"The Old Rugged Cross" is one of my favorite hymns. I look to the cross for refuge and comfort. 😇❤
That last verse and chorus, absolutely beautiful.
I keep coming back to this, my stepfather died the 13th of July, we had his funeral afew days later, he was onky 50.i stood along side my brothers as the congregation sang this, i am catholic as my brothers are,, but it broje me to hear this. Sang so beautifully as i gazed at his coffin and knew this was the last time i woukd see him
That's one of my favorite song, ever time, I sing the old rugged cross, Tears 😢 started to fall.
What a timeless hymn, yet timely to remind us Christ’s sacrifice for us and also for us to carry his cross till Christ our Lord comes for us again in the Clouds

@@midasbrain My voice isn't very good anymore due to respiratory problems and I have breathing problems. It's my fault for smoking 🚬 cigarettes and not taking care of my health. I'm unable to sing because of this. I blame myself for it. But I do play music 🎶 on my keyboard 🎹 piano, and violin.🎻

Back in early 1913 the rev George Bernard who was a Methodist minister in pokagon Michigan was asked by his Methodist colleague in Albion Michigan to write some music for a tent revival during holy week and he did and the Friday afternoon of that holy week tent revival a thunderstorm blew down the tent and so they moved inside an old saloon that went out of business and there was an old reed pump.organ in there and there it was from an old bar the world heard for the very first time the old rugged cross famous billy graham singer George Beverly Shea was just 6 years old in 1913 when he sang this old hymn
Latter on George Bernard would become an officer in the salvation army

Quick question Has anyone ever heard of the National Sunday Law? It's where one day they'll pass a law forcing us all to go to church on Sundays but the Sabbath is on Saturday so sabbath believers will have to refuse the Sunday law and rely on god. 🥰

十字架是基督教信仰的中心。「古舊十架」是世界各地的廣播電台最常採用的福音詩歌之一。在各大城市的宗教聚會中，福音的箭頭裝上音樂，將神的真理射進人們的心。它是福音在詩歌裏的縮影，像約翰福音3:16為福音在教義上的縮影一樣。
班納德牧師在密西根（Michigan）衛理公會在寶架岡（Pokagon）的牧師宿舍作本詩的歌詞與譜，1913年6月7日晚在該禮拜堂，由五人合組的詩歌班唱出這具有歷史的新詩。此外曾於芝加哥傳道學院一次聚會中介紹本詩，遂即傳佈各州，以至全球。
寶架岡教會每年開會記念這詩。附近的大石頭鐫刻著首次將此詩唱出的歌者的姓名。一個十二尺高，寫著本歌詞的十架掛在密西根的列德城（Reed City）附近的路旁，以記念這位作者。另一路標提醒過路人說，從這條路往下走，就是「名垂永久的作者班納德牧 師的故居」。保羅與西拉的夜半歌聲震動了腓立比的監獄 ，班納德的心聲照樣撼動無數人的心靈，把他們帶到十字架前來。
