I have been here twice, 1965 and 1966. I stood and watched Mr Warther carve pliers and hand them to us, school children, like we were all his grandchildren. And the great swing out back, I miss those times, and him. HJWaggoner

Great video! I grew up in Dover, met Mooney, watched him make pliers while talking about his life, and I went to school with his grandson Dale. Dale ran the knife making part of the family business for a long time until he passed.I was fortunate to swing in the rope swing that was taken down for safety concerns too. Has been a while since I was there so this video hits close to home for me. Thanks.

I'm glad this video brought back some memories, that's amazing that you got to meet Mooney and Dale. And I didn't know about the rope swing. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

I remember visiting there with my family several times growing up in the 50's and 60's. Mr. Warther was such a kind and gentle man with great talent, both in carving and storytelling.

Thank you for this. My parents brought me here back in the late 70's-early 80's, and I was really impressed. I enjoyed this trip down memory lane.

I remember going there as a kid in the 80s. I had for the longest time and lost it in a move about 10 years ago I believe, but I had a matchstick that was carved into pliers on the end, was in a glass tube with a cork on it I got from there.

@@hoosiertours and thank you for this incredible and informative video I'm so glad it's still there and hasn't changed a bit!! Ya know my mother still has a set of knives from Warthers they're about worn down to the nub and refuses to use anything else they are very tough knives worth every penny!
