I was thinking the same thing. Like my takeaway from it was, when it comes to home buying is to either have a second source of income or for the first few years have a roommate. Or really save up and get a duplex and rent the other space.

There are only 3 men out of 20 adult men in my family that actually own a house. I own my second home. Paid off mortgage for previous home and sold it to downsize to a smaller home. P.S. I got a fixed locked in low interest rate. I wouldn't agree to anything else.
I’m a young, single, independent woman trying see about buying my first home sometime within the next 5-10yrs. Do they tell you about fixed rates? Because i noticed she mentioned that what happened to her was based on her house being a new build. Which is what i was looking at, but realized there is alot more to it like she mentioned after doing some research and asking around about new builds. So i’ve decided to stick to smaller homes, possibly one level, that was building atleast in late 70’s to early 2000’s because they seem cheaper and have years on them that the owner/owners have worked out the kinks for already.
@@anonnnymousthegreat I may have misheard her but what appears to have happened to her is the initial property tax she was paying on her home was assessed and calculated when the lot was vacant. It sounds like the updated tax assessment now factors in the value of her home which made the property tax increase. It was bound to happen since she was underpaying on her property tax anyway. The empty lot vs the lot with a new home appreciated the value. The builder definitely should have made sure she knew that ahead of time. Before you buy you can always look up what the property tax on the home you're interested in has been for the past several years. If they've made renovations, improvements etc, that can change the tax when the home has an updated assessment.

Happily single BW can't just talk about current events, because for them it all reverts to not having a man. I just moved into a new place, the service manager was kind of offer his help on his free time. When I came about asking he said if I had a men I would not have to wait for him. I was so confused as to why this man was angry at this woman's post about her mortgage. All I heard was someone sharing their experience about homeownership that she did not know before and letting others know about it too so that they are not blindsided. This dude came on here yelling about how she thinks she is an independent woman and that she is screaming that she needs no man. I didn't get that at all. This dude made it seem like she would've been better off with a man when more likely then not she would still be trying to come up with that extra $1000 regardless of a man being in the house.

The homeowners need to make sure they filed legal residence for the new build with the County Assessors office. The taxes are higher on investment properties than permanent residences. I have a FIXED flat 3.5%. I love my home AND my land. 😊☺️🤩
To the first lady, I’m not even trying to be funny, but that is her fault. My house was a new build too. It was explained to me by my mortgage company cornerstone that the mortgage may change if they don’t account for property taxes WITH a house.
I did my due diligence and ask the mortgage company to calculate my mortgage payment with a home. They used the tax calculation for a home my size and later my mortgage went down because they overvalued the taxes and I have the disabled veteran exemption. We can’t depend on these people to do it for us we have to do our homework.

@@Aniexo_ my mortgage company only explained it because I ASKED. When they do pre-close and calculated everything my monthly payments were 1300 and some change. I asked them why was it so low. THEN AND ONLY THEN is when they explained to me about how they are calculating the escrow for taxes based on the land WITHOUT a house. I immediately told the lender to check the county tax assessment site and calculate me based on land with a home. So like I said you gotta do your own homework. Had I not inquired about the low monthly payment and asked what ALL went into it I would have been in the same boat as that lady.

It’s the home owner responsibility to know what goes into their escrow account. The first thing I did when home shopping was look at the tax amount for that area. The price of your home and the price of the taxes should always be the first thing you ask about. If you are of a certain age, you can get a senior citizen discount for taxes there’s the homestead exemption and you can also get a veterans exemption. You were smart, to inquire.

She was also wrong for not doing her research. Plan B should not be somebody else's income 1:50 and plan A shoulda been fixed rate and/or reading the small print. Knowledge is power ladies.

@@tees9135 That is most certainly a fixed rate issue. Please be careful that you don’t spread misinformation! If your rate is NOT fixed then you need to know what causes it to vary. You can’t sign a mortgage without doing your homework. The annual tax assessment would have been included in the mortgage agreement. This is only legally enforceable because it was in the original contract, which the OP agreed to. Nobody wants to read the small print but this is the price of ignorance. If you can’t understand a contract, you need to pay an expert to advise you, in writing. Either that, or you end up here because you have no idea what you actually signed up for…
@@gee_emmYou are wrong and clearly don’t own real-estate. A “fixed-rate” only pertains to the rate on the loan/money borrowed. It does not account for property tax and homeowners insurance which increases with the value of your property and when taxes are increased by the local municipality. This is NOT a fixed-rate issue. Do your research before you spread misinformation.
