And when is the stablizer thread removed?

It isn't that is what stabilizes the block. If you remove it then the stabilization is not there anymore

I am not Georgia herself. I am Tamie Montgomery. I made all the videos for Georgia and when she retired from teaching in 2020 she handed the classes off to me, Sue Fuller and Cynthia Stevenson. It is now just Sue and I running them.

stabilizer threads are very helpful when block tatting to keep things lined up. Hope that helps. Happy Tatting

Which patterns call for block tatting.

There are some of the older patterns from Priscilla's Tatting books that have block tatting in them. Also some of the designers are doing a bit more with block tatting. You just have to search for some patterns. Dagmar Pezzuto uses block tatting in many of her patterns. I hope that helps. Happy Tatting

I was confused by this one, but i just started tatting a week ago, only made a few things. Are you using the stabilizer threads to make the edges of the block stronger? And can you just use one thread instead of a doubled thread, making it narrower?

+Iti Hi and thank you for watching. Yes the stabilizer threads make the block tatting hold it's shape better. The reason for the 2 threads is with one you take the chance of it slipping out when washed. You can use just one but 2 is more durable. I hope that answers your questions. Happy Tatting
