  • In this video I'm discussing all the major updates EcoFlow has rolled out into the PowerStream system and Smart Plugs over the last six months. There have been some amazing new features added that it's worth being aware of.
    All these have been added through firmware updates. This does not need a newer version of the product but I am talking about a system using a Delta 2 Max battery for storage.

    Well, seems I acquired a cheap deal on a refurbished delta max 2016wh (looks brand new) to connect the second powerstream to. I signed in using my second email address. I have a Deco TP Link mesh router set up on 2.4ghz for one and my sky router on the other. I signed each plug I wanted on each powerstream / delta max & Delta 2 max. Ie fridge freezer and a bunch of others on powerstream one, TV, lights and a bunch of others on the second powerstream. Balanced across the two routers. It peaked at 1041 Watts from the solar panels today using all solar inputs as mentioned in your video. 2 x 4 mc4 PV inputs one xt60 on delta max, 2 x xt60 on delta 2 max . A full 7 solar inputs working to their own individual panels, so I'm ultra happy. Think I'm finally going to be 🔆 zero leccy bill until October 🤞

    I think the powerstream is a great idea in principle, I managed to buy two although they are not avaliable in the UK, I have one conneced to my Delta 2 soon to be Delta 2 Max and the other connected to my Delta 2KW extra battery, what I noticed is the smart plugs will draw power from either powerstream, very handy if your extra battery has run out of power, it will automaticly start using power from the Powerstream connected to my Delta 2

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You would obviously gain something on a sunny day and the gain could be multiple kWh per day. The problem doing it this way is that power generation rarely matches demand so you’d have a nice sunny day and you’d be dumping loads back into the grid (unless your house has a high base load) or you just wouldn’t generate enough on a cloudy day. You need a battery to ride out those peaks and troughs (though one battery also doesn’t last long really). Also, the PowerStream won’t be accessible in the app outside of daylight as it will turn off.

    So, 1800watt over 4 PV inputs. I can now add more panels to the roof and run another set to both the delta 2max inputs to max out spring summer sunshine. Winter a bit crap so i added 2 times 150 ah lifepo4's and victron charge them on octopus go at 9p per kwh and each battery is xt60'd to the delta 2 max to beef it up and get longer run times and use that cheap 9 p at peak times in the day. It's great you get 390 watts raw out of those lifepo4's for a good 7 or 8 hours. I know it's a Frankenstein system, but I love pushing this little set up. Do you think they'll do an xt150 splitter/hub so you can wire both ecoflow EB's as well as the powerstream ? I really dont like wriggling that cable out to swap it over. But needs must I guess. I must be at 9kw storage capacity but if I can sell a kidney, I want to go more if I can🤔

    Does lighting run off the powerstream given that wont have a smart plug attached? I.e. can I still draw from the battery if my appliance is wired into my ring main without a smart plug.

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t know how that works. Here’s what I do know. If I’m using 100W in the house and put in 100W from the PowerStream, my meter will show 0W usage. If I then turn on a 20W ‘main’ light and increase to 120W on the PowerStream I can bring my meter back to 0W. However, what I don’t know is whether this truly classed as zero usage. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Has anyone else tested this?

      @@tdcattech Apologies I seems I have not explained my situation very well.
      The energy the roof solar panels generate go into the house and if I do not use it, the energy is wasted.

    Really interested in ongoing findings for running two power stream units . My Germany 800 watter comes tomorrow! 3 more ecoflow smart plugs and another power stream battery cable. My delta 2max and extra batteries are on steroids with 4 x 150ah lifepo4's 2 each in parallel going to the xt60' sand getting nearly 400 watts all day top up on top of solar. How are you charging the LiFePo4's - using cheap grid energy overnight or via a separate charge controller?
      Did you make up your own XT60 cable to get the full 15A into the D2M's MPPTs? I understand that the cigarette lighter to XT60i cable that Ecoflow provide is wired in such a way that it limits the current to 8A but I couldn't get any more current when I wired my 12v battery into the D2M through an MC4 to XT60 cable.

      @@chrisnortheast888 xt60i orange connector (instead of yellow) to M8 ring connectors (bought from Amazon)for the lifepo4's. Game changer. I bought a 30 amp Victron charger as wanted Bluetooth. I also have 2 x 5amp Victron chargers connected too. I split the output to two male connectors and plug the batteries into the output of the Victron and it charges the 4 x150ah on Octopus go on a smart plug between 00:30 and 04:30 so it is only 9p per unit avoiding using 32p per unit in the day. Works a treat. I do have to swap them over to the xt60 inputs on the delta 2 max usually when we get down to 60%. It's no real hardship to swap over. The power stream is connected to the XT150 and I end up with solar going into the 2 x mc4 inputs and when sunny have that now also supplying the 2 x xt60 on the delta 2 Max. Best I have got is 982 watts from the panels. Best thing ecoflow did was to allow 2x500watt on the xt60 inputs on the d2max as well as 600/800watts input on the powerstream simultaneously, making 1800watt solar possible. Thanks to the channel @TDcatTech for persuading me to persevere as I had awful trouble with the set up while I was learning the ropes. Last thing is any surplus I get at the end of the day, that gets put back into the 4x150ah as the victrons are connected to the delta 2 max 240volt output which makes sure they end up fully charged to 14.6 volts overnight ready for all day use 600ah giving 392 watts extra all next day when needed if it's a grey UK day the next day, like it mostly has been.

      @@under2boots As well as the D2M and the four LiFePo4's do you also have Ecoflow extra batteries? If so how are you planning on connecting the two Powerstreams? Am I correct in thinking that your LiFePo4's are running at 12v (you haven't done two series connections to make a pair of 24v)? The reason I ask is that the PS will accept 8A (100W) in via the River Series (cigarette lighter) cable at 12v but the MPPTs (unlike the ones in the D2M) need more than 15v before they start up.

      if you have an Ecoflow battery and a powerstream you set a basic permanent current e.g. 80 Watts for small devices. This current will permanently feed by the solar panels or supported by the battery. If your solar pannels deliver more, the battery will be charged.
      If you have the plugs (sockets) the power will be dynamically delivered to the plugs to the maximal possible delivery. (600 Watts.) E.g. If you have a plug befor a washing maschine which takes 1500 Watts then 600 will be delivered from the Solars and the Battery the missing rest will come from your grid.

Only difference is the plug which I cut off and replaced with a UK plug. Price was 310euro plus £66 for VAT and customs charge. However, having two powerstreams on the same network is causing me some headaches (please firmware gods fix it). In that I cannot specify which smartplugs are assigned to individual powersteam units. All smartplugs show on both units. Disabling smartplugs for one powersteam in the app also disables the smartplug for the other powersteam even though both powersteams are shown separately in the app with different ID numbers. In fact changing any setting in one powersteam also changes the other. Anyone else using more than on powersteam at once?

      I just received my second Powerstream yesterday so am having a play. I have them both plugged into the same Delta 2 Max which I wasn't sure would work but it does - I've had the D2M supplying 600W to each PS simultaneously so 1.2kW being backfed without solar connected. How are you connecting your pair of PSs?
      I've found that it's possible to set a different base load for each PS but, like you say, each smartplug connects to both PSs and the energy supply is split 50/50 between them. Rather oddly, if one of the PSs is unplugged from the mains then the other one continues to only supply 50% of the smartplug's requested energy.
      I was hoping to create a second 'Space' and allocate a Powerstream to each one but I'm having no success with that so far. Maybe setting up a guest Wifi network might allow two 'Spaces' to be created?

    A shame we can not use the tapo smart plugs we have 7 of them

      Oh yes. That would be nice. It's unlikely to ever happen when EcoFlow can lock you in and charge you 6 times the price of a regular smart plug. 🔌

    Yeah all ‘smart’ products need local server support via WiFi instead of needing a central server.

    Realising when you have just reached 14 ecoflow smartplugs over 2 powerstreams running 🤷

    But the Powerstream is NOT approved for use in the UK... EcoFlow told me this last week, and this is why they do not sell it on their website. So why do you not mention this? Also firmware updates are academic to UK customers who cannot buy or use this unapproved product.

      This is just an information video. It’s got nothing specifically to do with the UK. As for not mentioning the approval issues, it’s not a topic I’m addressing as it’s around regulations. That is quite intentional.

      Thanks for your prompt reply. I think that the abscence regulatory compliance for a power device that you are an advocate of, is a very important piece of information. As we disagree, I will be unsubscribing.

      Seems to have ENA approval now for the 800watt but nothing from Ecoflow yet from what that involves or was changed to be granted approval

    The app is terrible impossible to save energy as much as possible. If my battery is full the solar panel only sends the energy set from the app and not the full power of the solar panel …. Useless
