ACC fan here...expressing gratitude to two great Americans, Ronald Reagan and The Coach...Mr. Bobby Knight. Congratulations to Steve Alford and the Indiana National Championship Hoosier Team. Coach Knight is highly respected in our proud ACC heritage region. The Big Ten has had and still has some excellent coaches...but Coach Bobby Knight is the cream of the crop. He is certainly a very generous man. The media has been unfairly cruel. Best wishes to Coach Bobby Knight.
True. He really showed Landon Turner some love when he was paralyzed in the accident after the 81 championship. And I had the chance to meet Landon a few years ago. IU has been my team since age 4.
What an amazing video.. what great words by Knight and what great sentiments by Reagan regarding IU and hoosier hysteria. Indiana was America's team in the 80s. I was only in grade school but we loved Reagan emensely, as we did our country. My son was a pallbearer for Nancy Reagan and that brings me great pride. Thanks whoever uploaded this video
Best President? He campaigned on making the government smaller and reducing spending, yet when he left office, he left us with the largest deficit in history. I give him credit for bringing down the Soviet Union, but I doubt any real historian, liberal or conservative, would rate him the best President ever.
I started school at IU in 1983 and he wore the plaid jacket and tie every game, back then. I think he started wearing the red sweater in the '84-'85 season and if I'm not mistaken it was the Purdue 'chair throwing' game is when it started.
"If I don't see you in the future, I'll see you in the pasture"--Indiana Saying, as quoted by RR. Love it! Also love the footage of Nancy looking down from the residence at the window.
Did coach knight bring up the iran contra coverup while he was talking to ray-gun? This could have so easily been Dale Brown, Jerry Tarkanian, or Jim Boeheim here. Indy was good but lucky too.
It could not have easily been Dale Brown. When IU was down 9 with 4:30 to go against LSU, Bobby said it looked like they were in trouble. He said he saw Dale Brown coaching the other team and he knew IU had a chance.
Turismo Smoke Well what an amusingly STUPID comment, idiot. We’re talking about the CURRENT state of basketball in the state, not past winning percentages.
@@tallentstravels5727 The current state of IU is in pretty good shape actually. IU is back getting among the best in-state talent to commit! Bob Knight mended fences with IU. Kristian Lander sure couldn't wait to reclassify to 2020 even though a season hasn't been guaranteed. Exactly! Look past the percentages! RE: I take back my insult, and apologize even if you don't. I think for myself. but I do have a clue and plenty of research to stand on with my clues.. Past and current. I'm far from an idiot As far as anyone you could possibly misplace that insult upon! You showed up with disrespect, and I came to this page to enjoy something! As far as I'm concerned nothing on this page including a National Champion year Presidential visit are even relevant to anything to do with Butler. Anyone can sit and try to compartmentalize history into neat little time periods to fit their narrative, but takes a bit more to look past W/L records and percentages, period. Looking at the latest trends even does more justice to accuracy on the state of the IU program. I still truly don't think you're a Neanderthal . Just thought you came off as being a bit misinformed about the here and now and it is very off the pulse to say the current state of IU is inferior to Butler. IU's current state ISN'T superior to all of the Big "Ten" right now but neither is Butler, and the B1G is top to bottom brutal. I will say although it is beside the point; Historically the B1G including Tom Izzo, his FInal Fours, Big Ten Tourney titles, and his 20 year drought after 1 national title have done NOTHING to dim IU's true legacy ."Low" for Indiana is still looking up - if looking from where most places have ever sat. Teams that matter STILL play Indiana like they are the "good old" IU teams..Indiana still gets most teams' and players' best shot or career night every time out on the floor to this day. I just research and realize IU has risen , fallen further, and risen again more resiliently than most programs will ever demonstrate. Butler is one of those programs like it or not, and that isn't an insult. It is an insult to pretend only some things still count yet others do not ala-carte style. Top Indiana HS players' belief in the IU program say a lot more than either of us about right now though!

Very nice of an ACC fan to say! Likewise from the midwest!

Pretty sure Louisville won just as many titles in the 80s as Indiana did, and made more final 4s too, soooooo............
This entire event reflects a magnificent moment in American history! 😀👍
The best ever President meets the best ever coach.
I agree 100% Mr. Buck! :)
I couldn’t have said it better myself. Completely agreed!
What? You must mean Obama and Coach K.

@@rawn4203 Coach K was a Knight protégé.
What's amazing is how Coach Knight spoke with no notes as most people do in situations like these
Keith Smart made this happen, what a great time in America 🇺🇸
What a great speech from Coach recognizing the President like that. Well said.

So glad Coach Knight made the return visit to The Hall! This video used to make a bit blue with the rift still going on.
Bob Knight wearing a tie - that was something you didn't see too often

Great speeches and classy respectfulness between Knight and Reagan

I love how tall those guys are compared to Reagan who is 6 feet and Bush who is 6 foot 2. His comment about a “hillside” was a good one.
Reagan was actually 6-1 to be exact (while some sources also had him billed at 6-2), but yeah.
My favorite college hoops team ever!
The right way to play and the right way to live. Two great men and two great leaders. Hard not to get emotional.
Knight should have been Trumps press secretary
I would have watched every press conference!
Awesomeness.
Very good memories here! In so many ways.
I don’t if it means anything but did you know Bobby knight won the second national title the day Reagan was shot?
remember well , they were thinking of cancelling the game
I remember the headline in the local paper the next day. IU Wins Championship! Down in the lower left: President Shot!
Awesome
Boy The President really cleaned up all kinds of IU goodies!!!
The sweater is definitely a "Keeper" 😊🇺🇸
Coach was very kind I'm glad there weren't any chairs around lol. Could have been a case of national security.
As long as there weren't any crappy fouls called against Bob's team, everyone was safe.
Was that Nancy in the window?
yes!
George HW Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Bobby Knight R.I.P

Crazy because The Cuse definitely out played IU. That’s the way it goes sometimes!!
Out-coached
Zone v. man-to-man
Sounds like Trump
what a long way down Indiana has gone, wow. wow, cheesy comments by Reagan ,,, omg, how bad.
Harpoon_Bakery Indeed, there is really NO Indiana basketball, now. There’s only Butler basketball.
Reagan came from a bygone era and his speech was certainly a reflection of the early 20th century. Reminded me of how John Wooden phrased things.
