Chinese here, for anyone that’s confused about the beginning, you are not playing as Wukong in this game but a character nicknamed “Destined one”, and you would go on several different journeys to unlock the secrets of the current world that are somehow crucial to the revival of Wukong. The world is set after the events in the Chinese classic novel “Journey to the west”, at the end of the novel, Wukong has finished his assigned duty and was named a Buddha by the Buddha himself, but at the beginning of the game it looks like Wukong has yet again done something that “annoyed” the celestials (because his character by design was a monkey king that does not follow any rules whatsoever) and thus was being punished, he mentioned “what I don’t understand is you killing my kind” was referred to in Chinese his fellow monkeys living with him in his mountains, so the celestials might have been slaughtering his friends as an act of punishment. At the end you could see that on his head there were a glowing ring which made him lose power, that is a direct reference to the novel that in which the Buddha put that ring on his head to restrain him at the beginning of the “journey to the west”. So the Buddha might have again activated it to help the celestials. This game has loads and loads of references to the original novel and as a Chinese this is a real treat! Really hope y’all enjoy this game and maybe dive into the “journey to the west” lore which is just a fantastic book that every single Chinese been familiar with growing up. 15:06 PS5 owner here… started playing right when it released. The graphics are pretty great and I haven’t noticed any frame drops. It definitely seems to be running steadily around 60. I know on PS5 there’s no way to know the Framerate for sure but it seems as consistent and smooth enough to other stable 60fps titles.
I’ve noticed some big drops in like very certain cases like this waterfall in chapter 1 anytime I moved my camera near it I had like 10 fps, other than that 0 bugs no crashes and frame rate has been very solidly consistent aside from few big boss attacks which has costed me a hit or two. Overall tho the gameplay and cinematics is fucking amazing. Enjoying it so much so far

This game reminds me way more of God of War than it does a souls game, especially the intro and the mythology focus. For me its like Chinese God of War.

Game Science cooked well, the God of War, Wo Long fusion dish. Couple of hours in on PS5, no bugs no performance issues. Only criticism I have is the excessive use of invisible walls and less than ideal lip-sync for the dialogue. (Edit: I do recommend Digital Foundry review on PS5 version though, while performance mode is stable 60 and there are no bugs, there are big technical issues with all graphics modes, most notably the uncapped framerates in quality and balance mode and input lag in performance mode...)

Honestly, so far it feels to me the combat like if stelar blade was more centered into dodging with no block and more zippy. Im enjoying it, im on PS5 and so far its running good. Im alrready in chapter 2. My only complaint so far is a very stupid one, invisible walls 😅. But yea, im having fun with it.

The Light attack doesn’t feel good to me and the skill tree was disappointing because theres not alot of extended combos you can unlock but the bosses was the main positive for me so far

I think the lip syncing is off because it's shot to match the Chinese language possibly. That's what I was thinking as I played the first hour anyway.

PS5 player here. Running smoothly so far with some small frame rate dips, but for the most part it’s holding at around 60

I think so, I’m having a lot of fun. It’s not a perfect game but you can tell it’s made with a lot of passion
erlang is supposed to be an extremely high ranking god in the hierarchy of the celestial court, nephew to the jade emperor himself and regarded as the single most powerful fighter in all realms, master of both physical and magical arts, yet somehow in this game he is the tutorial boss

First impression a minute in the voice acting is extremely unique for the main character. Sounds like Mayuri Kurotsuchi from bleach 😅
Almost forgot his looks to voice also match the shock when you see Kurotsuchi's real face.

Honestly, so far it feels to me the combat like if stelar blade was more centered into dodging with no block and more zippy. Im enjoying it, im on PS5 and so far its running good. Im alrready in chapter 2. My only complaint so far is a very stupid one, invisible walls 😅. But yea, im having fun with it.
I mean it IS a linear game, I'd rather there be obvious ways you can't go than to have the environment be more "closed" or something instead.
@@zerosolis6664 I agree, i just think there are better ways to handle it that are less immersion breaking. But its ok, world is still beautifull and game is fun.
The Light attack doesn’t feel good to me and the skill tree was disappointing because theres not alot of extended combos you can unlock but the bosses was the main positive for me so far

The opening was amazing, I remember the other game which had an amazing opening was FARCRY 3. Definitely would grind this game. Kudos to cowboy.🤠
