- Part 2 - How to improve amilling machine upgrade and modifications, these 2 parts show how a previous owners bodge job on the quill adjustment mechanism made the quill impossible to adjust, and how i overcame this with a new system of adjustable bronze bushes.
IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO ON "PEERLESS MILLING MACHINES" i would appreciate it - แนวปฏิบัติและการใช้ชีวิต
“Back to standard”, and beyond. A brilliant solution to removing the quill backlash. Inspirational 👏👏👍😀
Many thanks! Andrew

Great Job. That’s a huge improvement. I don’t think anyone could have done any better. I learned a Lot from this Video. Thanks for the clear explanation and for posting it.
Glad it helped! J1

Hi, I just watched these Two Videos again. I’m going to have to adjust my RF30 Tomorrow because of the same reason you needed to adjust yours. I’m hoping I can get the adjustment I need with the existing Bushings. If I can’t, I at least know how to fix it now. I think you are the only Machinist out there that has explained the adjustment and how to fix it if need be. I enjoy all your Videos and learn a Lot from you. I’m really glad you made these 2 Videos though because I had no idea what I was going to get into. Thanks again from Joe in Texas👍

I have been struggling with the same issue on my Grizzly Mill Drill. To much back lash on the quill to even consider doing a CNC retrofit on the Z axis. Your fix is nothing short of Genius! Thank You So Much for your insight into addressing this issue!
thanks george, hope you get it sorted

Thanks so much for sharing, I have the Jet version of the similar mill with awful quill backlash. This will be my next project, now that I see the way to a solution

thanks for the feedback, glad it helped, any far eastern made machine needs an overall fine tune to make them usable. Someone managed with this for years till i got my hands on it, it's not the finest of machines, but i can make it do what ever i need.

LOVE the way you drilled the holes so the angle grinder spanner would turn the offset bushes. I was wondering how you would do that. Nicely done!

9:24 immediately got me thinking "Two holes in the bush are better than a hole in hand." Thank you for sharing your quill backlash fix. Did you get to the worm gear backlash?
Hi rr
