Those of us remember Pam first came on tv and win the contest again...and became instant star..Some 60bysars later I was talking to some budding poets and suggested they looked up Pam ,now that Google etc avail.. And every one loved her style, words and everything about her Thank you Pam you made a 85 year old happy...just listening. ❤
I don’t think it was quite 60 years ago but it was certainly getting on towards it! I can’t be sure without looking it up but I’d guess that I was about 6-7 perhaps at the time she was on Opportunity Knocks. I distinctly recall my Dad asking Mum if it was the girl from his office. It was and he came home from work a couple of nights later with a copy of her first (self published) book with an inscription inside for my brother and I.
Oct 20, 2019. I a 78 years old. This is the first time I ever heard of Pam Ayers. A perfect example that no matter how old you are, there is something to learn. She could be on anyone's show, stand up anywhere.
miller forester. AND, without the foul disgusting language they all use, to their shame it’s the women also. Pam Ayers is lovely. Might be inuendo, but it’s the lovely Morecambe and Wise sort.
Have followed and loved Pam Ayres since I was a young teen. Brilliant talent, unique, there will never be another like her sadly. I’ve enjoyed reading her poems and stories to others and laughing our heads off because they’re so funny and so true.
We in New Zealand Loved our primary teacher reading her child appropriate poems to us in to 80s. Esp " i wish I looked after my teeth" ... First relevant and fun poems we'd ever heard. 😊
Apart from William Shakespeare, Pam Ayres was the furst poet I knew and she was the definately the first I enjoyed. What a great talent she has. In a quiet way I think she is a national treasure. :)
Those of you who have heard the lady before will enjoy the repeat. Those who have never before, will be surprised and pleased, at such brilliant skill.
She really is pure gold; purely herself, rhythm rhyme perfect not a syllable too much or too little and always word perfect while never stagey. God bless her.
That is exactly what I think………if she were, we would all look forward to each important event in the country being celebrated by a brilliant poet. PA doesn’t only write great, amusing, poems. Years ago I heard her reading a poem about how she felt when her son left home….to go to University, I think it was. It was so moving, and so true.
Pam Ayres, you are absolutely the Icing on the Cake. It's not easy making me laugh these days as I've got a bit old and grumpy, but I laughed and laughed at your poem and I bet my kids would say, "That sounds just like Dad," If they heard it.
So refreshing to hear humour and witty wordplay without a barrage of.. ah.. "modern language" besmirching the process. Pam Ayers is truly a national treasure. I have been for a dental appointment today & recommended to the health care professionals Pam's poem "I wish I'd looked after me teeth". It certainly rings true!
Pam is brilliant! These are poems for everyone. They will not win any prizes given by those folks at the top, they are made to make us laugh a lot and never never stop. I wish I could write one, with all her wit an flair, but I know that I just can't so wont be going there.
This brings back so many childhood memories, laughing with my father. She is pure genius and her creations are hilarious. Good old fashioned humour wrapped in a poem. Love you Pam. A family favourite. 🇦🇺 I don’t like the Ashes line though 😂
Absolutely love Pam Ayres. Her over pronounced diction is just perfect. I would've love to have seen a collaboration with the late great Victoria Wood. Now that would have been something really special ❤
Good Old Pam. I first saw her on the TV while I was still in the army at Bulford in Wiltshire in 1975/76. I thought she was brilliant then and still do
@@elaineprescott3972 I agree with you jane , all they feed us now are obnoxious unfunny morons who cannot deliver a line without several expletives , yet just listen to how hilarious pam is , yet the tv bosses are not interested
tom jones. But they were! I’ve seen her live shows around the country and watched every one of her dozens of tv shows! Do you mean you never saw her? She was awarded the MBE in 2004 for ‘services to comedy’. Her shows were 2 hours long on radio. She was active and such a hit in the 1990s/2000s and was still doing these shows in 2017/18. Excellent good clean fun. A lovely lady, .
Pam Ayres never really got the exposure she deserved even though she's still a household name. So very underated in the truest sense of the word. A brilliantly comedic wit.
Such a kind lady. I asked permission to print one of her poems ( Tippy Tappy Feet) in a dog club magazine. She replied in person giving permission and no charge
Absolutely brilliant, saw her again last November in Oxford and she's as good as ever to an enthusiastic packed house. I've just read her autobiography, The Necessary Aptitude.
I can remember Pam as winning opportunity knocks on the Telly and then years later me and my husband went to see her shows in Skegness then in Canterbury Marlow Theater and Margate Winter gardens, I’ve also got quite a few of her poetry, books and CDs, which are great for listening in the car. 😊
That line ‘I often wonder what it must be like to be so strong/ Infallible, articulate, self-confident and wrong’ is pure gold!
😂
Sheer genius 😂
She was always able to put everyday experiences and feelings into poetry- what a talent!

I love her poetry, right to the point and so funny. Pam Ayers is a national treasure. 😃
Her talent and diction's like a breath of fresh air!!! LOVE her act!!!
Her diction is music to my ears. No “wanna” instead of “want do”, no “twenny” instead of “twenty” etc. etc.
😊

What a talent, there’s only one Pam, the world would be a lesser place without this genius 💋💋💋should be a dame
agree totally
Genius ……….. are you serious . She’s popular with people who don’t read or travel.
Simpleton.
Those of you who have heard the lady before will enjoy the repeat. Those who have never before, will be surprised and pleased, at such brilliant skill.

Great fun and Pam never disapoints. Love her cheeky grin when she comes to the punch line.
This has cheered me up immensely on a sad day
Brilliant!!! There will be many a wife/partner out there shouting "that's just him!!!" A comedic pleasure to hear. Well done Pam!!!
A history lesson of the time ..... its a tribute to her poetic skills that they are remembered as Pam Ayres is herself ....
She still tours i saw her show last year in Oxford.
Pure gold and unadulterated entertainment ❤ Dame Pam I say!!
I have listened to this many times, over and over again, and it makes me laugh every time brilliant....

She is still a gem. Wonderful

I loved her on radio 2 on Sundays, I miss her loads, top woman, and her Husband sounds like me.
She knows my Dad :)....and , since he passed away 10 years ago , i have a funny feeling , that she knows ME now !
I also remember loving her as a child (in the 1970's). Such a lovely lady and a national treasure.

Jane Winkles. Exactly! Get rid of all these filthy worded, filthy minded so called comedians. Including, to her shame, Sarah Millican.

the glazing of your eyeballs! GENIUS!
Wonderful female Benny Hill and thoroughly entertaining.
I don’t know how often I’ve watched this and I laugh until I cry each time.
Very, very funny, and she brings joy to our lives,
Of course i know some husbands who say the same things of their wives.
Now, this is the truth.
It isn't gender what makes it so, though what does I do not know...
Over so many years Pam is a treasure and delight!
This woman she is something. Bloody awesome
🤗🤗 Brilliant she is..was and always will be
Absolutely perfect -- couldn't have said it better myself! 😂💚
Why is this wonderful lady not a Dame by now, typical that those who deserve it never do!
write to your MP to nominate her
Such a kind lady. I asked permission to print one of her poems ( Tippy Tappy Feet) in a dog club magazine. She replied in person giving permission and no charge
She has become a fervent campaigner for animal rights. and for wild life. She has an enormous heart
Absolutely brilliant but of course nothing like my husband!
She has a true talent
I luv Pam and her poetry a long time now since I heard this brilliant
Absolutely brilliant and I have a friend like her 'busband'
This might be 13 years ago. But the problems named are still very accurate. Love this. Thanks.
What’s clever is that since this performance, she’s updated some verses with more recent events. I’ve heard another couple of new versions.
what a lovely lady,,,brilliant
thanks Pam...
What an absolute breath of fresh air. Fantastic. And no swearing or pulling faces and making silly noises.
Guy Tero Yes, she is amazing.
