When Gordon got retired from the express, he should’ve went back to the Sheds next to Edward and Edward said “so how does it feel to be such an old engine?” Gordon says nothing and smiles, frowns, and apologizes for all the years of putting him down. Edward accepts his apology. Both sit and reminiscent of the old days.
That would have been a sweet way to show Gordon's full arc from the newest thing in express passenger service to humbly bowing out as an old man, and Edward is there waiting for him to join his side.
Honestly, although Wilbert Awdry deserves most of the praise, (as he is the storyteller and writer of these books,) can we give a shout out to Christopher and Margaret? If Christopher wasn’t so willing to ask questions, or if Margaret didn’t push her husband to seek out a publisher for these stories, we probably would’ve never gotten the Railway Series nor the television series.
In a weird way, Christopher’s measles is a blessing for him to ask his father for stories and that lead to him creating the plots for engines that became the railway series
@@Thomasmemoryscentral Agreed. If Christopher didn’t question things like “why is that engines sad?“ and just took it at face value that it was just a picture we would’ve never had the story of Edward the blue engine

A protagonist doesn't need their own character arc if they have an impact on the characters around them. Edward's great. It just takes time for everyone to realise it.
You have no idea how big the smile on my face was when Nothing Can Stop Us Now played during Exploit's climax I had never imaged that song working so well for that scene, but given the whole moral for Little Engine That Could it just works too well! Massive props to Isaiah for the fantastic score!
I fully agree. I did a double take. The best rendition of the little engine that could. I could listen to just the musical score with no dialog all day
I love the little bits you have between sections where you have the characters voice a scene. "Not.... appreciating... the commentary...!!" XD Honestly, if they REALLY wanted to have Edward be naive or dumb or "out of character" they should have just written a flashback episode! One where Edward tells a story to a troubled engine who's either misbehaving or misinformed, which takes place back when Edward was young and in his pre-sodor days. Doing that in the model series would have been difficult, but it would be easy in CGI
Gordon mishears him too so I just like to assume engines have horrible hearing and are only just guessing what they're hearing and generally get it right until it's something they don't know.
@@joshuaW5621I think it’s the fact at first it’s established Percy has a small vocabulary but then it got flanderized to the point where Percy is basically a 4 year old!
Edward is the glue that holds everything together. He may be quiet and appear not very often, but he doesn’t need to. He is the Merlin or Obi Wan of the line, the wise old man whom knows best. Edward is a fan favourite, for a great reason. One of my favourites
Edward was a more prominent main character than Toby and Duck in the classic series. But he was unfortunately not as prominent as Henry, Gordon, Percy, James and Thomas.
@@LukeOfSodor22BECAUSE A CRANE TRIED TO KILL ME, OKAY?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gordon's lines at 48: 38 are so raw and well delivered it caught me off guard, to the point o nearly sprayed water over my keyboard. Its just such a realistic line yet also go right along with your commentary on Edward so far that it feels too real. So you did a fantastic job in that case.
Ever since I was a child, Edward has always been my favorite engine. His character has a unique personality that has always captivated me and I've always admired his good intentions and his willingness to help others. And as an adult, he is still a true example of kindness for me. Thanks for the video.
The ending sequence with the Little Engine that could music put a big stupid smile on my face. This is easily the best Sodor’s Finest. I cannot wait for how Gordon’s remastered episode will turn out
You know what would've been nice? What if "Edward The Very Useful Engine" went like this. Edward begins clanking after helping Gordon, and while Gordon is greatful, he's worried that Edward could actually be breaking down and possibly be sent for scrap, and Gordon doesn't want that to happen since he's come to really respect him. Gordon goes to see Edward at the works, and Edward assures him that he just needed repairs, and Gordon apologizes for all the times he was rude to him in the past. Then when Gordon sees Duck stuck on his hill, Gordon decides to honor Edward by being Duck's back engine. But the rails were very slippery and just when all hope is lost, Edward arrives to help Gordon and as Edward chants "We can it! We can do it! We can do it!", Gordon chants "We WILL do it! We WILL do it! We WILL do it!" as a sorta nod to "Edward and Gordon".
@@supermariof0521 Yes, I also had another idea for a story, and that's "Saving Edward". Instead of it being an Edward mopes around and thinks he'll be scrapped all because he's clanking and wheezing story, I instead turned it around. I would make it a Bill and Ben story, instead of Edward thinking he'll be scrapped, they would think that he would be scrapped over mishearing Edward himself, like Edward would be talking to Topham or something and they mishear him. They would worry but try their best to make sure Edward doesn't get the cutter's torch, which would lead into them getting into an accident and Edward coming to their rescue. Edward asks them why they were acting weird and Bill and Ben fess up, only for Edward to laugh and tell them what he really said. Only for them to be silly for thinking something of the sort and to argue with each other at the end for their own doings. Now, I know this sounds like "Percy's Big Mistake", but I feel this would be more appropriate for Bill and Ben's character because they're both young and naive. Yeah, I know Edward would be sidelined but at least he wouldn't be out of character.
This is without a doubt the best sodor’s finest yet. It really feels like a triumph, not just Edward’s history but for the project as a whole. Absolute perfection.
Our fearless leader, Lord Tug has bequeathed unto us, his loyal subjects. A gift of unparalleled proportions - An Edward episode of Sodor's finest. For which we are eternally grateful!
39:27 - That is nothing like Edward. This is how I would describe him: Edward is a kind and wise engine. He is one of the oldest engines on Sodor which means he has lots of experience and mentors younger engines (Percy). Although Edward used to be looked down upon by others he showed time after time that he is still useful and the others now respect him. He never gives up and despite what others say or his condition he still carries on.
The use of the theme from The Little Engine That Could was absolutely perfect for Edward's triumph, it gave me chills. One of your best and most well produced videos Tug, a grand and fitting showcase of work for the character who started it all
Tug, thank you for using “nothing can stop us now!” The little engine that could from the 90s was one of my favorite films as a kid, and it was used very appropriately and in a great moment! You sir are magnificent!
Really loved what you said about Edward and Philip in ASFE. The way Edward was written in TAB was perfect, and Philip acted as like a parallel to Thomas in that movie (see 54:39) so putting them together at wellsworth made perfect sence. I only wish they got something to do in Philips/Edwards episodes in S22. Honestly wish ASFE had Bill and Ben in place of Philip, since it would've called back to S2/S3/RWS, and would've payed off with Hunt the Truck in S22. Anyway, great video!
Great vid. One thing I adore about CGI Edward is his UK voice, the accent and tone is just so perfect, that older English gentleman thing, not pompous but refined.
I was So Not Expecting Edward's SF to be Remade!! But Holy Hell is This such an Amazing Step up from his First Video from Years ago!! Edward is so definitely a Sodor's Finest and that Introduction was just Magical!! 13/10 Nic!!
the outro with Edwards exploit, Unlucky Tug, what you did, you plucked my hearts strings as in the background “Nothing can stop us now” from the Little Engine that Could… my all time FAVORITE MOVIE and by far, my version of Edward and by far, a suitible fanfare for Edward in this scenario
When I found out that you were doing Edward, I’m glad actually as the first two videos with Edward and Gordon, they were more of the pioneer that started this series and consider them your take as to who is truly the main character of the series and who is your favorite. As for this episode, love your take for Edward’s day out and Edward’s exploit, going so far and above compared to the previous episodes, with reasons too. I will admit that your take to Edward’s triumph scene, my emotional dam burst, shedding tears as that episode by far is my favorite for season 2 and your version 2.0, you outdid the original and your first take. As for the ending, GOD I LOVE CHEEKY THOMAS, being the instigator, pushing Gordon to apologize. I can’t tell you how many times I replayed the ending. I know these episodes takes time, but I look forward to the next episode, and hopefully, it will be Gordon. Well done Unlucky Tug…
I'll admit it. You described my relation with Edward perfectly (4:49) Thomas was my favorite character as a I child, and later as I aged a bit it became James. But even among my years I never understood Edward. He always seemed like a Blue James to me that never appeared much. But as an Adult I can immediately understand, empathize, and even admire Edward for always doing his best no matter how many obstacles are thrown his way, even the harsh words from fellow engines. He leads others from example and not arrogance like Gordon would, and never hesitates to people in their place when they are full of it. I'm sorry Edward. For not realizing how important you are until after all these years.
It's hard to believe you'd make Edward. After all, you said in the Henry video that you wouldn't be doing Edward or Gordon any time soon, but that was a long time ago... I LOVE IT! COME ON, WE NEED GORDON TOO!
I honestly didn’t expect Edward to be today’s Sodor’s Finest but this took me by surprise and I found my love for Edward has been doubled thanks to this! Such a majestic video a really useful engine who’s been through a lot. Not to mention the cast and crew who made this were fantastic! I give this a 10/10.
I still firmly believe that in Edward Strikes Out, "Edward" is actually James. The Fat Contoller caught James messing up for the last time, and finally painted him blue. Still pissy, he decided to ruin Edward's name when Rocky came around.
@@randomnessetc5600the story is good. It feels like something that could happen in the RWS with a little bit of better writing. The only thing that ruins the story is the character leading it.
@@DRMF7 I keep saying that James was originally supposed to be the lead character but his model broke down and they couldn't fix him in time so Edward is basically filling in as a substitute hence why James doesn't cameo in the episode.
@@randomnessetc5600 That is a good theory. I always wonder why James (the character that was marketed as the main 3 in this era of the show) didn’t appear in this episode not even as a cameo.
I see the relationship of Edward and Gordon in the Railway Series is kind of like Doc and Lightning McQueen. Doc basically foreshadowed what will eventually will happen to McQueen in Cars 3
I get that feeling from them. I also think the King could also be a counterpart to Edward in Gordon’s journey as well seeing as he was the old veteran when the new guy who is the protagonist comes in.
21:15 With what Tug said… that’s actually kinda interesting. Gordon’s warmed up enough to rather have Edward be preserved than let Edward be scrapped. It’s kinda cool
Edward is that comfort character. He may not show up much, but you always feel that warmth and comfort when he is around. Plus, whenever there's any kind of debate between the characters and Edward shows up, it always gives a sense of "Oh thank goodness Edward is here. He'll set things right!"
No matter what anyone think or feels about Edward, he will always be known as the wise, old, yet determined blue tender engine that all the engines on Sodor and the members of the Thomas fandom will forever know, cherish and love. 💙
The "Nothing Can Stop Us Now" (from the Little Engine That Could movie) instrumental over Edward's Exploit just did it for me - burst into tears 😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏 Thank you Unlucky Tug this was so so special. Edward our fav, Edward the best!
1:06:10 I like this bit. I often reimagine the scene with Edward's driver trying to talk him into just phoning for another engine from the get-go after such a damaging accident, but with Edward insisting that they let him keep pulling the train.
If I'm honest for myself CGI Edward is the best version of Edward. Simply because he represents what a stepfather is all about. One thing I love about the CGI era is that the dynamic between Thomas and Edward has a lot more time to shine than in the Model or RWS era. In TAB, Edward took good care of Thomas as if he were his son. He supported him and was always on his side and gave him advice. In the episode "Old reliable Edward" that wheel turned a bit. In this episode, Thomas shows how important Edward is to him. When Gordon insulted Edward, Thomas thought, "You know what? You helped me back then, now I'll help you!" I always think that the episode before the Miller era would explain why Gordon is mean to Edward in the episode, but not in S13-S16. The Miller era also had some good moments between the two. In HOTR Edward defended (with Gordon and James) against Spencer. And he was also the first to notice that Thomas had something on his mind. In the questionable S13 episode where Thomas chases a dragon, Edward supported him. When Phillip goes to Sodor is similar to Thomas in TAB. Phillip is supposed to show that Thomas can stand on his own without Edward and from then on Edward is also a stepfather to Phillip. And in S21 Thomas says goodbye to his stepfather. CGI Edward represents what a stepfather is all about and why CGI Edward is (imo) peak Edward.
Which S13 episode are you talking about? "Old reliable Edward" is Edward's along with Thomas' epic Chad episode to me. ;) Totally satisfying to see Thomas putting Gordon in his place for being an ungrateful prick to Edward by leaving him stuck on his hill again and having Edward leave him there to die.
The episode A shed for Edward genuinely makes me wish that Percy was female instead of male (but still have her be named Percy and have her look and sound identical to her male counterpart in every single way) so Edward doesn’t get written off in season 21 since he would’ve been the 5th boy instead of the 6th. This would’ve been all of Edward’s episodes in the Brenner era if Percy was female. 1. No more Mr. nice engine (The roles of Hiro and Edward reversed and the episode retitled as Edward’s sticky spill) (season 17) 2. Old reliable Edward (Gordon swapped out with Spencer) (season 18) 3. Edward, Henry and the spots (A rewritten version of Henry’s spots trouble) (season 19) 4. Rocky Rescue (Thomas swapped out with Edward) (season 19) 5. 3 blue engines gruff (season 20) (Edward taking Thomas’s role as the voice of reason and Edward does not get frightened along with Toby swapped out with Gordon and Percy swapped out with Thomas) 6. Dowager Hatt’s busy day (if Duck stays a main character throughout the Hit, Miller, and Brenner eras) (season 21) 7. Edward In The Middle (if Duck stays a main character throughout the Hit, Miller, and Brenner eras) (season 21) 8. P.A Problems (season 21)
I was not expecting a remake! Glad to see a proper Sodor's finest on Edward :) Worried it would be Thomas as he should be the big finale to Sodor's Finest. Right after Daisy, Emily, Mavis, Oliver, Duncan, Bertie, Harold, Donald & Douglas, Bill & Ben and The Fat Controller.
A very awesome recreation. Not only did I learn something new about Edward, but also the reason why CGI Thomas & Friends suddenly went down hill at the end of the Brenner era and beginning of BWBA.
When I heard James I had to check the description as I knew it was Trampy. Love that James voice! I also love the extra detail compared to the original Sodor's Finest on our favorite number 2.
Honestly, when I was a kid I never really cared for Edward since he barely appeared in the Classic Era. However, after reading the Railway Series and watching all of the Classic Era on Prime Video, Edward has really grown on me and he's now actually become one of my favorite characters in the show. And I can definitely see why he is Unlucky Tug's favorite character in Thomas & Friends.
Honestly? I don’t think anyone could ask for a better look or tribute for a character as special as Edward. You’ve seriously outdone yourself this time! The cutaways to the adaptations of Edward and Gordon and Edward’s Exploit were superb and incredibly enjoyable to watch. I had to laugh when watching Thomas playfully probing Gordon during his speech at the end! The dialogue, banter and overall dynamic between the engines is captured perfectly! Very well done on this!
The theme from The Little Engine that Could at 1:07:51 was a FANTASTIC choice! "There's not a mountain that we can't climb. There's not a river we can't make it over There's no tomorrow that we can't find, if we try. I know we're gonna make it, NOTHING CAN STOP US NOWWWW!!!"
The blue veteran fighter himself - Sodor's version of Captain America👍👍 we must never forget how important Edward the Blue Engine is to the franchise. Without him, none of the later stories would probably have been published. Sadly, the later seasons rarely gave him the respect that he deserves
James will always be my favourite character, but Tug has really made a great case for Edward. He may be number 2 on the railway, but he’s number 1 to the rest of us.
16:36 when I was a kid I remember Edwards angry face in Calling All Engines and it always stuck with me and held more weight than others cos you really don’t see much of it
Why doesn't it surprise me that Edward would be the one to get his own Complete History video? Still, this was really good!😄 As for why Edward wasn't in TATMR, it's likely that he went with The Fat Controller on his holiday.
Alice could've been a separate character. Still a 4-4-0 mind you, but a newer built one. As an example, the GCR Class 11F's (Or the D11 during their LNER days) were built between 1919-1924, 19 years after Edward's class had finished being built.
1:14:37 It makes me so happy knowing that Tug has watched or even knows about the 1991 Little Engine That Could film. It's so niche and forgotten about! I hope he does some kind of "Best Show You've Never Seen"-esque video about it!
Edward deserved a prequel book. Just imagine... *Book #43 "Edward's Early Years"* telling us the 4-Part arc of his life back on the FR in the 1800s, following him when he was young, smug, foolish and how he eventually grew into the wise old fatherly elder he is now. An extra 5th story in the book could be about him arriving to Sodor, meeting Thomas, and them building the NWR together, the very last page showing him being left in the shed as time goes on, bringing the RWS full circle back to the beginning of The Three Railway Engines. I also think that the idea of there being a K2 named Alice is a really great opportunity for a new OC in my opinion. The headcannon here is pretty simple: She could be Edward's long forgotten older sister who was sadly scrapped just before he left for Sodor. Although Edward rarely talks about her... Alice was in fact the very one who mentored HIM, teaching him everything he knows today. She was the Qui-Gon Jinn to Edward's Obi-Wan Kenobi if you will, with their sibling dynamic being an exact parallel and foreshadowing what Edward & Thomas's future friendship would become.
Yeah and I felt like Albert plus Victoria and Helena could've been tied into his backstory...hell IMO, Thomas & Victoria SHOULD'VE been Edward & Victoria.
I find it genuinely shocking that Christopher Awdry never made a book about that in the 80s or 90s and I do genuinely believe that if Percy was female then Christopher would’ve done a Edward pre Sodor days book.
Edward is definitely one of the best characters of the series. If Awdry never had the idea when telling the story to his son then the Railway Series or Thomas and friends wouldn't be here. Edward is always useful and reliable and yet nothing stands in his way from triumph. What a champ! Also for a rant, yeah Mattel really did him dirty. The writing team was pretty much put in the crossroads when it came to Edward's departure. They really could've written an episode that keened to the books but Mattel being the company that it is obviously wanted to keep their revenue just so they could make their "necessary" changes to the show, but then seeing outcome wasn't well received and yet they just don't care.
When I was a child Edward never stuck out to me, that’s to be expected. However now that I’ve watched this video, I have found myself having a slight interest in Edward now, thanks unlucky tug
Edward’s arc in the railway series can inspire anyone. I was biking along the beach a few weeks ago and I had to turn around, and the wind was pelting against me and the sand kept sinking in. I managed to get home without getting off the bike once, and the entire time Edward’s theme was playing in my head lol. Anyways great job to everyone who worked on this, this is a really special installment to Sodor’s Finest
@@fanofeverything30465 I feel like Thomas will probably be the grand finale to Sodor's Finest, after the Thomas Retrospective is complete. In the meantime, I think we'll get Sodor's Finest installments on Donald & Douglas, Oliver, and several others too!
Wow! For a remastered episode on a previous Sodor's Finest episode you did before, this is really excellent! Edward really is a true example to us all, he may not appear as much after his character arc is complete and not every generation knows who he is, but he still surprises us all just like the other engines! When I was younger, I wasn't interested in Edward as a character cause I was more interested in the other characters get into crazy antics. But with time as I grew older and learning his backstory and the series' creation, I slowly grow on the wise old blue engine. So now he's become my forth favorite character! I literally choked and teared up at the character dialogue segments in between the analysis. Richard Browning's Gordon voice sounds like Neil Crone precisely and even Robin's Thomas voice sounds accurately like John Hasler (Eddie Glen in your case), I thought you had hired him to do the voice. For Edward's character, I too prefer him as a supporting character like in S3-5. Giving him too many flaws would make him unlikable like the childish HiT era did (and I think maybe the writers too didn't like the Steam Team concept either, who knows?). This is why I gave Edward one episode in S1 of Great Sodor Engines and a few supporting roles to make him consistent to his true persona in the original eras of the show (RWS Books and Classic TV Series). I hope you do a remake of Gordon soon!
I re-watched the original 1991 " The Little Engine that Could" movie and the music at the end now reminds me of your version of "Edward's Exploit" rather than the other way around and still hits emotionally for this man is his mid 30's. As someone aging and needing surgery again, much like an aging engine, this was exactly what I needed in my life at this time and will always remind me that even as I age, I know I can do it and, after each challenge life throws at me I can stand up and say, "Yes, I did it, and with was worth it."
If Edward got himself a remaster, then I'm expecting a Gordon remaster in the future. Edit: 14:45 LOL! I always forget about this bit from the Johnny Morris narrations.
David Mitton writing an episode as bad as Edward the Really Useful Engine is genuinely one of the most mind-boggling things about the entire franchise to me Edit: honestly Edward being scared of a possible ghost engine in Henry in the Dark doesn’t bother me THAT much because in the classic series they were always flirtatious with the supernatural and since many other characters believed in ghosts back then, I don’t think it’d be far off to say Edward does believe in ghosts and even they kinda freak him out because it’s something beyond even human understanding
Well, if I remember correctly, the reason David left was due to corporate meddling. I think the people from HiT were too controlling into what stories they wanted David to right, which is what I think led to him leaving. And it’s understandably so. They wouldn’t give him the freedom to write his own stories. I’m not sure if there’s more to David’s departure but I do think it has to do with not having the creative freedom of writing his own plots and stories. And I also agree that Edward being a bit spooked of the supernatural isn’t out of the ordinary. It’s also the same how I feel with the episode “The Old Bridge”. Everyone bashes this episode as it’s not in character for a character like Skarloey to be scared. While I am sad with how HiT had slowly turned him and the the narrow gauge engines to act more like children, Skarloey having PTSD with a bridge after almost falling off of it isn’t really that out of character. Even the bravest characters can have trauma especially with being that close to falling and being injured or killed.
Edward may not be my favorite, even if he is quite high up on my tear list, but I think he’s the character I have the most admiration for. As I get older and older, I relate to Edward more and more. Edward knows that age is catching up to him, and the world has changed a lot from the one he was brought into, but he doesn’t let that stop him from doing his best and showing kindness to others. After all, he wants to help and share.
For those wondering, my favorite character is actually Thomas. When he is written correctly, I like how he clearly has a good heart, but his cheeky, cocky. Nature often gets the best of him. As a fan, and as a storyteller, that’s a very fun character to work with. And I love how throughout the original five seasons, Thomas really grew up and matured, but never fully lost that cheeky edge of his
That would also allow for an occasion where Edward makes some egregious mistake without being out of character, as this would be set before he matured, similar to how _Very Old Engines_ showed Skarloey as once being like that.
That ending was incredible I especially love you included the theme from the 1991 film the little engine that could and it was redone in the Thomas style definitely brought back memories And overall Edward is a character that should always be remembered The one that started it all If it weren’t for him there would be no Thomas & none of our love for it wouldn’t have existed
It says alot about a video when it only takes a few minutes for me to decide it's one of my favourites, Edward fan bias aside. Very well done Nic and to the team behind this one. Easily for me the best Sodor's Finest.
The Unlucky Tug’s done it again taking the first 2 Pilot Episodes of Sodor’s Finest “Edward & Gordon” and redoing them to be consistent for others. Whenever Gordon the Big Engine gets redone, I will be glue on the channel for updates! keep it going Nic, you’re doing great!
One thing I always found very endearing about Edward's basis being a K2 was how they didn't make it to nationalisation- being phased out and scrapped by the late 30s by the LMS. But despite this, he soldiers on nearly 90 years after the last of his kin were retired. Edward lives on thanks to grit, determination, a comendable work ethic and lots and lots of love. An absolutely stellar video Nic. Absolutely smashing stuff! Never have I wanted to model Edward more!
For some reason I used to think that a few of the K2s lasted into nationalisation. Unfortunately the D5s were the only Furness locomotives to make it into British Railways service.
Damn, you had an amazing selection of voice actors. They really make the characters feel so much more alive and genuine. You also put on a pretty good voice for BoCo
I like to think that happened off-page
Makes me wish Christopher put that as the last story in the last Railway Series book.
Thinking about a scene like that makes me almost cry 🥹
If only this would be amazing to see
That would have been a sweet way to show Gordon's full arc from the newest thing in express passenger service to humbly bowing out as an old man, and Edward is there waiting for him to join his side.

"Not.... appreciating... the commentary...!!" XD
Honestly, if they REALLY wanted to have Edward be naive or dumb or "out of character" they should have just written a flashback episode! One where Edward tells a story to a troubled engine who's either misbehaving or misinformed, which takes place back when Edward was young and in his pre-sodor days. Doing that in the model series would have been difficult, but it would be easy in CGI
Edward represents everything so real about the island of Sodor. The embodiment of never giving up no matter what is being thrown at you!
Edward: What you need is a Deputation.
Percy: Edward says we need a Depot Station!
Bruh
That part made me laugh a little 😂
The fact that people have a problem with Percy mispronouncing words in season 6 when this has been going on since season 2 is so mind boggling to me.

The small bits inbetween this epsiode were just.. WOW. This felt like Thomas & Friends if it was in the TUGS style episodes.
That would be way better!

Our fearless leader, Lord Tug has bequeathed unto us, his loyal subjects. A gift of unparalleled proportions - An Edward episode of Sodor's finest. For which we are eternally grateful!
An Edward remake of epic proportions
Most indubitably, here here.
The original one was good, but man, this is better!
Here, Here
It's a very nice (monty python reference)
39:27 - That is nothing like Edward. This is how I would describe him:
Edward is a kind and wise engine.
One of your best and most well produced videos Tug, a grand and fitting showcase of work for the character who started it all
Legit stopped what I was doing just to rewind and listen again, and wouldn’t ya know I end up crying. So unexpected, so close to my heart…
I agree. That’s why I prefer the UK dub of most CGI episodes. I just prefer how the voices in that dub sound, including his.

You described my relation with Edward perfectly (4:49)
Thomas was my favorite character as a I child, and later as I aged a bit it became James.

For the umpteenth time, ignoring Edward being OUC, how is the story by itself?
@@randomnessetc5600 Mid but you can't ignore the OOC when the story relies on it
@@randomnessetc5600the story is good.
Edward is truly an astonishing character. He's taught us that no matter how old we are, we must never give up, no matter the cost. He's our hero!

Yeah!
"Old reliable Edward" is Edward's along with Thomas' epic Chad episode to me. ;)
Totally satisfying to see Thomas putting Gordon in his place for being an ungrateful prick to Edward by leaving him stuck on his hill again and having Edward leave him there to die.
@@jeremiahsisaias8677Sorry for the late message. "Thomas and the Runaway Kate" was the episode I was referring to.

2. Old reliable Edward (Gordon swapped out with Spencer) (season 18)
3. Edward, Henry and the spots (A rewritten version of Henry’s spots trouble) (season 19)
4. Rocky Rescue (Thomas swapped out with Edward) (season 19)
5. 3 blue engines gruff (season 20) (Edward taking Thomas’s role as the voice of reason and Edward does not get frightened along with Toby swapped out with Gordon and Percy swapped out with Thomas)
6. Dowager Hatt’s busy day (if Duck stays a main character throughout the Hit, Miller, and Brenner eras) (season 21)
7. Edward In The Middle (if Duck stays a main character throughout the Hit, Miller, and Brenner eras) (season 21)
8. P.A Problems (season 21)

I love the fact that Thomas cares for Edward in the intro and segments between parts. It’s so sweet. I love their dynamic!!

Oh it’s a Sodor’s Finest of Edward in the new style. Wasn’t expecting that but perfectly fine in my books
So like Very Old Engines, huh?
Yeah and I felt like Albert plus Victoria and Helena could've been tied into his backstory...hell IMO, Thomas & Victoria SHOULD'VE been Edward & Victoria.
I like that idea
So does that make Thomas Luke
I find it genuinely shocking that Christopher Awdry never made a book about that in the 80s or 90s and I do genuinely believe that if Percy was female then Christopher would’ve done a Edward pre Sodor days book.
The little stories with all the VA's was just incredible, and the final re-telling of Edward's Exploit, that really felt magical!
15:55 Edward said we need a Depot station 💀💀💀
What a really touching and indepth commentary on Edward in the railway series. I hope it continues when the CGI series is brought up
Edward’s arc in the railway series can inspire anyone.
Edward definitely deserves a remake video. And also Gordon ☺️
I think the next Sodor's Finest will be a remake of Gordon Then The Fat Controller Then Thomas
Edward is mostly consistent to his true persona in the CGI Brenner era too.

Me: AN HOUR AND 15 MINUTES?!??!?
I re-watched the original 1991 " The Little Engine that Could" movie and the music at the end now reminds me of your version of "Edward's Exploit" rather than the other way around and still hits emotionally for this man is his mid 30's. As someone aging and needing surgery again, much like an aging engine, this was exactly what I needed in my life at this time and will always remind me that even as I age, I know I can do it and, after each challenge life throws at me I can stand up and say, "Yes, I did it, and with was worth it."
If Edward got himself a remaster, then I'm expecting a Gordon remaster in the future.

You can clearly tell Nic loves Edward based on how long this video is😂
David Mitton writing an episode as bad as Edward the Really Useful Engine is genuinely one of the most mind-boggling things about the entire franchise to me
Edit: honestly Edward being scared of a possible ghost engine in Henry in the Dark doesn’t bother me THAT much because in the classic series they were always flirtatious with the supernatural and since many other characters believed in ghosts back then, I don’t think it’d be far off to say Edward does believe in ghosts and even they kinda freak him out because it’s something beyond even human understanding
Maybe the script editor did a crap job
You just keep hitting it out of the park mate. Edward's always been my favourite character too. This video is more than doing him justice. Well done.

And I love how throughout the original five seasons, Thomas really grew up and matured, but never fully lost that cheeky edge of his
@@comicfan1324 My most relatable character was Henry. Growing up, it's either Duck or the main man Edward himself.
@@comicfan1324 And the Brenner era got him correct as well with cheekiness in tact.
I wanna read an Edward story set during his YOUNGER years, when he was basically 1890s Gordon.
That would also allow for an occasion where Edward makes some egregious mistake without being out of character, as this would be set before he matured, similar to how _Very Old Engines_ showed Skarloey as once being like that.
That ending was incredible
I especially love you included the theme from the 1991 film the little engine that could and it was redone in the Thomas style definitely brought back memories
And overall Edward is a character that should always be remembered
The one that started it all
If it weren’t for him there would be no Thomas & none of our love for it wouldn’t have existed
It says alot about a video when it only takes a few minutes for me to decide it's one of my favourites, Edward fan bias aside. Very well done Nic and to the team behind this one. Easily for me the best Sodor's Finest.

wowee, dewowowoo-
"WILL YOU CUT THAT OUT!"
The Unlucky Tug’s done it again
taking the first 2 Pilot Episodes of Sodor’s Finest “Edward & Gordon” and redoing them to be consistent for others.
Whenever Gordon the Big Engine gets redone, I will be glue on the channel for updates!
keep it going Nic, you’re doing great!
You KILLED IT! The Editing is exquisite and the video is put together so WELL! WOW.
Wow. Glad to see a full analysis of Edward. Can't wait to see a remake for Gordon.
Speaking of, excellent ending with him.
Me too! Gordon is my favorite character!
I loved the skits throughout the video especially the mix of Edward's theme and the main theme from the 90's Little Engine That Could movie
A Sodor's Finest on Edward?
Homework will have to wait.
If Edward is getting a remake, Gordon getting the same treatment gets me excited.
