  • We were lucky enough to climb with Tom Randall during the recent Fair Head climbing meet in Northern Ireland. The huge 100m crag is a crack climbers paradise so we were expecting Tom to put on a show. He didn’t disappoint; despite the rain and running out of gear in the final stages, he managed to tick a Fair Head classic.
    Check out the RAB gear Tom wears:

    "It's costs nothin!" As hundreds of dollars of gear jingles on his harness. Haha cracks me up! Awesome content!

    Still don't understand the british grading system...
    Can we say that the adjectival grade stands for the "exposure" of the climb, and the technical grade for the "pure" difficulty of the climb, regardless of the "exposure"?

    • @alextaylor9139
      @alextaylor9139 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Antoine Vatré Sort of but if the tech grade is high like a 6a the e grade will also go up with that grade. So e3 6a would be hardish climbing with good gear, where as 5a e3 would be easy climbing with like no gear at all.

      Mostly, but the adjectival is the technical difficulty of the route, AND the, as you say, the 'exposure' of the route combined.
      This means you could have a really well protected E1 5c, and a really poorly protected E1 5a, for example.
      Hope this helped somewhat,

      GRÄFF PRODUKTION Reduce rope drag

      It helps on winding routes that have placements all over the place....stuff on the right of center you use one rope, stuff on the left the other. That way you don't have your rope look more like a suture up the rock and end up with impossible rope drag.
