Burton Cummings was the voice of my teenage years, the voice of my twenties, thirties, forties, and fifties. In my 60s, I kept coming back to his voice. I'm 68 now - and he is still the voice!!!
Must not be a really huge fan if this the 1st time hearing this song. It's off the #10 album with another great song "Musicione" which is very high on my list of favorite Guess Who songs. Find it and find out how great it is
Just seeing ANY Guess Who footage from the 70s in this excellent quality is a blessing. Loved this song, unsure if this can be released these day. David Bowie loved the track.
I love the Guess Who - those Canadian men had it going on! 🎶🍁 🇨🇦 Pretty cool remembrance song for Bowie… my all time favorite, and, I LOVE Burtons voice !!
It’s our hometown Boy!! I was born and grew up in the very city where Burton Cummings and The Guess Who were born Winnipeg ,Canada. Burton has a Performing Arts Venue named in his honor here. As Canadian and Canadian Prairie Boy makes it Big in showbiz as it comes 🇨🇦🇨🇦😊😊👍🏻👍🏻⭐️🌟✨⭐️
Although originally written as a putdown of Bowie, Burton Cummings now performs this song as a tribute to the Starman, who always had a great British sense of humour and thought it was funny when he first heard it.
I’ve never “Glamour Boy” (GB) until this morning. When I first listened to the lyrics I initially thought it was inspired by “Dog Day Afternoon” (DDA) but GB released in 1973 while DDA released in 1975 so it wasn’t really possible. But after reading a bit the lead singer said it was inspired by David Bowie. (In DDA Al Pacino is robbing a bank to pay for his boyfriend’s sex-change operation and I believe it was around the dollar figure brought up in GB.)
Not that I’ve tried it but I think for maybe zero dollars I could “look like a woman tonight.” My wife has some makeup lying around and a dress or two. I’ll have to wing it because I wouldn’t know what I’m doing. I have a feeling I might not be a “looker” though.
😆 And now we have an entire generation that can not figure out if they one or the other. They are too stupid to know what the items they were born with between their legs mean. They are so confused, they think there are dozens of genders. This song is incredibly relevant for these times.
@@kenneth2875Good List. I really like Burton Cummings voice. With that said, I agree with Steve Perry and Meatloaf and I'll raise you (using a poker analogy) Freddie Mercury. I like Michael McDonald a lot too but his voice is unique, just like Burton Cummings.
One of the best voices ever - crystal clear

One of my favorite voices in rock ❤
Been a Guess Who fan since I was a child and never heard this one!! Great song and feels really prevalent now.

Best voice in the Biz !!
A great example of 2 musicians from different cultures could make fantastic recordings….respect for one another!
Wow, what a voice!!!🔝
Such a great band 🙂👍
Long live rock... greetings from Peru...!

PURE CANADIAN TALENT THERE FRIENDS!
Glamour Boy and Sour Suite, my two favourite Guess Who songs.

Me too, and I live mere blocks away from Randy’s and Burtons original homes. I love the REAL Guess Who 65-75.
They're going to get into the hall it's only a question of when . Would be nice to see while members are alive ...
@@donwarrington4916 Burton Cummings certainly deserve to be in the Hall of Fame !! Love his music ❤️👍🏻🇨🇦🇨🇦😊⭐️⭐️

The KING!
That voice.
Love Burton's voice.
So sublime.

Of course - David Bowie had a fabulous sense of self deprecating humor it’s so very attractive, I loved and miss him terribly. Thanks for saying this
First time I heard this tune as a Guess Who/Cummings fan my whole 57 yrs.
I was thinking of Elton John the whole song. I wasn't far off.
@@NickNicometiI never liked Bowtie. Terrible singer.
I originally heard it was about Alice Cooper.

CKLW Radio from Windsor to Detroit, We had the best of both worlds.
I grew up in Sarnia, Ontario, which is located about an hour's drive northeast of Detroit. We used to listen to CKLW all the time.
They've written songs about Gordon Lightfoot, 🐺 man Jack and then this one about Bowie.
And not to forget...American Woman
Which one is about Gordon Lightfoot?
@@stevelauda5435 They did a song "Lightfoot" that's on their "Wheatfield Soul" album.
This couldn't be more Canadian.
Is it the plaid shirt that gave it away?

❤ wow
The uncanny thing is that singer so clean cut but not in a 60's way. He looks like he's from the 80s.
He legit looks like he could be out there on the street today and fit right in.
He often would completely change his appearance.
¡¡Vaya voz!!!
3:42 Some tape flutter.
Amazing song!

SNORE
Is this the original tranz anthem, 50 years ahead of its time???
I agree 💯%. All we lack is a song for the 30 other genders now.

Name 5 rock voices better than Burton Cummings…..I’ll wait.
Music is not a competition.
1-David Bowie
2-Steve Perry
3-Michael McDonald
4-Axel Rose
5-Meatloaf

@@kenneth2875 the only name even close on that list is Steve Perry.
@@thedevilinthecircuit1414 not competition, just comparison for the sake of discussion.
$37,000 sounds cheap...
That was dollars in 72,you could purchase a brand new fullsize pickup for less than two thousand dollars back then
In Canadian dollars today, it would work out to (no pun intended!) $269,000. So, not a small sum of money.
Wtf did I just listen to??
My favorite song of all the songs Burton Cummings wrote, that’s what.
The Guess Who! Welcome friend :)
Awesomeness… you listened to awesomeness!
$25,000 you can look like a woman tonight. The most anti-woke line you could come up with lol.
