- I have had this for about 3 or 4 years and always thought I would eventually make a video. Today was the day and it was a lot of fun getting the perfect donut. It took me a few tries to get it right, but once I found the perfect dough consistency, it was off to "Time To Make The Donuts" I would say it was a little thicker then pancake dough. It was easy to run once everything was in full swing and I did have enough dough to make a bunch more donuts. The thing is since this is technically a gravity fed system, once I got the perfect donuts, I did not want to add to much dough to the hopper because that would add more weight and produce larger donuts. I did add oil a few times to the oil bin to keep it at the maximum level required.
This video is intended for parents to help them make an informed decision about purchasing the item shown in the video.

Think u needed extra oil too .. u could see the oil getting lower and lower after each use

6-7 years ago I was pregnant with my only child and I’d wake up, make myself a sandwich and binge watch all of your videos, everyday. I’ve found you again, such a good memory, and no change here, still could watch your videos all day. 💕

I have the same sifter 😁 it was my great grandmother's and passed down to every first daughter. I've used it since I was 5 and now I'm 27 and its still going strong !

This showed up on my list of recommended channels. While watching it, I thought back to a book I read about 65 years ago as a little kid. It was about a boy named Homer Price. He was working one night in his uncle's cafe, and fired up the newfangled automatic donut maker, which this contraption reminded me of. It went nuts and turned out about a thousand donuts before he could figure out how to shut it off! What fun watching this to get my mind off the horrors of today. Thank you!

Good tip .... one Tablespoon of Vinegar to one cup of milk, then stir and let sit for a couple of minutes, is a great substitute for buttermilk. I often do that when I make pancakes , so I won't waste buttermilk that would otherwise not be used. The vinegar does thicken the milk just a bit, so stir before using.

I haven’t watched this channel since I was little. This video randomly popped up in my recommended and I decided to watch it. One thing I noticed it that the channel doesn’t get as much views as it use to. Kids these days are too busy watching gaming channels and other channels that aren’t as wholesome. I’m glad Lucky Penny Shop is still making videos.

When you added the vinegar to the milk, you essentially made buttermilk, that is why it is lumpy.

I think you might have over mixed you batter. When a a recipe says "Just to combine" it mean just until the ingredients are incorporated, large bits of flour are fine. If you over-mix your batter it will develop gluten. Gluten with make it more springy/ dense, which isn't what you want in this case.
A pancake has little to no gluten development and pizza dough has higher gluten development.

gluten is already in the dough and it is what makes dough what makes the difference is the amount of flour used... more flour more stable less flour more runny... for a device like this the dough needs to be on point...

Once it started reliably making doughnuts, the video had a very nice ASMR quality to it.
I love your videos. You have a lot patience especially for this toy lol, and you have such a nice voice.
My kitchen is pretty crowded, especially the island table, so my work space is pretty much the equivalent to a small counter.. I can't even put all the ingredients on the table (and I save up a small space for the measuring cups, spatula, hand mixer, etc.) and bowl size is usually bigger. Trust me, I know how it feels. 😉

It might be better to use a piping bag and pipe the dough in to the machine to get the nice size and shape.
Ultimately, I do think a manual method for putting in the dough would be better. This way the dough consistency would not hinder the machine.
This is the coolest thing that I have ever seen. Reminds of going to the swap meet with my Dad on Saturdays morning and there was a donut stand setup just like this. Best Donuts Ever! Thanks Dave!

I had one of these with the exact design. Very quickly, the paddles at the end started to get stuck, then would release with such force that they splashed hot oil outside the machine. I did not use it after that.
That would be a problem. I was very attentive in the video, but I can see people walking away and ending up with a mess.
This is something you use one time and it ends up with the cotton candy machine in the back of the pantry.
