Jeebus, you guys have great content on the shoe reviews. I wasn't quite prepared to be hit with that depth. It really hit on very specific aspects of anatomy, ROM, particular lifts. Most people giving reviews miss some of the finer points of what others might experience and why it might be different than your experience.
Good to see the toe box is actually wider and the shoe is decent, most of my everyday shoes are wide toe box and switching to narrow toe box for sports hurts.
They'll never get all the things subjectively right it seems like. They got so many things right and then it has a soft sole. So close to being 9/10 no real issues, just almost subjective details. I'm still super happy that I decided to get Legacy 2 after watching your reviews of different shoes. The only imperfection would probably be my good dorsiflexion and sometimes leaning too far forward. My feet are so happy with the decently wide toe box in Legacy 2 as well, it's been part of the process of fixing and healing my instability and result of small shoes and broken toe.
So its been about 9 months since this video has come out, and I bought a pair of tyr's. They are great! I love them buttt..... the stiches that hold the velcro on the straps has completely disintegrated and I'm very sad about the build quality issues.
I use the rom 4 and barefoot shoes. What I've noticed after using barefoot shoes (+toespacers) is that I've gotten a lot more flexible because of how much stability and freedom you get from a wide toebox. And my mobility went back down when I started using the rom 4s again. A wide toebox definitely helps with flexibility and I'm a guy that tore his calve twice while swimming due to lack of mobility 😂
In my opinion, the best weightlifting shoe currently on the market is Anta 2. They are freaking awesome. I do not own them yet but a friend of mine has them and I tried them for a week. Absolutely loved them. Too bad they aren't available everywhere
I am a size 9, and they only make 8.5 and 9.5...I bought and use the 8.5's but I might have to sell them because they make my feet numb. I am letting them break in before I make a decision though.
Given the low volume of these they must have sold, I am just seeing an awful lot of these barely used up for sale on the 2nd hand market. IDK if people were expecting them to be cavernous or what.
I also got the Anta 2, and I think they feel massive and stable. But yet I still keep watching L-1 reviews, because I have very wide feet and compared to my everyday barefoot shoes, the Anta are very tight in the front. I just wished they would have gone for a slightly wider toebox, everything else about the Anta 2 is just perfect 🥲
@@tripleextension88 I had Romaleos 4 and they were tight as hell, Anta 1 was a bit wider than Anta V2 but V2 are still very comfortable, I also wear vivo barefoot shoes at work (physiotherapist) and I think it is ok to wear slightly tighter shoe for lifting 🤌🏻 (but not Romaleos 4, they are trash)
@@WL.physio are the Anta 1s rlly wider than the 2s at the same size? I've asked so many people and like 50% say narrower and 50% say actually those people are wrong it's slightly wider 😵💫
@@samj8932 anta 1 getting a bit wider after ca 1/2 year of wearing. I have Anta 2 since December and they are fitting same like last year so I guess the upper material is more durable and fit form longer than V1
I know you guys hate on the Adipower 3's, but I got it for $104 so its not too bad. Its my first pair or squat shows and they feel fine for now. I'll have to wait and see if the L-2 is an improvement over the L-1.
I got a brand new pair of the adi 2 from a charity store for $20. I don't think they're good oly shoes but given how sneaker-like they are they are awesome for days I am going other things in the gym and just want a stable platform. For squats I actually think they're ok. Where I don't love them is lack of support over the toes and the heel counter feels a bit too flimsy.
The best weightlifting shoe and boot is made by laboratory of Champions. The first to make a shoe with a wide toe box. They make custom made to measure shoe. Any colour leather, suede and vegan leather. Any heel height and material wood, leather and rubber. Great prices for custom shoe not of the shelf.
@@samj8932 If you used them once or just for a quick try, yeah. First time I ever used them I literally got flung forward. Once you adjust your positions in those things they are quite nice. They almost force you into good positions in the snatch, clean, and squats or you are getting flung forward violently.
Lol my Rom 2 still have another 5 years left in them, after I used them moderately for 5 years at an intermediate level. So guess you'll report back in 2030 😂
This is one of the WORST shoes for the amount of hype (a la velassa); not due to construction quality but bad design. Forefoot is soft in all the worst ways. And had to have perfect foot pressure to feel correct power transfer in the pull. The mid/forefoot can twist when receiving, it was specially noticeable in the front foot during heavy split jerks. This is coming from someone that has owned almost every weightlifting shoe made after 2004 adistars.
@@durrantmiller8810 my favorite are romaleo 2s using comp insoles and adding heel grip pads to offset heel slip. Otherwise all red adipower 1 (feels different from other colorways), adistar 2004, ironwork iii, spyders, anta 1, 2008 adistars(if you have the ankle mobility and don’t mind them getting beat up fairly quickly)
@@enCasinoJack got the anta 2s by any chance? Antas are the only shoes that have ever felt comfortable for me (maybe asian genetics?) And thinking on pulling the very expensive anta 2 trigger cause they're all out of anta 1s in my size
@@samj8932 I do have anta 2s, and they’re an awesome shoe except for the heel height. They fit like a glove and are very responsive while not being soft. It’s just too much heel although they don’t feel as tall as Leistungs they make me too toe heavy in the pull. If they made them with a 22mm heel they would be the best shoe out there imo
This got to be the ugliest weightlifting shoe I have ever seen. Good to hear that they are honest with their marketing though. Some people will benefit from this design.
I bought nike R4 for a few reasons; the price point is the same as they TYR but i trust the brand Nike more than TYR laslty becuase i used Rom 2's for 7 years.

The only lifting shoes that truly help my lifting and I honestly love to pull heavy with these also.

Try taking the sole out of your R4s , let me open up my toes a little bit
It would be pretty cool if you reviewed a budget option like the do-wins weightlifting shoe.

Haven't used the 2s but I lift just about every day in the 1s and they're the best I've ever used, absolute tanks.
are they any good for people with wide feet? What about the toe box?

Is there an alternative wide toe box shoe thats equally as good? These aren't available within the UK and the import tax is extortionate.

Nice and through review. Ideally, the wide toe box, taller heel, and solid sole would make a great shoe for powerlifting. Waiting for version 2
Ordered these today, but went up 1/2 size per what I found elsewhere online. Thanks for the review
I’ve used both the Rom 2 and Leistung and seems like this might be the ideal middle ground for squats? The leiatung seems to tilt me forward too much
No pump, no cares. Reebok Legacy III >>> TYR L1. (says my inner 6 year old who couldn't convince my mom to buy me the Reebok pumps in the early 90s)
😂
😂 How did you manage to make the video look 1980’s Sovjet 😂
I just want a pair of Adistars with the wooden heel... sadly the only pair I found even close to my size was $800😭

Thanks for review as a pl I was looking at these cause I feel more powerful barefoot but have ankle mobility of a person who has metal in their ankle.
