The thing I loved about the original 2010 game (and Hot Pursuit 2 before it) was that they had that Outrun vibe where you're racing cool cars through beautiful landscapes, something missing from a lot of racing games and I'm glad it was mentioned here.
Kuru said it correctly. Nowadays racing games are so dead on freeroam that you only get to drive on that one map. Even The Run did it much better on landscape. Not every single thing has to be freeroam but there will be extremely vocal people that demands it
The car colour matching the One X and PS4 Pro comparison was a nice touch.

Burnout 3: Takedown needs a remaster so bad. I would lose my shit.
@@DocRobotnik because the version of Revenge that is backward compatible is the Xbox 360 version
Some cool guys reverse engineered GTA 3 and Vice City and made an open source version. The even better thing about it GTA used the RenderWare Engine, so a native open source Burnout 3 could be possible.
@@skelehase id lose my shit
In my eyes it’s still the best arcade racing game ever made, might not be open world like paradise but it’s track layouts and ai are perfectly balanced to make every encounter in a race feel like a fist fight for the next position
I'd like a new Burnout Game, but The Criteon of Today is almost completely devoid of the people who made those games. Particularly the leads.
Not saying a good Burnout can't be made. I'm sure it can with the right people with the right passion. Just saying it's not going to actual be made by most of the same people even if the company name is the same.
Can't make a new NFS that's decent?
Just remaster an old one.
NFS Heat was great
@@BlackHaZe_ The issue with Payback and Heat is they prioritize story over racing. Older nfs games prioritized racing over story. Which honestly is fine, if the story is at least half decent. The acting, the animation, the voice acting, is all sub budget level dogshit.
The 2016 NFS was pretty damn good.
Can't wait for Most Wanted (original) to get a remaster

I can conclusively agree with others that the Xbox performance issue was fixed-tested it using the LG OLED VRR info box in both Career and Freeplay, at both 60 and 120 Hz output, and with VRR on and off. No matter what the game never drops frame rate now in that coastal region.
Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005 would be a great remaster.

And the Underground including Carbon.

Like god damn were the ppl really asking for a hot pursuit remaster?
100%
I imagine EA would have jumped on remastering underground/mostwanted/carbon a long time ago if it wasn't for licensing. They couldn't even bring back all the cars for this hot pursuit remaster, imagine asking all the companies for their 20 year old models of basic road cars like vauxhall corsa's and dodge neons. They'd be like "wtf, no, use our 2021 models or none at all."
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit II needs a remaster/remake based on the PS2 version.
YES!!!!!
Yea, totally. My mate and I used to play that non stop lol
Exactly
These fps drops are even present on the PC. It's a bug that was present in the old version as well. The solution is to uncheck CPU core 0 (Affinity in task manager).
Not necessarily uncheck Core 0, but just mess a bit with Core Affinity in Task Manager.
I confirm this too.
Not present on ps5 at all, so is it really a bug?
I thinkits more of an asset decompression problem.
We been seen lots of this examples when it comes to 3rd party games and XSX having problems with loading assets properly, problems that by the way its ps5 counterparts never manifest.
At this point I'm 99% sure it has to do with the velocity architecture, because XSX should have no problem running this game, and even the weaker ps5 has zero problems.

and a need for speed most wanted 2005 remaster would be nice to
This game is pure arcade fun driving cool cars in a beautiful scenery and drifting at 200kph+ in tight corners. Such a blast and it reminds me of Outrun SP2 on PS3 indeed, which by the way was already running at 1080p back in the day. Other NFS games don't have that simple gameplay where you just grab a car and race at high speed and drift like a maniac through the bends. This Remastered version at 60fps and great AA/AF is amazing and all I want from an arcade racing game. It is in fact so good that cars have gained in handling (low input latency at 60fps) and I'm having no issues easily beating my old PS3 time records. This is my favourite NFS ever for what I value in an arcade racer. No grind, storyline, missions, speedlist, speed points, hiding etc. Simple, to the point. I just want to race at high speed and ideally not in cramped urban areas.

I actually really liked Hot pursuit. I played with mates a lot and Autolog was great to see friends beating you on tracks. Why I preferred this over many NFS is the fact it was more linear. No driving around hiding from police before you got to a race. This was just pure start to finish racing which I was drawn to. I found it cleaner without all the pottering. Having said that I love Forza Horizon which is open world but not in NFS. Don’t know why!
I already had the original on PC, but I bought the remaster when it was on sale. The PC original never got the DLC that the console versions did, so if you ever only played this game on PC you are getting stuff you haven't seen before. It's still a fun arcade racer.
Why in the Title there is not ""a clear Playstation Advantage"", as it would be the case if XSX was the superior version, and Digital Bias Foundry wouldn't have hesitated to put in capital letters ;""but what's wrong with the PS5 version"" or ""a clear XSX advantage"".
Are you talking about the hitman 3 video? 4K over 1800p is a clear advantage, this is just one outlier.
So far hitman 3 is the only game where one console has that kind of advantage over the other.
@@RodrigoOliveira-to3xs that would be true if it was 40 fps for the whole game, but at one little stretch of a massive map the difference in avg fps is minimal.
Hitman 3 also had better settings enabled on xbox, so far that game is the only next gen title with that kind of advantage between systems, hence the title.

@@nemodemolishedgamer7440 Or get a job and afford a 4k TV. If you can afford a next gen console, 4ktv shouldn't be an issue. Or better, get a pc instead of a series X since all their exclusives are going to be there
Can’t wait to play this on PS5 in 2025. One of my favourite racing games ever, Criterion were absolute gods of the genre.
The back compat on xbox is clearly very accurate. Which is normally awesome but to fix it means they would have to go back to patch the OG version. My guess is they won't bother. Should've just moved SDK. Unlocked frame rate on last gen is not worth it.
I’m glad they mentioned this here for the series x because the same applies for the ps5. BC games depend a lot on the old code base, which is why ps5 performs worse with division 2 and ghost recon. Nothing to do with the console as we can clearly see on newly developed game: outriders, Valhalla, fenix risings it always performs well. Hitman 3 probably has a code base issue on the ps5 as it looks a lot like a rehash of hitman 1-2, similar assets.
False. The console depending on its design, can make an old or new game look good. See the series X. The games you mentioned either play best on the X or they're matching the PS. The PS is fine but I expect the gap to widening as time progresses.
@@jayevans20 I don’t agree, but we’ll see. Pretty much every new game has been only a marginal difference when enough development time has gone into it. The BC games like division are based on old code base and engines, so I expect those will be the larger anomalies. I expect the series x to have 15 percent gap in future games, but even that does not seem to be consistent throughout the game. The only exception was hitman 3 so far. Let’s see if it continues.
With how close the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X get to 60fps while running in 4k, makes me wonder why the preformance mode is only 1080p for both consoles. I feel like they could have gotten with 1440p on the Pro and about 1800p on the One X.
15:08 Well, no... You can just press the home button and see if it says 'Auto HDR' in the top right corner. It's not that hard, guys.
Not very hard at all lol
If this is nearly running 4K60 on Last Gen, why does it have a 60fps lock now?
This really should be a 4K120fps title.
@@somegit7113 Crap.
I guess that just means we need to use this as precedent to say that Framerate Caps are a Crime Against Humanity.
Someone needs to write up legislation stating that videogames are not allowed to be developed with hard coded framerate limits.
There is no 4k 60fps mode on last gen, rewatch the beginning of the video
At least 4k 120 with option to lock to 60fps
The game wouldn’t run on 120 without more tweaking to the BC code. Maybe at 1080p they could get this to work but it’s probably more troublesome without rebuilding from the ground up.

PS5 is so buttery smooth.
It's weird that almost all xbox series x games with 60 fps enable has some spot or place or whatever that makes the frame drop. It's not a big deal but it's interesting at least.
Hints at either a design flaw or a major bottleneck that *maybe* can be fixed over time (if it's a design flaw, they'd need a whole new design/revision to address it). I wouldn't even harp on this if Microsoft themselves didn't do early marketing/messaging on "TEH POWAH!!" and pushing power narrative so much as if they knew for an absolute fact they were more powerful than PS5.
Like the old saying goes, "let the games do the talking". Microsoft should remember that for now on.
It could just be a Driver/API overhead, or small architecture problem. One thing is clear that it will definitely improve as time goes on... Such a shame they didn't update the framerates on the Series S. It remained 30fps while the console could easily do 60fps. Sad days
I don't think that drop on Series X is a bug; the rocks are probably pushing a lot of geometry and Series X has a lower culling and triangle rasterization rate than PS5 (by over a billion, 7.3 gpolys/s vs. 8.9 gpolys/s).
That might be impacting the performance because they probably didn't reduce the poly count on them and are still trying to hit performance parity with PS5 (while probably having a slightly higher resolution).
this is an xbox 360 game are you high? forza horizon 4 is 100x more detailed than this yet runs at flawless 4k60. there's probably more polygons in one car in forza than there is in all these rocks combined. xbox has incredible culling capacities and we haven't even touched mesh shaders yet.

The developer needs to make a 1440p resolution available the S doesn't output 4K or does it?
@@dexmael2526 erm no, its because series S uses xbox one S sdk for backwards compatible games and not the xbox one X versions when it could easily play xbox one X versions with dynamic resolution. So like i say, Microsoft really should sort that out
They should make Photo mode, mandatory that'll increase frame rate cycles
@@dexmael2526 The Series S can output 4k to a screen, but as another user said, it plays the base Xbox One version of backwards compatible games, not the One X version. So even though it can output 4k, it is limited to the maximum output of the base Xbox One for games that aren't specifically optimized for it.
Microsoft says that native Series S games should target 1440p when the same games on Series X target 4k, but it has the capability to render at 4k for more simple games. I believe that the Series S version of Ori and the Will of the Wisps runs at 4k and Falconeer runs at 1800p, which would look pretty good on a 4k screen. But most AAA titles will probably target 1080p or possibly 1440p on the Series S.
They already have for the most part. The new FPS boost feature will help alleviate the frustration of One S games being locked at 30FPS on Series S. Resolutions will still be suboptimal but at least the game would run smoother
TH-cam reduces quality so much… when they say crisp and beautiful, I just see heh… even on 1080p 60 fps.
In this instance though, the game just doesn't look that much better than the original. It was a very lazy cash grab.

Strange how there's always a defence for something going wrong on SX. But they, more often than not, just accept something not right on the PS5.
PS5 out performs SX, DF: we don't know what's happening... It's not the hardwares fault. It can be fixed.
SX outperforms PS5, DF: oh yeah, just as we expected. No surprise here.
😒🤦🏾♂️
I'm guessing but it's probably because the Series X is 12.55 TFLOPS and PS5 is 10.28, so in theory the Series X should perform better, however it's obvious there's more to it than that.

I really think about it too half the power of Series x makes Solid 1080 60fps console not a sub1080p xbox like what it is now
I think the series s could run at 60fps. It is using the Xbox one s upgrade instead of the Xbox one x. DF literally said it in the video that it could do it. Plus I’m sure the 4tf of Zen is more powerful than 6tf of the old Jaguar from Xbox one x.

So digital foundry hasn’t figured out that xbox uses directx api and playstation their own api (kinda vulkan), that’s where the issues in that specific area relies and by the look of it this is more like a issue with streaming data rather than gpu performance, but what I know you guys are the expert in the matter
they know that, but won't blame dx... despite clear that dx has issues even on xsx :(
DirectX especially DX12 have issues even on PC, DF clearly knows that. The sad part is that Microsoft probably won't fix it.
streaming data? lmao this is an xbox 360 game.
Yeah, the issue is there on the PC version in that spot as well.
@@supermadkid ahh yeah, just because it's an old game doesn't mean it's not streaming textures, or other data.
Usual thing. Series X just can't do a constant 60fps like the PS5. Despite the Series X having better specs...
I honestly don't get it.
Smart shift
ps5 has better optimization tools. The xbox was behind in giving developers tools. In a year, almost every game should run better on xbox.
Pretty sure it's due to the majority of games on PS5 are running at a lower resolution, and Xbox is running at 4k. Notice most games the Xbox series X is running at a native 4k, while the PS5 is running at a lower resolution, so of course it's going to be easier for the PS5 to lock at 60 FPS.
but with this game both are running 4k because it's pretty old and easy to run at this resolution. But the issue here is something else entirely. It's the game devs fault on this one.
I have a suspicion that it's down to DirectX, either it's an issue with the game engine on how it handles DirectX, or it's DirectX itself.
Because the same issue is in the PC version in the exact same spots, both the Xbox and PC version use the DirectX API.
The PS5 is usually a different API altogether, so it gets around this issue entirely.
The specs on Series X isn't night and day compared to the PS5. It's pretty comparable. The Series X is stronger, but not leagues stronger.
It's obviously a game bug since it only occurs in one spot and is also present on One X and PC. Nothing to do with specs.
Just got the game on Switch during the black friday sales. Only $20 aud. Had this on 360 back in the day and while it would be nice to play this game in 40k 60fps its just so cool playing this in handled mode
Got this and Paradise Remastered. I hope for NFS Most Wanted Remastered, too. I didn't really get a chance to play much of any of them on Xbox 360.
