    There are diferent viable strategys to win a Blood Rage match, and they all depend on your draft.
    It's true that investing in rage eficency is a good idea, but you should not overlook some cards from the first age that may combo with other cards later on.
    The Montain Giant counts as a Leader, wich means he invades for free. Yes, it's verry expensive at 3 rage on the first age, but he's an investment in the long run. When you combine him with the leader upgrade from the 3 age, it's VERRY strong. And you can mitgate the giant cost at the first age getting some free cards, like the mystics or dwarf to compensate it.
    And there's the Loki strategy of dying that's VERRY eficient. You can use the Loki's Trickery from the first age to steal some rage points from your oponents on the first and second ages, wich means you don't need to invest so much on increasing your rage. That means while everybody is fighting over the rages on the first and second age, you are gaining glory and hurting them by losing, and geting the axes that praticaly no one wants. Them, on the thirg age, you can focus on winning battles and a LOT of glory because you leveled your axes hehe
    The serpent is really a bad investment most of the times. But ocasionally, you combo her with the drakkar's upgrade that gives you glory when they die and that cards that allows you to bring back your miniatures from valhalha. When it happens, you get A LOT of glory points that way.
    I could go on, but I belive I made my point clear. Your strategy should adapt accourding to the way the draft plays out and the state of the board after the previous ages. If you play with the same strategy every time, it becomes verry easy to screw you, specially if you are playing with the same friends all the time.

    • @wigglwiggl1992
      @wigglwiggl1992 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I played this game 2 times and I have the feeling i figured out more strategy's than he did.
      If there is "the best" strategy, everyone tries to draft it and therefore it becomes less viable than other strategy's.

    Great video.
    At 16:16, I think you are either misstating your point or are incorrect. Masters in Arms is itself a warrior upgrade with rage cost 2, which gives your warriors 2 strength on its own, and the asterisk text gives pairs of them 6 strength. Invading with warriors after you upgrade Masters in Arms will definitely cost you 2 rage, not 1 rage "because you've avoided upgrading them". Whatever warrior upgrade a player may have had before Masters in Arms is irrelevant to how it works, since the previous warrior upgrade is overridden completely by the new one.

    • @Susanoo0097

      @@BigBoii1369 No, they cost 2. Because figures cost their strengh to invade. If their strengh is 2, then they cost 2.

      Gigantisaur No they definitely cost 2after that. I noticed my Warriors were suddenly more expensive whenever I tried to place them. Being new at the game, but some experience in other games I thought, maybe there’s a progressive cost, the more warriors out there the more expensive. Of course I haven’t read the manual yet, just played the digital version which is amazing. But anyway now I learned that yes, that upgrade I thought was awesome, it really has a downside which is now all my Warriors cost double

      We played our first game of Blood Rage tonight...and I won! But through a very odd strategy that developed during the game.
      I looked to use my Rage strategically, I followed your advice and grabbed the Dwarf Chieftain and Frigga's Succor however my pillaging attempts ran into other player's large combat bonus cards. My troops were wiped out and my quests failed due to this annihilation. Last place, end of First Age.
      Second Age, more unsuccessful pillaging attempts, but I had picked up Loki's Eminence, so all the bloodshed catapulted my token around the board. Add in some sneaky quest fulfullment (placing warriors/dwarves in already pillaged locations after the army had been moved elsewhere) led to a jump into second place.
      Going into the Third Age I was way behind on Clan Stats and my army on the board was close to non-existent, but having seen how the slaughter of my own men had propelled my score, I decided to go full George R R Martin and kill everyone!
      God's Gifts - I grabbed Loki's Wrath, which combined with Loki's Eminence, gave me 5 glory for each figure released from Valhalla, and Eternal Dragons which gave 12 glory for my ship's destruction.
      No one had twigged onto my strategy, so I was able to get both Glorious Death Quests which gave me 22 total pts as long as i had at least 4 figures in Valhalla. I planned on having far more than 4 in there at the end of the round!
      Suffice to say, my warriors were slaughtered all over the board. Anywhere there was going to be pillage, I stuck my warriors in there. And with Frigga's Succor, instead of one figure, it was two. 10 pts a pop! Even with their better Clan stats, no one could catch my slaughter-bus. And with a total of 121pts, I won by a clear 30.
      This wasn't the plan I had at the start, it wasn't until halfway through the game that I even thought about it. I'd say there are many ways to win this game, and even if things look grim at the start, you can still come back to win.
      It was a very strange game, and everyone was kind of shocked by the amount of points I racked up at the end of the Third Age, me included. But most importantly, we all can't wait to play it again.
      Rage On!

    I've got this and the expansions, it really is the cats' pyjamas, I regret not kickstarting it as I think I would have got stuff not available in the shops (ever !). Also regarding your Kickstarter it's a good idea to send a prototype to the guys at Dice Tower and Radho on youtube months before or just in time for the kickstarter (or a bit before, timing is crucial) to get some interest. Kickstarter is a great place to get stuff $120 for tonnes of stuff on MAssive Darkness (like Zombicide but a dungeon crawler), Doomhaven still offers kickstarter targets/milestones even after the kickstarter is over which was nice for me.

    Played several times so far and the winner has ALWAYS been the guy to max his 3 tracks out. 60 bonus points at the end. Basically, invade and on your next turn, pillage. Especially is no one is around. As far as cards go, collect those with the highest attack values to guarantee a win. I've tried the dying strategy, questing, etc. nothing compares to 60 points at the end.

    • @dylanmcla
      @dylanmcla 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      But questing can lead to the 60 points at the end as well. There are many strategies that can lead to getting those bonus 60 points. Also many ways to maybe get 40 but get many more points than others. There are so many ways to win that's just what youve noticed so far.

    Our group is having a hard time with Odin's throne, because usualy the player with that card also has got his stats almost maxed out resulting in something about 120 points at the end of the game(quests+double quest form throne+points from stats). How to counter it?

    • @BeckyRoseDungeonGirl
      @BeckyRoseDungeonGirl  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jakub Jarmuła identify when a player is trying to hold an area and smash their forces. Quests can be countered.
      The Odin card is incredibly powerful: but it is only as powerful as the completed quests of the third age.

    • @dylanmcla
      @dylanmcla 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly either notice what quests they are attempting/try to run them out of time before questing. Either they will telegraph that they are going for that strategy and playing odins throne first or they will hold it in their hand. But for Odin's throne to really be useful you should have atleast 2 quests. so 2 quests and odins throne you already have an idea of what three cards they might have, which means they have less resources in hand to deal with what you're throwing at them. Another thing is if you see that for the past 2 ages someone has been doing a quest regularly, it can be (sometimes) good to take that quest away from them. It can shake up how they play and that can derail them.

      @@BigBoii1369 The problem is that it makes your warrior cost 2 to put into the board. So ideally you do that upgrade when deploying the last warrior you intend to, so that you paid 1 for the previous ones and now they have 2 strenght.

    Bruh, the sea serpent is the most OP card in the game. It’s great for quests and if you combo it with the ship upgrades and the card where you can return Dead units from Valhalla (I forgot the name) it is ridiculously good for stacking glory points

    • @futureiznow6748
      @futureiznow6748 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Serpent is bad. Like you said IF you pair it with the card that lets you gain glory for ships destroyed it works well but that’s assuming you actually get that card which is never a given. When you don’t have that card it’s just a serpent with 3 strength that can’t move anywhere.

    • @BeckyRoseDungeonGirl
      @BeckyRoseDungeonGirl  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Worse, it’s literally half your available rage in the first age too. I agree, it’s one of the worst cards in the game.

      @@BeckyRoseDungeonGirl It costs less to play in later ages, it has very strong benefits with ragnarok and lokis plays, and as the user said, combined with some other cards you have a super efficient glory-stacking mechanism. It is definitely a viable card

    • @BeckyRoseDungeonGirl
      @BeckyRoseDungeonGirl  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not within the remit of the strategy I present here, which will allow you a consistently strong performance and the ability to adapt to almost any situation.
      All cards can be good - in the right circumstances - but not all cards are good in every strategy, and not every strategy plays well in the face of different opponent plays. The strategy I present here will give you a solid strong performance in Blood Rage.
      You are free to play how you please of course, but the beauty of this early game rage efficiency approach is it plays well as a counter to almost any situation. If you happen to then find yourself with excess rage in the 2nd or 3rd age you can switch strategy - I often do.
      But I switch after I’ve played efficiently to begin with, which is how I’m able to always put in a strong game - because this approach lets you adapt.
      The sea monster is an early card. It’s expensive and probably the most Inflexible way to play the game. I don’t think I ever lost to a player who picked it.
