aluminium CNC milled unibody chassis cherry mx mechanical keyboard much better range of ports including 3 usb-c’s 2 being thunderbolt 3 3 usb-A’s a mini display port and a 2.5gb Ethernet port SD Card slot and HDMI 2.1 these are all much better selection and quantity of ports than the Razer blade 16 better thermals for the performance and longevity of the laptop with 4 fans and a vapour chamber with paste on the cpu and GPU way better compared to the Razer better upgradability than the Razer with 4 SSD slots and 2 ram slots the screen panel comes with Nvidia G-sync advanced Optimus and a mux switch better software experience from Dell/Alienware better customer service than Razer Need I go on ? Yeah okay just please stop talking you aren’t at a loss here and keep your opinion to yourself please.
He was simply asking you a valid question, no need to react like this just to voice your opinion. For myself, I do not think you can directly compare the M18 with the Blade 16, but if you would prefer the Alienware, that is totally fine. Live and let live! ;)
I’m still not convinced that the Alienware is a more premium laptop, as you clearly stated in your initial comment. To me it seems like it’s way more plastic and it the same sturdy build quality at all. Not sure if this comparisons make sense? Yeah, you’re getting a more potent laptop for less money, but that’s razer in a nutshell for you. Almost every other manufacturer will have better priced more performant laptops choose from.
I feel like all aluminum builds are a big mistake for laptops with dedicated gpus. Mac is able to do it because they dont get hot, and I really wish gaming laptop manufacturers would stop trying to mimic mac form factors. These heavily priced Blades notoriously suffer from battery swell due to bad heat management over time. Take the ProArt 16. It might be a tank but I would bet it's spacious magnesium alloy body stands the test of time better then the Blade 16s.
I bought 1 February 2024 and after 1 month motherboard issue after customer service diagnostic. They sent me a new one from china just received it today. Avoid Razer.

Are you talking from experience?
I was daily driving many Razer notebooks in the past, and I also owned a Blade 17 Pro before starting to work for the channel.
I only had a problem once, and they fixed it without question, even tho I was out of warranty ...

Fan noise:
Blade 16's fans are always on, even in idle and when set to silent.
I had the 9i before the blade 16 oled and the oled wins it for me. The difference in motion for faced paced games is much much better.
After my testing with the Blade 16 4080 I share a lot of Alex said, just some differences:
- The touchpad still has palm rejection issues, this has been stated in several other reviews of this 2024 model
- The click is a bit too stiff for me personally, Legion 9i has a more smooth click IMO.. but on the other side, I had several Blades with a different tension, perhaps this model was not adjusted well
- I don't know what they have changed, but the Blade 16 4080 is much louder this year and the fans are never off, unlike the Legion 9i 2024 for example, ...
Same decision for me. Any insights from the community here? Need a nudge in a direction 😅
I'd bet you of the 3 on your list the Legion 9i handles heat the best and will last you the longest.

Blade 16 4090 oled vs legion 9i gen 9? I'm torn between the two
Better display on the razer with higher refresh rate
what about the battery bloating? is that something they have fixed already?
I had that problem on a Blade 14 2016 :(
do you have a 4070 laptop review with a gaming benchmark like this that include warzone 3 resurgence benchamark
can you do a comparison of the G16 vs the blade 16
As soon as we are able to get a 4090 sample of the G16
@@NotebookcheckReviewsis it safe to assume, that the g16 will perform worse due to the cap in regards to wattage?
@@DaClaymoretotally. 75-80% of full powered performance.
No mention of the Thunderbolt 5? Or does it have it really?
Only the Blade 18 2024 will come with Thunderbolt 5!
Hi
I have an issue with this exact model that when I switch the display from Nvidia Control Panel from
"Auto Select" to "GPU Only" or when it switches automatically via advanced optimus when launching games, the screen gets dim a little bit even at the maximum brightness level same as it was on integrated graphics. Are you facing any such issue or have you noticed it? (Let me repeat: Even At Maximum Brightness Level, the screen brightness gets a bit lower when switched to GPU Display via Advanced Optimus)
Please help!
Go to windows, search "HDR" and adjust the settings. I also had some issues with my 2023 model and fiddling with the slider on the HDR screen fixed it.
Would have been my guess as well.
But I have kept HDR off
Is it also off in dGPU mode?
Yes it is off in dGPU mode as well. I will get back to you after checking HDR settings again to see if I can find the solution.
Is that how much RAM costs for laptops or are they pulling an Apple on us?
they automatically move your display to the 4k mini led option
@@victortoba-ogunleye4056 Yup, I already have it. I'm going to swap out the RAM, $260 to go from 32 to 64gb!
How bad is the glossy screen reflection ? I am looking more to mini LED version of blade 16 as I saw the quality is almost similiar to OLED. I am worried on using the oled version in bright light, and that the reflection will cause the oled display to not look optimally.
Well, it is definitely noticeable, and the MiniLED will also have the advantage of the higher overall brightness, but I have been using the OLED Blade as my daily driver for a while now, and so far, it has never really bothered me.
what's your lighting on your desk? (the orange one)
Does it come with AI functionality like the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16? That might be important for content creators...
Yes, it got a 4090 ;)
Hey my friend, when are you guys going to be reviewing the HP Omen Transcend 14? It's in my shortlist with the G14 but I'm very interested in seeing how it performs, thanks a lot 😁
I got one, it’s really well built, I personally like the keycaps, and the fan noise is deeper and quiet than most (not objectionable), but they have nerfed the 4070-it’s running at 50w. It performs at a similar level to my Asus Z13 with 4060, and that’s also running a 50w gpu. Crazy disappointing.
Very good content, it helps a lot. Could you do a review for a laptop cooler?

Thanks for your video! Even though it’s not a gaming laptop do you plan to review 4060/4070 Dell XPS 16 ?
Thank you for the wonderful review. I am considering buying one this year. Would you recommend an Oled or miniled panel for this model, cause I heard some voice complaining about the burning problem of oled screen (asus doing pixel shifting to avoid this, tho), whereas it seems the reaction speed is a real issue for miniled as well.
I'll be getting the OLED version. The vibrant colours that just pop and the faster response times of OLED is simply unmatched.
Pixel shifting is on all current gen OLED laptop panels so the blade's got it too. I was torn between this and the new g16 but I decided a 115W 4090 + non HX CPU won't cut it.
miniled 16 2023 version had been cursed with many issues, you can check an LTT review to see one of them in action
Sir, could you please provide a review comparing the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 16 i9 4080 with the Razer Blade 16 2024 4080, both equipped with similar specifications? I'm eager to know how they stack up against each other in terms of performance, design, and overall value
Which display is better for content creation? The MiniLED or the OLED?
OLED has better colours but miniLED has higher resolution.
It's very easy and much cheaper to upgrade your RAM after purchasing. Doesn't void your warranty either.
Would it be possible to review the 4060 16gb version of the Asus ROG zephyrus g14?
Beautiful laptop, but unfortunaly far to expensive for me :(
Do you have any recommendations for a good 1000€ office laptop? I might buy a HP Elitebook 845 G10 with a 7540U but I'm not sure if there are any better ones.
just want to chime in that my work bought last years elitebook and while it is a decent laptop because I got it for free, I wouldnt dare spend my own money on one. i would get a thinkpad carbon or a surface laptop for windows, and if you are willing to go mac, I would get a M2 macbook air. the HPs just arent built that well and for a work computer I think build quality is important
Looks like one of the only 2024 laptops with upgradeable memory. Price premium for Razer is too high though😞
There will be quite a few, Lenovo's Legion series, Asus's Strix line-up, HP Omen etc.
This purchase makes more sense for pro content creators since there's ROI on them. However when comparing it to the MacBook M3 max, it's a lot less expensive and you get more performance. Plus it's upgradable.
did u forget to say that the display works like a mirror too?
i currently got an acer nitro 5.
but it counts as windows.
i my ipad counts as mac, and my samsung phone counts as windows.
was wondering where does razer blade laptop fit into all of this? is it a mac, a windows, both, it's own catagory?
i say this because like ipad syncs better with macbooks, and samsung syncs better with windows. atleast that was my perception. i do own both apple and samsung products.
but i wondering where razer fits into the mix and how it fits if so.
razer laptops use windows. Any non-apple laptop uses Windows or linux
Will they make a razerblade 16 with thunderbolt 5 and Rtx GPUs 5080/5090 with GPUs tpg of 200 or 225 or more ?
Is razer discontinuing the razer blade 15 line? because I haven’t seen one for 2024.
I think so
i'll sell you mine so I can get this one!
You guys need to remember this is a blade 16 4090. The G16 that was reviewed was a 4070 that is extremely underperforming in comparison which is as expected
Their 4070 is underperforming even compared to other 4070s. Asus has dropped the ball this year.
Also the 4090 version is brutally underperforming.

How bad are razer quality issues? Looking around for a bit I see a looooooooooooooooooot of complaints about notebooks breaking super quickly especially due to battery bloating?
It's crazy how Razer has become what it seems to me a serious contender for really well made, thoughtfully specced out machines. If you want the best, this leaves... well, nothing on the table. Top tier CPU, GPU, screen, chassi, and all of that with a decent battery life and a compact charger.
