What I don't understand, as a former car mechanic, is that you loosen the hub nut if you want to remove the brake drums, which is not necessary with this car, perhaps you are used to doing that with other cars. You make me happy by immediately replacing both brake cylinders. As for the paint, I have also noticed on other Scimitars that there are a lot of bubbles under the paint, in some places on my Reliant Kitten Esate too, I have not noticed it yet on my Scimitar, but I won't see them until April, is now in winter storage. Greetings from the Netherlands.

I wanted to fully inspect the inside anyway so thats why i did it this way. Also, its been 20+ years since I have done drums on anything but a trailer. Yep, got to replace in pairs. It would have needed to be done in the future anyway. Thanks for comments and hello from England. Sam

That paint stripping is one of them jobs that is very good when it is done!! Paint is some thick too. And merry Xmas to you mate and dry steam rallies in the new year!🤞

I find it very therapeutic...if I wasn't into cars I'd be a decorator!!! Sure is, got to be a few kg of weight in paint alone! Hope for a very dry year and more traction action.....miss the smell and sounds.

Okay. I very much need you to tell me exactly how you got those wheel cylinder circlips back on. I tried and just couldn't do it!
Did you get your ones from QRG?

A lot of swearing!!! Took bloody ages...if i recall i broke one of the new ones and used an original. I found if you bend them ever so slightly out of shape they won't go on. A third hand would be very useful as you have to push the brake line in hard, hold it there, losely align the clip and then with your 3rd hand (keeping everything tight) gently tap it on without bending or snapping it. Well, that's how i did it anyway :)

@@DipstickUK GOOD. I’m glad it’s not just me!
I’d really like to get some new ones that are proper black spring metal y’know?

@@Tyresome yeah i know the ones. Mine were the zinc plated cheap nasty sort. Although, the brakes MAY now work I can't test them out as its still refusing to even fire and i've just not had the time to look at it yet.
