Really nice. Good inspiration for someone with lots of barn space.
Thanks! It’s not perfect but it’s a good start for sure 😊
@@NorthwestCraftsman It's great! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. I'm getting ready to retire overseas and am purchasing a property with lots of outbuildings, and I was JUST thinking about how to integrate a chicken coop into one of them. This is PERFECT for me. Looking forward to seeing more of your chick, and other livestock projects.
Thanks! What a cool opportunity for you!
Glad to have you around the channel and look forward to sharing more!
I don't know anything about raising chickens so my question is: How do you plan to keep them safe from flying predators? You have made a very nice space for them and I look forward to future videos of their progress.
Thanks! And that’s a great question. We have raptor tape up right now that should help to deter them but we’ll be waiting to see how much of an issue it really is and what predators we have the most issue with. So no guarantees for a loss free flock at this point 😂 but hopefully soon
Nice video!
Thanks!
Wow! It looks really great! How do you keep the predators from getting the chickens? They really like to eat the chickens! Excellent work
Great question! As it sits now, we have the raptor tape up to try and prevent them from diving in but we’ll need to see what kind of predation we have issues with.
Having a goose helps get the goose as a new born so it grows up with the chickens, cats for mice etc.
Wood chips are a good coverage and can be used in other areas to fertilize,Hopefully they get to free rein aswell
Great video!!! But I have one question how do you protect them from predators?
Thanks! I’m glad you liked it! From ground predators, the fence, and from air predators, the raptor tape (reflective tape). We didn’t have a chance to prove out either of those methods because we moved not long after I built this. However, for the air predators the idea behind the raptor tape is to spook them before they can get into the run. The tape messes with their depth perception.
