    Much agreed !
    My local "Lumberjack Harley Davidson"dealer in East Texas here, same policy, they AUTOMATICALLY wholesale out
    most all or all Metric trade-ins.
    I got my 2008 V-Strom 650 in perfect low miles condition from a used motorcycle dealer after an HD dealer wholesaled it to them lol !
    This V-Strom is the finest most versatile & trouble free bike & I've had a dozen over the years from Dirt to Street to Enduro.
    I'm 60 & it could very well be the last bike I ever need lol

    I think that car was a Nash Metropolitan. Not a boat car sadly, just a '50s attempt at an economy subcompact.
    KLR kinda feels like a weird bike to have in your neck of the woods, really makes more sense somewhere with mountains and twistier roads imo.

    • @caseysmith544
      @caseysmith544 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep, was a Nash Metropolitan Convertible. Seafoam Green or Baby Blue both with white secondary were main first 2 colors of vehicle. Came as 3 types, Convertible, fixed roof, and a way less made hard top removable. Somebody where I live in Pierre South Dakota area had one for years before they moved to a super conservative part of Texas in 2010's when they retired, a part so conservative now if any LGBT+ come to town to live they end up missing within a week even if person is as conservative as everyone else in area on all but Same Sex marriage.

    Man, these videos kill me, what great deals! LOL None of my local H-D dealers carry any used anything other than more H-D, even then, there's very few of those and always priced like new. I honestly think they send all non Harley trade-in's straight to auction, and keep their few overpriced used bikes as a sales tool to get people to opt for the new bike instead. On the other side of the coin, I've found the best place to buy a used Harley is at a Honda dealer!

    Bert - great overview Brother.
    V-Strom 650 rider here, LOVE IT !
    I'd probably dig a KLR650 parked right next to her too.
    Those two are oriented in opposite like 60 / 40 % Road to Dirt & then 40 / 60 %, so whichever surfaces are your default, choose accordingly.
    Funny way you put things - uh Roger that at 11:05 mark.

    The GREAT news is God has forgiven ALL who admit this & call upon Him JESUS CHRIST the LORD, Savior & KING !

    Hey Josh I bought my KLR,(same model you road), last year and absolutely love it. Upgraded to 16 tooth front sprocket and she rolls long at 75 all day easy npw if I should choose. Bought her for the 99 percent of my riding back roads and rural routes were no matter what I was on previoiusly never saw speeds over 60. No worry about ever being stranded due to the reliability and 6 gallon tank. Also for me it is absolutely the most comfortable best riding bike I've ever owned. A National Cycles windscreen and Happy Trails centerstand are the only othe mods I;ve done, njust waiting till I have the money saved to replace the ridiculously large heavy exhaust can. Great vis as always good sir!

Also, have read that proper maintenance and vigilance in adjustment you may never have to replace it. At any rate it seems a pretty straightforward replacement. I plan on keeping my eye on it and if Still have this bike by 35,000 and I am out of adjustment I will replace.

    I sold my V-Strom 650 due to health reasons and you’re right about the engine, it is very quick. I went on a trip with 2 Goldwing riders who were "worried" that I wouldn’t be able to keep up, they were in my mirrors a majority of the time on the highway and when on twisty back roads I kept having to pull over and wait for them. It was entertaining to watch them panic when we took some gravel backroads! The only thing negative I would say is it is very top heavy.

    KLR650 MENTIONED! (froths at mouth) They are great bikes. They do all the bike things except go fast. Rode from MD to the campout on my Gen1 twice. THAT SAID, it's definitely a "Avoid Highways" bike. I would reluctantly agree that of the 3, the V-Strom is probably the best value for money. Highway miles are much easier. It will handle off pavement duties to get you to the camp site and a little more. But, if you are at all inclined to hop curbs, explore hobo trails and ride around the locked gate, the KLR is the better bike.

      Owning 650 adventra and having ridden a versys, I would say they're roughly comparable, the shifter is better of the cfmoto but the fueling is is less consistent(there is abrupt change at around 3k that's annoying in stop and go traffic)

    • @shadrach5681
      @shadrach5681 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The DR650 is a significantly better bike than the KLR. It's a blank canvas to do with what you want and has a MUCH larger aftermarket parts market.

    • @jaykoerner
      @jaykoerner 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@shadrach5681 I actually vote XR650L instead of either, but that's me. All three of those bikes are dirt focused, and if I'm going to have a dirt focued bike it should be the best at dirt with the street being second, and the xr650 is better than the dr650 at dirt, if you wanted a bike better for long miles and Street riding(maybe highway but definitely not interstate) I would vote klr650, the dr650 is right between the 2

    • @shadrach5681
      @shadrach5681 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jaykoerner I agree, the XR is more dirt focused. Lack of cush drive would not be comfortable on the street. I like the oil cooler on the DR, in a pinch it can be bypassed. The XR is air cooled, oil cooler kits exist but it should be stock. The KLR being liquid cooled is a flaw for me. I like the apocalypse reliability. The XR also doesn't have as much aftermarket available as the DR.
      However, if one really wants the BEST of all in this class, hands down the XR650R! Absolute animal but I'm not sure about riding across the country on it. Lol

    As an European weirdo I'll throw my two cents: There are 2 or 3 brands that use that same platform 550-800cc parallel twin. Some are Chinese like CF some are owned by the Chinese like Benelli, Rieju and Macbor. These brands got a much needed revival or makeover and they are some of the best selling adventure bikes at the moment, specially in Italy, Spain, Portugal or France where you have all year long riding weather. Case in point the Benelli TRK702 X, even in Portugal where any vehicle is taxed to hell and back, you can ride out of the door with one plus a full set of aluminum saddle bags plus top case for less than 8000 euros. This is a 70hp PROPER brand new adventure bike that just by the price point alone makes any BMW look silly. Comes with all the bells and whistles you'd expect like spoked wheels that take tubeless tires, abs, fully adjustable suspension and so on. Since they are quite cheap (and the lower spec ones are even cheaper like the 502) most independent reviewers just buy them so there is not really a bias when they test them and trust me, some Italian guys took a trk 502 to fakkin' NEPAL.
    The first time I saw a Macbor I legit thought it was a new model of BMW. Also, since we are talking about riding everything all of these brands also offer smaller displacement urban models that can be ridden with a car license.
    Now, I hear you ask: whattabout the quality?! Reliability?! Ill be honest, some of the more basic models are built down to a price and you kinda get what you pay for but, engine, suspension and electronics wise, they aren't any better or worse that any other Asian brand maybe apart from Honda, because... Honda.
    The rant is getting quite long, I'll shut up now.

    Every bike I had prior to my current bike (2017 HD Fatboy S) didn't have ABS, so I was used to gear breaking and being extra careful with the breaking systems. No S"kidding" lol.
    My Fatboy was my first bike with ABS and I must say, it was a game changer in how it affected my overall riding skill. It would seem that it wouldn't do that but it did.
    With a bit more confidence in the breaking area, I tend to get in and out of traffic much better now.
    My personal preference.

The KLR is a great cult choice - except for the lack of TUBELESS tires for touring!

    A few weeks ago I tested the CFMOTO 800NK and it's amazing. Yes the motor is KTM, the Jjuan brakes are basically Brembos and the design Italian. The quality is wayyyy better than I thought, so next week is mine. New for 8240 euros 😁 Hi from Greece. PS The Advance model.

    All prices at Bert's are "plus, plus." One of the plusses is a dealer fee of $600. The other plus is tax, title, and registration.

      You have to pay TT&L no matter where you buy a bike. That’s not a markup. It’s the price of buying any bike you’re going to put on the street. Even if you buy it from your neighbor.

      I bought a used Harley from my local Harely dealer. When I bought it, it was in the back, on a lift, getting a full service. That is what your 600 dollar dealer prep fee pays for. All the maintenance being done, the recall on the ABS being done, the bike washed and test rode. The dealership has to pay for the coolant, the oil, the mechanic's labor. Personally, I'd rather pay the 600 bucks, and know my bike has been thoroughly looked over, anything broken fixed, and that I need not worry about any fluids for at least the next 4000 miles.

    I gotta stop watch’in right now and take a moment to laud your rapid fire use of euphemisms and southern colloquialisms that pepper your reviews along with your car salesman”ass for every seat” style of hard sell. Hilarious, but when peeled away there are facts that count and by the time your done with a bike review, in my mind I practically own it. Brother you can talk the chicken off the bone!! The reviews target a broad swathe of rider audience and truly get into rider nuance and quality Vs. Cost. Really enjoy the channel. Hope you review the RE interceptor 650 someday soon. Hopefully see you at Americade in the Adirondack mountains this year? That is a bike shindig that that has people showing up on everything from Zundapps to classic HOGS. What ya say?thanks brother, awesome channel

    I bought a cfmoto 650 adventra for 4100 new out the door was 4500, with a 2 year warranty, 3900 seems high
    Also it has 60hp not 30
    They cant do a 1200cc for tariff reasons, there is a 25% tarrif on motorcycles not built in the us over 750cc, it would add 2+ grand to the price to keep the profit margins

    That's some good advice, I'd never think of going to an HD to get non-HD bikes. CF MOTO is killing it lately, from what I've seen on TH-cam. I'm in California where CF MOTO is not allowed due to smog laws. I don't know man, I disagree about what Americans want since there is a huge segment of small displacement bikes like the Grom, etc. Oh, also as adventure bikes in the sand, give me a 250 over a 1000 ANY DAY of the week because the 1000 will sink in the sand as the 250 flies by.

    I've noticed something about stat sheet warriors, aka, those that always want to talk horsepower, and what do dads this or that bike has. They never talk about rides. Me, my bike is just something to take me on trips. Sure, its fast, I've done low 12s on it in the quarter, but I've also riden it from Oklahoma to Albuquerque, from Oklahoma to Winston Saleem and it has been a wealth of adventures. I have no idea how many torques it has though.

    My problem with ADV bikes is you either get fully off road like the T7 and PanAm or you get fully on road touring bikes with no offroad capability. There really is nothing in between. They also don't sell anything without a bunch of electronics I don't want which jacks the price 3-4 grand more than it should be.

    • @niceguyrides
      @niceguyrides 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The T7 and PanAm is in between… lol neither is hard core off-road.

    • @ADobbin1
      @ADobbin1 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@niceguyrides They are more off road oriented than most of the adv riders will ever need. No they aren't dirt bikes which are hard core off road. The problem is the more road oriented bikes only come in cast rims and the adv's like t7 only come in knobby tires. I can't get a road bike with some off road stuff and road tires. I expect you could order the tires and rims you want with the bike you want but it'll cost you extra instead of being an option. The vstrom does the best to fit what I'm after but their design and colour scheme department is seriously over paid.

    • @niceguyrides
      @niceguyrides 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ADobbin1 I think your definition of an "adventure" bike is basically a touring bike. There has to be something that differentiates the category. That would be off-road worthiness. The PanAm and GS1300s of the world are middle of the road adventure bike. Too big to be anything more that middle of the road. The 890 adventure and Tuareg 660 are heavily skewed to dirt riding. The T7 can get there but the suspension is limiting. I guess the newer models with the upgraded suspension can fill the bill, but the stock t7 is best left on fire roads and pavement. The Taureg is a great road and off-road bike, so I am not sure what you are talking about. Ducati also has a capable tourer that can handle off-road, but can slay in the twisties. Plenty of bikes are build for mild off-roading. The new V-strom XT is also smack in the middle ground and the Transalp. The missing part of the segment is bikes that are light enough to do single-track and can still do serious road miles. We have none of those. We have some single-cylinder thumpers that will vibrate you to death, but no capable twins from reputable companies.

    • @ADobbin1
      @ADobbin1 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@niceguyrides I guess the problem is the way they are being marketed. I've only really seen the T7, PanAm and other ADV's marketed as a rally bike with pros doing serious off roading in mountains and deserts and stuff. I want something that is upright and rugged enough to handle the increasingly rough pavement conditions as we slowly go bankrupt without being shaken apart. I don't need knobby tires, traction control and rider modes.

    • @niceguyrides
      @niceguyrides 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ADobbin1 Marketing aside, they have plenty of options in that category. The V-strom being the most synonymous (any V-strom). The XT Adventures has some very road biased tires anyway, and serious off-road will require a tire swap. You will be fine when you hit the gravel roads or fire roads (in good weather). I mean it is literally marketed for what you are talking about. From their website:
      "Renowned for versatility, reliability, and value, Suzuki's V-Strom 650 models have attracted many riders who use their motorcycles for touring, commuting, or a fun ride when the spirit moves them. These are touchstone motorcycles balanced with a natural riding position, comfortable seat, and a flexible engine character that produces stress-free riding during brief daily use or a high-mile adventure."
      I think many times the marketing is misrepresenting the product. If you ride a T7 over the dunes like a rally bike, you'll be bucked off in a second... You need $1500 worth of suspension upgrades for that.
