When I stayed home with my son, I put an ad on Craigslist to clean. Although I couldn't stay home and do that, I could either bring my 4 year old or drop him at his grandmas and I'd clean a couple homes at $25 an hour, for just a few hours. It beat being strapped to 9-5 receptionist for 12/13 bucks an hour.

My mom raised me. Single mother in California and realtor with no grandma to take care of me. Thankfully her job allowed her to take me with her to showings and keep me in her office after school.

I’ve been a realtor for 5 years. Ive worked in the top producing office in east Texas and let me tell you, it’s not “at your own pace” like Dave explains. Our top producing agents had assistants like how Dave explained, and if paperwork is sent over, it’s expected to be done same day, really within hours or minutes. Good agents work on efficiency. Having an assistant that works their own hours isn’t reasonable. You need to be available 24-7, 7 days a week.

Dave Ramsey is very insightful but this is why I cant stand him..All of his success stories with money are people who make 10x the money I do and then just when I think he might offer a legit stay at home job idea, the woman has a real estate license or whatever so he just says "Renew that, there ya go" pretty basic advice for a small margin of peoples

Dave, if by chance you happen to read this comment, could you recommend a avenue for my wife to seek at home employment? She has about 10 years experience as a vice president of a local bank, primarily and personal and some commercial lending. She will be looking to stay homeand raise our children as soon as they come along, but she wants to start preparing for that eventuality now

I hate this term of "stay at home mom" it's so 19-20 century .... get a job / freelancing / remote job ...

I agree with you K. So many parents leave the TV to raise their kids because they're either never home (working) or always busy and don't give enough time to the kids. I agree that being a parent is the most important job to have. People tend to only remember that when some 19 year old guns down his classmates or a 12 year old is sentenced as an adult. Let the streets/neighborhood raise the child while you're off working and you'll get a street kid down the line.

Childcare is EXPENSIVE. Sometimes it's cheaper for one to stay home than too work.

The term is pretty straight forward. A stay home mom is a mom who stays home with her kids instead of spending the majority of her time away from them. Instead of leaving to work you stay home. Just like a work at home mom is a mom who does work, outside of caring for home and family, but it's done at home. Pretty straight forward and still very relevant to our day and time.

No, taking care of your family and home is not "so last century" thats idiotic. Taking care of your family is now and will always be good work.

SAHM is a "Free Pass" for many women. Given the "choice" of staying home when you have kids, ......or spending 40 mins driving to work, arriving to work on time, dealing with a Boss, having to meet deadlines, dealing with customers, having to create, having to perform, ......wouldn't we all want to stay home with our children????
If a man says at 30; "I'm leaving my career for 6 years to start a family", then he is castigated......borderline accused of "Are you crazy"?
If a woman says at 30; "I'm leaving my career for 6 years to start a family", then she is praised....."You go girl. Congratulations!"
      SMH.

What if you just want a stay at home job. Tried Amazon selling used books( lost money)trying poshmark and maybe 1 item will sell in 3 months making $2 profit.( definitely doesn’t pay bills) Pangobooks is fun to use but doesn’t make a living ( I buy books with any profits) I’m not the best on the computer but I try. It just seems to far over my head for a TH-cam channel, I wouldn’t even know what to film. Can’t code and create an app. Gave up on trying to sign in with ebay, said I messed it up and I don’t want to call to fix it because it’s probably not worth it like Amazon and poshmark weren’t for me. I don’t know how to create t-shirts. Don’t think I can teach kid’s English. Fb marketplace, if you have something free to give away they want you to bring it to them. If you sell something you have a 50/50 chance they’ll show up. Waste time and gas money. Don’t want to babysit or watch pets. I don’t have money to buy a place and rent it out. I live in a poor area so people wouldn’t pay high rent anyway. What is there left? What can I do to make money at home? Seriously
