The last couple’s guy exuded this aura of confidence, as expected of a guy who feels secure enough in his masculinity to date a taller woman. My dad was like that too, he was shorter than my mom and was the coolest dad I could’ve asked for. Let’s go short kings
I agree, there's nothing wrong with being short/dating shorter guys. Being shorter does not certainly make you look less beautiful. I actually thought that that guy married to the Russian woman was attractive. In Italy we have a phrase: from the smaller bottle you get good wine 🍷😉
Lol, as if guys not dating taller women has anything to do with men not feeling secure in their masculinity. It's because, generally, women want taller guys.
Yeah it's great if they confident cause they should be. But idk why another of short men, on the other hand are very insecure when they shouldn't be. I mean unless the aren't good looking as well then I'm sorry 🙏🏽
I'm glad he added the second couple. Often times we picture international couples being two completely different races. It's easy to assume all East Asians, let alone all Asians in general share the same culture even though they do intersect at some points. In the end, there are far more differences than people are aware of. Same way with African-Americans and Africans. We may share the same skin tone and features but our cultures are vastly different.
Your point would be better made if they had met in Hong Kong. This girl is very Canadian, which is not at all an Asian culture to begin with. And anyone who is surprised that an Asian can come from a different culture has never traveled. The only reason that people would make any assumption, is because this girl can pass as Japanese.
@Micheal DeAngelo That may be but African-Americans would still assimilate in Africa far better than any of these people would ever be able to. Videos like this make for an interesting study in the unusual but human beings, on average, still prefer to look at faces that reflect their own in their everyday lives. I love your channel so much. I’m probably not in your demographic I’m a 78 year old grandmother living in Minnesota,USA. My grandson lived and worked in Tokyo during the summer of 2019, he is now preparing to teach English in the Hyogo prefecture. I really enjoyed the interviews dealing with relationships that have cultural differences.Your channel is wonderful l learn so much watching you. Thank you.
That last married couple was amazing. It really shows how we are not bound by culture in order to love. We can all change and we do change no matter what.
I am from Europe and have been with my Japanese partner for almost 9 years . Best decision of my life ! We are living in Japan and I couldn’t be more happier.
It’s so refreshing to see men being humble enough to work on themselves for a strong relationship. All of them mentioned growth and caring for each other 🥰
The most surprising one has to be the last couple as the guy had lived his entire life in Japan and wasn't looking to go abroad. It is quite refreshing to see that he was open to change and end up getting married to a foreigner!
The second couple reminds me of my wife and I, I mean how our situation was when we were first dating. I’m Canadian, and she was there studying and yes, looking for a guy as well. 😆 And also like that couple, we came back to Japan expecting to only stay here for a couple of years before moving back to settle in Canada again. But… still in Japan 20 years later!
I immediately recognized Shota and Carolyn on your thumbnail and clicked on this video 😂 I'm glad you included them in this interview. A lot of the time when people think of mixed couples, they imagine a Japanese person and a Westerner but it's often overlooked how many mixed Japanese x other Asian couples there are and how their experiences are different from other mixed couples.
Thanks for conducting these interviews! I am white and American and my fiancé is from Japan. I love hearing the stories from other Japan-Foreigner couples like us! 😄
I watched this video when it first came out, but I had to come back and watch it again because I just love that married couple so much. They're clearly a bit older than the other couples you interviewed, and they're the only ones who have gotten married, and I think that gives them a different perspective from young couples who are still just dating. I love that they talk about their relationship and how it started, and how much it's changed their lives, especially his. I wish them the best for the future ♥
Let's go deeper into culture differences in relationships! I've noticed a trend where Japanese men and women see the goal of a relationship as getting married and having kids. As a Westerner, our goal of a relationship is companionship, and many people are choosing to be child-free and sometimes not even getting married, but live like a married couple. But in Japan, it seems like people who want to be child-free simply don't have any relationships.
I don't know what part of Europe you're from, but Poland, Ukraine, Belarus still belong to those more traditional unions. A woman who has many partners, according to the rules of these countries, she simply does not respect herself. There are a lot of singles, but they're not into fun, they're more focused on work.
It was fun to watch! Every couple is different and to learn how to communicate with each other is important to everyone! Waiting for the next episode!! 😊
My wife and I were LDR for 3 years, me here in Japan and her in the Philippines, it was a real struggle and we had a lot of fights online but we held on, now were married for 11 years.
ohhh its so nice to watch this and that some couples were also in the same situation than me and my Japanese boyfriend. We are in a long distance since January 2020 due to COVID but we will finally meet in autumn :) ! I wish those couples all the best ! Thank you for the video Takashi :)
The Aomori/Russian couple were definitely the most interesting. I loved 💕how straightforward and sincere she is in sharing her experience in Japan. 15:46 The discomfort between TAKASHii and the husband was very evident in their silent but obvious body language. That was very Cool. Both guys were in "Stealth" mode 🥷as in.. "You're going to edit✂️ that out right?" ... Very cute and cool couple.
Same with us ! I have a japanese boyfriend for almost 6 years now, he's in japan and I'm in canada. We've only seen each other for a total of 40 days in 65 months ! We met as a co worker here in Canada when we was in a working holiday here. We only dated about a month before we got official. He came to visit me here in Canada last August for 10 days and next year March I will be going to japan and will stay there for a month ! 🥰🥰 Love your videos !
The first couple reminds me so much of my relationship with my wife. She is Korean and I'm from Texas, but we met at grad school in Kentucky. I was so impressed with her intelligence and ability to understand such complicated assignments in English after she had only lived in America a few years. After visiting her family in Seoul I realized our cultural differences were actually an asset to our relationship, because these differences require you to learn from each other on a daily basis and as the first couple stated you can't have a fixed mindset. International couples have to commit to a growth mindset, which is incredibly healthy in the long run and a huge benefit is that you never get bored.
This was such a sweet watch! It's beautiful how who you choose as a partner can change you for the better, change your life, and open you up to new experiences that you might have never had if you didn't date them! Love your videos and what you're doing Takashii!
Wonderful video! It really shows that each person and their lives are unique, and that little choices can lead to big changes as long as you are open-minded and honest :) Before moving to Japan I didn't really have any preferences, but the japanese guys I meet now are all really nice and easy to talk to, so it's definetely changing
Thank you so much Takashii for this Video! It really portrays the realistic standpoint dating between foreigners and local Japanese. I plan to move to Japan for school and I do hope to have find that certain someone :D
11:05 interview made me have a baby tear 💧 This man . She says “ A Japanese partner is always indirect and never says what they’re thinking”.. “I always have to guess what he’s thinking ” a little back and forth and he says 12:05 “I’m getting better, day by day”. Some times if you break open tough, hard, things? You find unique, “maybe soft”,and wonderful things inside .
Thanks for this video As a kiwi woman married to a Japanese man it's always interesting for me to see interviews with other international couples and hear about their experiences 😊
Carolyn & Shota have such a similar story to mine and my Japanese boyfriend! I met him when he visited my university in America, and I also moved to Japan eventually. We’ve been together for 7ish years now? A lot of people tend to forget Asian-Americans or Asian-Canadians also count as foreigners when it comes to “Japanese-Foreigner” couples ahaha. My facial features can be similar to a Japanese girl’s, but the culture I grew up with is sooooo different.
That Chinese-Canadian girl is a natural polyglot. Although she didn’t speak her native Chinese language (Cantonese) her English and Japanese accents are spot on. When I studied in Japan I met quite a few at the university I studied at and most of them were European. Envied those polyglots.
"Attitude of enjoying the differences, Just because it's different it doesn't mean it's bad. We can enjoy the differences & we believe in each other to grow." Well said 6:06 👏😊
the first guy's last words and the chinese girl from second couple is very true..when u first start dating a japanese, they tend to keep things to themselves, very indirect, and not sure if her partner was honest ,kinda challenging at first..but hands down. thats all you need to hear abt the dating culture ♥️
Wow. I can completely relate to the first couple! I'm in an international relationship with someone from Japan. We met in January 2019 and around June of that year, we confessed our love for each other and committed to be in a long distance relationship. We visited each other back and forth between Osaka and Los Angeles 4 times that year. It went really well, then the pandemic happened. This made the long distance even further, as we were forced apart by the border restrictions. It was really hard on us, but after 2 and a half years, we got married while abroad and I have my visa to finally see her in less than 2 weeks. The overwhelming emotions I'm feeling right now is impossible to put into words. I'm just so happy to finally see her again!
Omg, the first couple was so cute, I definitely understand why Haruki was smitten with her when he first saw her, They both seem so intelligent and both being bilingual is definitely a pro. I like how the Boyfriend of the 2nd couple was interested in Living in Canada, Dating cross-culturally definitely requires growth and communication on both sides.
I can relate so much. My boyfriend is japanese, despite our cultural differences we are very happy. Canada is one of the most multicultural countries in the world, its obviously easier to be more open minded here.🇨🇦
These are always interesting ☺️ my wife and I are an international couple 😊 She is from Utsunomiya, I am from NY. We met in Japan in 2005 and got married in 2008. We live and work in NY but stay in Japan in July and August during our summer work holiday and we are here in Utsunomiya right now 😊 it’s nice to see the stories of other international couples. Thank you Takashi!
I love the story of the last couple, it is amazing how the Japanese guy was opened minded, even though he doesn’t have experience abroad. Thank you for this interview!
me and my Japanese hubby met in NZ in 1999 when he was doing a working holiday visa there. I fell in love with him the first time I saw him, but I was just a friend as I thought he would return to Japan one day and I couldn't imagine what would happen if I declared my feelings to him. so fortunately for me, he confessed his feelings to me! in 2000 he returned to Japan, and I went with him for a month to spend time with his family and him. then I moved to Australia to be with my family and then when the sydney olympics were on , it was very cheap to fly to Japan, since me and my hubby (boyfriend at the time) hadnt seen each other in person for almost 6 months, so we werent sure if we would want to continue our relationship etc. those days there was no face time or anything, and phone calls were very expensive, so we wrote to each other each day and sent the letter off to each other once a month, and we also talked over the phone once a month. we were then long distance after that trip (me in Australia and him in Japan) after several months we got married in Australia and then lived there for 2 years, and then we moved to Japan in 2003, so almost 20 years ago. I think the main difficulties is just typical man and woman things not particularly for culture perhaps the kiwi way of doing things is similar to Japan im very happy living here and raising our children here of course some problems will come up in the first couple of years, but that is common for any couple once you get past those, working as a team, and treat each other as best friend and partner, the arguments will not be common respect for each other is the most important thing
my parents were a long distance relationship (america and greece), albeit in a time well before social media or the internet, so the idea of long distance is pretty okay with me, but even with that, the way covid inserted itself into the first story sounds so excruciating, i don't know if i could bear it major respect to all the couples for coming together and using their differences as a way to better each other. love to see it (also, great video as always!)
This is the perfect video for me right now - I’m coming to Japan for the summer to see my partner after being long distance for over a year (we used LINE instead of Facetime though, but the messed-up sleep schedule part is so real 😂). Seeing that we’re not the only couple who went through this stuff is super inspiring 💪

Very lovely couples, very respectful comments about the situation and about that kind of experience. One thing that i have had noticed in asian countries (on videos ) about this, is that the majority sees foreigners just as a thing to try.....just like we are things no people.
Thank you, I am really enjoying your channel! Very interesting and wonderful. Love hearing about the cultural differences and seeing how people grow and change as they learn more! Great job👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I'm glad people are being more open to LDR in these times and days. Back when I met my husband, it was still consider something "weird", so we hid it for some time from our friends and families. We are together for 15 years now. 6 years of LDR + 9 years of being married and living together.

Good for you 😍
do u see many japanese men with foreign woman?
@@tednguyen7258 I see but it is very rare .
It’s so refreshing to see men being humble enough to work on themselves for a strong relationship. All of them mentioned growth and caring for each other 🥰
Yes, I noticed that.
And also like that couple, we came back to Japan expecting to only stay here for a couple of years before moving back to settle in Canada again.
But… still in Japan 20 years later!
What a great video! Hearing about the longevity and the stories of these couples was very cool. Thank you, Takashi! Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you so much for watching!!
I’m gonna upload a video about Japanese girl & foreign guy couples soon!!
Stay tuned!
日本ではなぜか上記のカップルの方が多いよね。
Tahashii San,you should date foreigner too
The comment above is kind of ステキそう〜😆😆😆
@@ene8894 でも、国際結婚は男の方が多いのは何故?
@@hanahana2931 たしかに印象と統計は違ってますね。白人との国際結婚を念頭に置いてしまっているようです。
Cute couples
Your english intonations have improved a lot in this video! Keep up the good work!
🙋🏻♀️ that is my situation! And I’ve never seen videos about couples like us. Thanks for this comment, and thanks Takashii-san!
Perhaps there is more nuanced similarities and common to date someone more identifiable within ones race?
Thanks for conducting these interviews! I am white and American and my fiancé is from Japan. I love hearing the stories from other Japan-Foreigner couples like us! 😄
Loved the last couple. So honest and comfortable with the essence of what they wanted out of their relationship❤
Thank you so much for the interview! It was fun✨
There are a lot of singles, but they're not into fun, they're more focused on work.
yep, 100%. asian cultures date to marry. family is very important as well.
Thank you for the video Takashi :)
how did it go?
The Aomori/Russian couple were definitely the most interesting.
I loved 💕how straightforward and sincere she is in sharing her experience in Japan. 15:46
The discomfort between TAKASHii and the husband was very evident in their silent but obvious body language. That was very Cool. Both guys were in "Stealth" mode 🥷as in.. "You're going to edit✂️ that out right?" ... Very cute and cool couple.
I didn't get what you're talking about
He didn’t edit it out…
Same with us !
Love your videos !
It really shows that each person and their lives are unique, and that little choices can lead to big changes as long as you are open-minded and honest :)
Before moving to Japan I didn't really have any preferences, but the japanese guys I meet now are all really nice and easy to talk to, so it's definetely changing
Nanna nice to meet you again 😊 it has been a while lol 😃
最初のアメリカ人めっちゃ可愛い!
2番目の香港と日本のカップルめっちゃ良い!
3番目のロシアと日本の夫婦もめっちゃ好き!
Some very loving couples who admire each other! That is a beautiful relationship. And the level of Japanese is amazing once again.
Love is an UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE 💞
It doesn't matter the size, the color, or the clothes you wear, but what you truly feel in your heart 💖
Thank you so much Takashii for this Video! It really portrays the realistic standpoint dating between foreigners and local Japanese. I plan to move to Japan for school and I do hope to have find that certain someone :D
Damn, I wanted each of these interviews to be a lot longer! Very interesting stuff
I heckin love watching these videos. It’s so interesting looking in on Japanese culture, keep churning out these videos Takashii!!
Thanks for this video
As a kiwi woman married to a Japanese man it's always interesting for me to see interviews with other international couples and hear about their experiences 😊
“Her English accent is spot on”. Lol, she’s Chinese-CANADIAN, most likely English is her native language. Your subtle racism is showing.
"Attitude of enjoying the differences,
Just because it's different it doesn't mean it's bad.
We can enjoy the differences & we believe in each other to grow."
Well said 6:06 👏😊
Great channel Takashi! Very informative and great for a person looking to learn more about Japanese culture and customs.
the first guy's last words and the chinese girl from second couple is very true..when u first start dating a japanese, they tend to keep things to themselves, very indirect, and not sure if her partner was honest ,kinda challenging at first..but hands down. thats all you need to hear abt the dating culture ♥️
I'm just so happy to finally see her again!
and then she fucks with other guy.
That's so inspiring !! I wish an eternal happiness for the both of you 💫
How sweet ❤️ 😍, wish you the best for both of you!
I like the way you interview - it is very gentle, disarming and to-the-point.
These couples were utterly cute and I also loved the advice of the first couple.
Glad to see that they’re still together! Saw their first interview a year ago. Really rooting for them.
Loved the last couple. Her Japanese is impeccable.
I love the story of the last couple, it is amazing how the Japanese guy was opened minded, even though he doesn’t have experience abroad. Thank you for this interview!
Very interesting interviews. All the best to these young couples. The third couple speaking all in Japanes was very nice. Thank-you for the subtitles.
Each relationship was so precious to see. They're so beautiful. Very cute & sweet
me and my Japanese hubby met in NZ in 1999 when he was doing a working holiday visa there. I fell in love with him the first time I saw him, but I was just a friend as I thought he would return to Japan one day and I couldn't imagine what would happen if I declared my feelings to him. so fortunately for me, he confessed his feelings to me!
in 2000 he returned to Japan, and I went with him for a month to spend time with his family and him. then I moved to Australia to be with my family and then when the sydney olympics were on , it was very cheap to fly to Japan, since me and my hubby (boyfriend at the time) hadnt seen each other in person for almost 6 months, so we werent sure if we would want to continue our relationship etc.
those days there was no face time or anything, and phone calls were very expensive, so we wrote to each other each day and sent the letter off to each other once a month, and we also talked over the phone once a month. we were then long distance after that trip (me in Australia and him in Japan)
after several months we got married in Australia and then lived there for 2 years, and then we moved to Japan in 2003, so almost 20 years ago.
I think the main difficulties is just typical man and woman things not particularly for culture
perhaps the kiwi way of doing things is similar to Japan
im very happy living here and raising our children here
of course some problems will come up in the first couple of years, but that is common for any couple
once you get past those, working as a team, and treat each other as best friend and partner, the arguments will not be common
respect for each other is the most important thing
Very adorable!
my parents were a long distance relationship (america and greece), albeit in a time well before social media or the internet, so the idea of long distance is pretty okay with me, but even with that, the way covid inserted itself into the first story sounds so excruciating, i don't know if i could bear it
major respect to all the couples for coming together and using their differences as a way to better each other. love to see it
(also, great video as always!)

Weeb...you got catfished
The Chinese-Canadian woman is very pretty.
I agree she's gorgeous 😍
great interviews, people seem very comfortable opening up to you.
Cutie couples!!! Especially the first one they're so in love 💗 that's a lot of effort! their eyes glow when they look at each other too ✨ This was nice thank you!

Another fun and informative video! And everyone was so cute and wholesome! 🥹 Thank you, Takashi! I’m looking forward to what comes next!
Takashii, I remember meeting you on hello talk and watching your videos since last year. It’s so good to see how far you’ve come. So glad TH-cam worked out for you! I love your videos keep it up :)
another fascinating insight into how people's minds work. keep them coming.
I really enjoy your channel. Thank you for the work you do to share this content!
Love love love the last couple. Love how the man didn’t even speak English!!! I love Japan culture!
This is super interesting, my husband is Japanese and I’m Mexican, but for now I’m still in Mexico with our kids. I like your videos a lot
The world may seem on fire right now yet watching this video instills hope. Thanks so much, Takashii ❤
The first dude words omg😭 they're such a cute couple omg
So many cute couples I almost want to cry. Please love each other and take care of each other!!!
They are all so cute
Awwww I hope you he confesses his love to you!!!
Ooh, this was really interesting to watch. Will you interview any black x Japanese couples? I would really love to see their dynamic
I started dating a Japanese guy so I've been watching videos like this one. I love this a lot~ ❤️
omg this guys are so lucky, all these women are sooo beautiful
Very lovely couples, very respectful comments about the situation and about that kind of experience.
One thing that i have had noticed in asian countries (on videos ) about this, is that the majority sees foreigners just as a thing to try.....just like we are things no people.
Just like in every country, if you are a minority I suspect.
Thank you, I am really enjoying your channel! Very interesting and wonderful. Love hearing about the cultural differences and seeing how people grow and change as they learn more! Great job👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great Takashi!! Love these couples?? Very opened minded people good luck to them all💖💖
They were all so cute together-
but especially the last couple allmost had me tear - you could realy feel their genuine love for each other!
The married couple was so cute. He loves her so much 🤣
I just found your videos and really enjoy your content! My dad served a 2 year mission to Japan before I was born and I have always wanted to visit the country. I can't wait to visit one day.
This was such a great topic! Hope you do more like again💕
Hmm 🙄🙄
I'm K by name from Germany, where are you from ??
I'm glad people are being more open to LDR in these times and days. Back when I met my husband, it was still consider something "weird", so we hid it for some time from our friends and families. We are together for 15 years now. 6 years of LDR + 9 years of being married and living together.
This video was so sweet I was smiling through the whole video :D
The three couples are all very different and they all seems very sweet.
i like the last couple. The husband really direct and honest. Hahahaha!
the first couple was very cute... i think they have a bright future ahead...
