can I ask how long it took to finish and how often you play? I've never crafted a legendary but after 3 years of playing on and off, I'm thinking about diving in! I just want to know what realistic expectations are for the timeframe on it lol

I play daily - roughly two hours! it took me about 3 weeks because i had to complete my maguuma masteries to progress! on top of collecting tier 6 materials of which I was lucky to have enough of! I spent quite a bit of gold (I had 700g to start with and was left with 400g) to collect any extra materials from the TP (without using real money though!) but it was worth it. You won't regret it! its a gorgeous greatsword

It's gorgeous. Maybe i'll craft it someday, but right now i'm saving enough gold to convert to gems for the 2000gems skyscale skin that will inevitably come.
Whenever we can actually unlock the Skyscale that is.... Five collections... a day timegat between each... and apparently the third set of collections has a three day timegate within it as well. Sigh... I just want my dragon damnit.
@@envytee9659 I actually quite enjoy the collections. And while the timegates are a pain, just think of the 4-5 months wait we'll have to endure until the next living world season begins. 5 days is nothing! Gw2 players are immune to boredom!

Plus, it's not a 5 days anymore because as I said, the third set is a three day timegate which means 8 days, assuming that no future collections for the skyscale have more gates. It's highly likely they do have more timegates though.
If Dragonhunter was a Monster Hunter-inspired elite spec, then Exordium just gives everyone the shiniest Monster Hunter switchaxe imaginable. I especially love the ranger animations, particularly the block and pommel bash. Now, let engineers have one. :) Oh, wait. I have a photon forge that makes greatswords out of sunlight.... still not as shiny as Exordium, though.

I really have to change my mindset about legendary weapons..., I always like to think of them as weapons that can be crafted in about a month or 2 months of your first playthrough, I was very naive you can say. These weapons are a symbol of dedication, months or years of experience, learning, adapting, garnering resources, they are a symbol of hard work, that is why they look absolutely breathtaking, its a gift from GW2 to the player for all his troubles throughout the adventure. It truly is beautiful to look at.
I think the Necro’s Morningstar flail is my favorite simply because that seems to come right out of nowhere - like, why? And yet the transform is still so cool.
Not a fan of flashy rainbow swords, but morphing animations are a nice idea and look very cool. Guild Wars 2 always used weapons not just as sharp or blunt sticks, but as mediators for your characters power and this sword is a perfect representation of that.

Thank you for this showcase! It's now more compelling to me to craft this weapon 'somewhere in the near future'. I specially like the Mesmer and Necromancers animations, they look stunning! (and luckily are my favorite classes to play)

Love the sword and the video. One thing tho: the animation for asura mesmer is kinda bugged (or it is intentional i dont know) because the rings should spin like in the trailer. So it should be better to use it on other races

Elder Wood and Mithril ore are going to skyrocket in the trading Post. Because you need like a billion elder wood and half a billion Mithril to get you the precursor. Then you need another half a billion elder wood and another few million Mithril ore to actually build the legendary. Lol

M D while I would love to play GS with a Herald Rev, it’ll never happen. Rev would gain GS on an elite spec and Herald is already an elite spec, and as you cannot equip two elite specs at the same time it means a Rev will not be able to equip GS while playing as a Herald.

Im really sad, that many of the Legendary Weapons (esp. Pharus) can in no way ever compete with this one... Why does ANet always privilege greatswords over the other weapons? Thats a real pain :(
Unfortunately, I believe part of the reason is demand. The greatsword can be used by more than half the classes out there if we include the elite specializations. A quick comparison can be made if we look at longbow: Three, including one elite specialization, classes use the Long bow ( Warrior, Ranger, and Guardian with DH). In contrast, five classes, including the elite specialization of Reaper, use the greatsword (mesmer, guardian, warrior, ranger, reaper). Appeasing five classes with a legendary (pun intended) design fits better than trying to appease three. Don't get me wrong, as a guardian main, I was thoroughly disappointed with Pharus; I was looking forward to a great legendary longbow besides the gen 1, Kudzu. Although Pharus matches the guardian aesthetic and theme the most, it doesn't differ itself enough from other white bows like the chaos one. Plus, I have to throw some sympathy points in there for warriors who were not looking for a white legendary longbow. Another speculative reason is this was the first patch where Arenanet was not working on other projects. More hands on deck could mean more creativity went into it's creation. Throw in the fact that this was a season finale, and we have a decent reason as to why this legendary is so creative. The second is way more of a theory than the first.
I did unlock the Skins for Twilight and Sunrise, sold the Eternity for some profit though, so I might just make this one as an actual legendary greatsword... Quite tempting. Loving the transformations on all, but most on Reaper, that scythe is amazing...
Really nice showcase. I was not impressed with this weapon at all when I saw the pic while deciding which GS I should craft. Knowing that it changes depending on the skills and classes makes me appreciate it more. Even with that I still prefer the beautiful streak effects of light and starry night sky from Sunrise/Twilight a bit more.
This bad boy turned my phat from claw of cha-urn, as I was all ready got the last one of the weapons order to get it. And Holly hel I am going to enjoy of this weapon if I can get it this side of the year.
I likely will try eventually. I'm only sitting at about 500g currently and have first taken up the daunting task of crafting the Shining Blade, so we'll see how long that takes me ... probably a long, long time off. Hopefully the servers are still running until then.
Same. I've been working on Shooshadoo for what feels like forever and I'm still only about halfway between the 2nd and 3rd forms. I've got a lot of other things on my plate to worry about farming the mithril and elder wood for the shard crafting and I'd rather not spend gold on materials unless necessary so I just buy the shards with laurels. Though trying not to dip below 100 laurels on my account so I only buy some when I have a +10 surplus.
@@NathanDurben ha. That'd be an idea. I'm almost completely out of laurels because I switch mains every so often and I needed some ascended trinkets. I'm slowly gaining gold mostly by doing material conversions and the occasional flipping when I find something worthwhile (I'm not really too much of a farmer I guess, should probably try some Istan runs). Doesn't help that my guild that has existed since 2 years before launch is mostly inactive these days (can't stand running fractals in PUGs...)... Ah well. I'll get there eventually. Maybe.

At one point I had 300 laurels but around the time PoF released I just converted 200 into those Tier VI bags to help with another legendary I was working on at the time. I've also been a guild of 1 since around the game's first anniversary so I know how it is to not have anyone around.
@@NathanDurben that's a fair point. Theoretically I could've just stayed on exotics since I almost never get to running fractals anyway. But I guess I like the slight stat buff too much. It begins adding up. Still don't have any ascended armor tho... Ah well.
Well i still dont know what to think about it. I just think its flashy but some of the animations are clipping in the ground which makes it kinda inept in my eyes
Really like the scythe form and the axe aswell. problem: if i would craft it, i cannot use the other beautiful great sword skins anymore :D like the alchemist, desert king, belinda and sab skins :S

Man, GW2 TH-camrs are much more sophisticated and sound like they're from the game they're playing compared to WoW ones; ain't complaining cause I love me some Asmon and Preach.
You can craft all the vanilla legendary weapons - so for greatsword they are wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sunrise = wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Twilight and wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Eternity. If you want to craft the second generation legendary weapons you must own either The Heart of Thorns or Path of Fire Expansions. to be clear - Only one of these expansions is needed. I would recommend Path of Fire because that unlocks access to the game unparalleled mount system; The best mount game play I have ever experience in 15 years of gaming be it in mmorpgs /solo rpgs / any game.
The skin for my chars is a little ..meeh.. also not much GS builds right now for me...but the effects are great. Still a bit mad, the last legendarys dont have that special effects. And im not counting the drawing animations. Hope next season Gen 3 is coming and those legendaries will also have those kind of animations.

Oh and I hope you saved up your charged quartz because it seems you need atleast 12 of them and you can only make 1 per day.

Happily we are getting more and more options. More choices, more chance of finding something that suits your style.

Really like the scythe form and the axe aswell. problem: if i would craft it, i cannot use the other beautiful great sword skins anymore :D like the alchemist, desert king, belinda and sab skins :S

Actually can you craft the legendary stuff with a free account or there’s some restrictions?
You can craft all the vanilla legendary weapons - so for greatsword they are wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sunrise = wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Twilight and wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Eternity. If you want to craft the second generation legendary weapons you must own either The Heart of Thorns or Path of Fire Expansions. to be clear - Only one of these expansions is needed. I would recommend Path of Fire because that unlocks access to the game unparalleled mount system; The best mount game play I have ever experience in 15 years of gaming be it in mmorpgs /solo rpgs / any game.

Not working with necro skillset colors. Nice try, but just nope. I can imagine it being a blast for other three, especially guards and mesmers.

The skin for my chars is a little ..meeh.. also not much GS builds right now for me...but the effects are great. Still a bit mad, the last legendarys dont have that special effects. And im not counting the drawing animations. Hope next season Gen 3 is coming and those legendaries will also have those kind of animations.
