    Dude, this Mini Press you got there for the Exhaust Studs is THE solution. I am scared as hell if I see the condition of my screws. If there is any chance you can sell this thing or build another one, please let me know, seriously! The risk of damage the average mech shops will do to catalytic converters and exhaust manifold while hammering onto those studs is too high. Greetings from Germany.

      A ball joint separator should work as well. Try getting something like this:

      For me it didnt worked, everything bent except the bolt :D, I ended op with drilling the holes, with HSS-G Co and WD40.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't see you set any preload on the centre support bearing before tightening the bolts.

    With my Z at almost 120k, would you recommend to get a new driveshaft because the U joint Can get damaged and would start to vibrate ?

    Hey, great videos I think I might have to subscribe 😅. When you drove your Z4 before replacing the bearings what did you feel and hear?
    I think I might have to replace these bearings as when I’m in first gear and start to move off, I sometimes get a few lurches forward and when I’m driving around 45mph /70 km/h there’s a slight whining sound coming from the rear end. Just curious how the car handled before the bearing replacement.
    Keep the videos coming!

    Perfect, drone when driving and sometimes strong vibrations. (past a certain speed) stops briefly when not under load until engine braking comes in. Related to wheel speed and not engine speed. so prop shaft to wheels. Heard about centre bearings going and this video is perfect. I salute you.

    Hey I’m currently doing this right now but for some reason my drive shaft doesn’t spin , making it hard for me to reach some of the bolts .. do all 4 tires have to be up to get it to rotate ?

    Is this a standard or automatic transmission? I have a standard trans 2014 435i x n55 F32 is this similar install?

    • @BimmerZen
      @BimmerZen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Standard manual transmission, but procedure should be very similar as this is a standard setup on all RWD BMW's. You should be able to find additional information for your model online, for example www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f32-435i-cou/repair-manuals/ (free registration required).

    Great video...question is: When I'm on the interstate and give it gas, I feel a huge vibration and when I take my foot off...it quits. Sitting still while moving from reverse to drive, I feel some abnormal clunking. Does this sound like a worn flex disc?

    • @BimmerZen
      @BimmerZen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you feel vibration on acceleration, then i would check the engine and transmission mounts first. Engine mounts are hydraulic so check for leaks and cracks. Also check for cracks on the rubber flex disc. The cracks should be pretty severe and apparent for this to be an issue. Then check for play in the central support bearing and drive shaft.
      Worn or damaged CV shafts can also be the culprit. Check for excesive play. Axial play is normal, but there should be little play in direction of rotation.
      The clunk on forward/reverse is "normal" for older cars. There is some play in all of the components and the clunk is the sound where all components align for reverse/forward driving. I also think that parking brake shoes have some play and can cause a bit of a clunk when going forward/reverse.
