Also happy he took the Gold. He really should have done the deed in Rio, but c'est la vie. I was lucky enough to get to train with him in 2015 shortly before he won his World title. Nagase really is a true traiditional judoka and I do have a really great memory of what the Tsukuba University dojo ceiling looks like, even to this day. Lovely guy too!
hey that's great to know! What did his gripping feel like? Would love to hear more. I've only had the opportunity to train with Takato, and some guys from Nittaidai and Kokushikan, but never really experienced a top of the food chain guy from my own weight class.
@@JudoHighlights2015 Sorry I only saw this now as I revisit this video post Nagase's successful title defence! From what I remember, his gripping almost seemed non-threatening, until you realised you were on your back! I am not at his level (obviously) so I don't think he was having to work too hard. However, I would say that what really stuck out was how stable he felt. It never felt like you were breaking his balance at all. Contrasting that with Ono, whose gripping is more akin to being a child held by an adult, it was a bit more relaxed and fluid.
I am so happy about this video and about Nagase getting some of the love he deserves. He is truly amazing. Too little analysis is to be found about him and his style - there is so much to learn from him.
Nagase videos, Jimmy Pedro's gripping sequence and videos from Yokohama judo on youtube is all I do in my randori. Very technical game plans. Thanks for posting.
He's my favorite of this generation for sure, but Kosei Inoue is my all time favorite. Both of them being fairly traditional and ouchi gari/uchi mata specialists wih very clean and powerful judo
He is my favorite judoka too and I did choose him to win gold... and he fought his ass off for it.. what? Nearly and hour of accumulative bouts to get the gold? Uff what a warrior
@@JudoHighlights2015 Yes I agree with you! When you see him you don't think he is strong. First time I saw him was in Chelyabinsk (was coaching) and that was the first thing I thought when I saw him. But than he went toe to toe with Trikishvili in his prime and I said right there and than Nagase will be world champion one day....
Thank you for uploading this nice video! ♡

This man really understands and implements the meaning of Judo. Real MASTER!
Im here because he just won his 2nd Olympic Gold medal in paris today👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
He’s amazing 🤩

Dude, I couldn’t agree more
Top class, love it how easy does it look.. thnx for this one! 👍👍
Aamzing. He makes it look simple. Ha, he is not so much a warrior, he is a true judoka.

I fell in love with Judo and Nagase watching the Tokyo Olympic. Is it just me that he looks lighter than his opponents?
Great Video;THANKS !!!!!!!!!
Yes! I thought I was the only fan of nagase. Also my no. 1
Beautiful! ...poetry in motion.
Yeah he's great.

Thank you very much for your comments.
Greeting from Japan with love.💕
Just got to train with him and Ono this past weekend!! His judo is insane

He is the modern day Keiji Suzuki

I just trained with a guy who went to university with him. Said his left hand was ridiculous

So good judoka.
you have as kosotogari in English, and ouchigari in Japanese.
