I haven't done a custom order with them but I have two of their Amazon guitars (PRS style neck through and a single cut semi-hollow) and both were fantastic out of the box. i did order a custom lefty guitar from them. amazing. i requested a battery cavity in case i wanna change the pickups. but the pickus sounded amazing. thanks for sheding some light on them. for me it took like 40 days to get to my house from the day i paid
With a few guitars in my lifetime and 2 I play with right now, you can make a guitar neck exactly how you want it to be as far as thickness if the neck is not a painted one or you will have to do more work repainting, or custom removing the paint to a bare neck as far down and up the back of the neck as possible (The way I like mine truly) . Take a piece of sandpaper of about 100 grit. Not to hard and start playing with that sand paper in the cup of your hand for a while. Your hand will start find the spot you need your neck sanded down at. Just make sure to play the entire neck. Play until that neck feels comfortable, and then do the entire neck leveling it down and then really fine sand it smooth. I also sand with small files all the way upto the body sloping the neck to meet the body removing any block heel of the neck the most I can. This really lets you get your hands far up on the neck when playing. Most pro guitars are not going to have 5" of long square block heel on them. But hey man, that's a nice looking guitar for so little money.
Love how you built a guitar inspired by Snake from Escape From New York. That's such a great movie! I was looking at necks recently for a possible future build. The neck makes the guitar IMO, but I still found my custom searches relatively expensive to what I was considering. So these guys may be a serious option for me. Heck, if they do custom guitars, I might even let them make the whole thing. Like you said, the trick is getting down to all the details in the specs, so I'd better get started!
You should get them to build that exact guitar complete but perhaps with humbucker in bridge and leave the rail pickup in the neck, The Bald Shredder IYV Signature!!

You mention in the video that these necks play about 90% as well as the music craft my question is what would you have to do bring it up the rest of the way what's the actual difference?
Actually it's more about the options. Musikraft and Warmoth offer a lot more options as far as different woods, pre-intalled nuts, finishes, fret sizes, etc. Although this does have extra jumbo frets, they're not quite as big as the 6100 size I can get from those other places. This has no hate in it, but is indeed a actual question, if 3 necks cost 91.00 but a cheap beginner ax is say around 100 to 250, and you get an entire ax to part out and work with why buy the custom necks? I mean besides the convenience, if you have the knowledge and tools why not just make a average beginning ax into a great gig ax for less than the big name makers? I mean unless the name is a must have, again no hate but I put the same amount of work into setting up and modding a Gibson or fender as I do for a cheap guitar. So I was curious to get some answers or opinions on this question, great video and thanks for the information, I do appreciate anything that can at times help me out, as everything I need to make a neck is not in my garage, but I have everything to mod a neck in my garage.
These are 100% custom necks which means I can specify every aspect like wood, fret size, profile and thin vs thick, nut width, not to mention any headstock shape I want. You buy a cheap guitar and you get the neck that comes on it. That's not a custom neck made to your specs. That's the reason.

Alright, alright, alright. I'll subscribe. Twist my arm, why doncha!
the market has much less american rock maple, it’s mostly canadian now. the 90s were full of rock maple affordability. the maple on maple boards aren’t as good these days
Hello, They are not answering Emails, I wanted to order guitar butt.....
Sometimes the emails don't get through for whatever reason. Send me an email and I will forward your info to Mr. Do. Then he'll email you.
@@thebaldshredder I have mailed to you , Thanks for trying to help
Oh... my slow brain... did you say "custom compound radius neck" '???????????? for under 200 $ ... no 91 $ .... Holly F***
I won't be able to sleep.... And then the Donlis pickups - What other DONLIS store parts have you tried and considered good quality - I ask cuz on their store they have a lot of stuff and it makes we wanna build MORE custom guitars... Any positive exprerience with Donlis Single Coils by any chance ? Do they Gilmour/DireStraits , glassy quack sound ??? Anybody ? BTW, the Donlis pickups I just received were these :: "Donlis DHN53 High outout 16K Alnico guitar humbucker pickup with nickel silver baseplate"
Only tried their pickups. The bridge pup in this guitar is also Donlis.
@@thebaldshredder --- The DH11 RAIL pickup - which one ? - - DH11 Silver-Nickel Base Plate (2 $ more expensive) or the standard (more brass color Base Plate) ?? I am curious whcih one you chose... I LOOVE the sound you got out of this 🙂
Don't remember the model number. It's been well over a year. I can tell you that it was an Alnico V. I'm sure I was looking for a high output pickup.
I love that these aren’t trying to be direct fakes rather they are IYV branded. That has always been a turn off is I was looking for the shapes but not wanting to buy a guitar that’s trying to be a fake. Very reminiscent of Hondos but to another level!
Headstocks need to contrast from the body color . What I didn’t like about Carvin’s is the always painted the headstock same color as the body and looks to cookie cutter and cheap looking.
Purchase link to the guitar? Thanks.
This guitar is not for sale.
@@thebaldshredder well, there's that.
WD will charge you close to $200 for a well made but unfinished 22 fret, and NO tuners!
Snake Pliskin, I heard you were dead!
😆
Black headstocks always look better except on fenders Matching color headstocks look awful to me A true super strat should have a black headstock Jackson ruined the soloist when they started matching their headstock colors with the bodies
But will he do as good of job on necks for us guys without a well know TH-cam channel like you have?
Only one way to find out.
