    In the late 1970’s I was studying Mechanical Engineering. As an education we visited the Land Rover factory in western Sydney. What a revelation, here were teams of men and women dressed in white lab coats bolting together series 2 short and long wheel base Land Rover Defenders. Each was supervised by another fellow with a clipboard. Each vehicle was mounted on a trolley and it was pushed slowly from post to post. Everything was hand made, hand assembled and hand checked until it left the door for the dealer or customer. So when people talk about Land Rover’s old school vehicle building, they really are correct. This contrasted quite shockingly with the British Leyland factory in South Sydney, also visited , which was supposed to be the cutting edge of production line engineering. Well we know what sort of products that lot built. Land Rovers still exist in huge numbers, Leyland cars do not.
    So while there are some aspects that are better built by robots, hand made charm and character are still important and tangible in appreciating cars and bikes. Likewise those lovely Barber Jackets, but they are a bit expensive for me nowadays.

    The best times to visit Cornwall are now, in the winter with the LR 110, when the 'grockles' are all tucked-up at home and in the summer/autumn on a motorcycle so you can skip past the queues of traffic and park with ease.

    What a lovely video to wake up to on a Sunday morning! The church was beautiful! Another ferry to go on from Falmouth is to Fushing. A small village on the harbour. It's a passenger only ferry, but once in Flushing there are two lovely pubs. If you feel like stretching your legs you can take a coastal walk to Mylor Yacht Harbour and drool over the spectacular yachts. There is a very nice cafe there too.
    Glad to see the weather is improving, I'm in Cornwall in two weeks.

    Lovely video Freddie and Monika.
    I (Ol Man) modelled for Barbour some years ago for their Ventile fabric campaign. I had a Spitfire flying overhead, literally divebombing to be in shot! Good old days and I’m pleased that you appreciate the quality and style of the bygone era, with the Defender and choice of motorcycles etc.
    I bought a Defender double cab brand new, when Darcy was a toddler for £22,500! It would be worth much more now I’m sure! Hindsight!!

    St Just in Roseland Church is a favourite place. A friend and I were once given a lift from there to the ferry by one of the Churchwardens at the end of the day. Sadly another friend was buried there quite recently. She had only just gotten back into biking and had a younger boyfriend. Portscatho is another favourite place, we ate at the same pub last time we were there and if you carry along that coast a bit further, you will come to Caerhays Castle & Porthluney Cove. Both are beautiful and the Castle has the most amazing Spring Garden. ps I'm not too keen on the lifestyle stuff.

    Hi F&M I regularly go to St Just it’s such a spiritual place. Agreed the most beautiful place. I fortunately sail there too occasionally shame I can’t live down there. If you walk to the boatyard just round corner there’s a Walk to St Mawes (40 mins)abs beautiful. Plenty of refreshments and beautiful bathing. I also did a walk to port scathe and a neighbouring beach and swam there in the very hot period of last summer. As u say like nowhere else esp in winter.
    Ps hate land rovers but love high vantage driving. Get that in a van too with far more refinement and put bike in bake as well as a dax for Monica😁

    I'd love to see all the places you show in your videos someday. Take a vacation for 3 weeks and visit Great Britain. The road from Krakow would certainly be tiring (and equally expensive), but the views, castles, churches, landscapes would compensate for everything. 🙂

    Loved the look of the church surrounded by palm trees but what regularly surprises me about the graveyards here in the U.K. is how soon they get neglected and overgrown, on our travels we noted that the graveyards we came across in the Azores were immaculate, it actually shocked us how well maintained they were.

    • @grahamcole7400
      @grahamcole7400 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FreddieDobbs I think some of that is due to the fact churches and graveyards are so old in the UK that the graveyard spaces are often fully occupied by deceased from decades ago, so there are, in turn, often no family members to maintain the graves.
      It is also usually the families responsibility to maintain graves and the local authorities' will do little more than maintain the paths and sometimes grassed areas.
      Sadly, also probably explains why the majority of deaths are now cremated....along with diminishing religious belief 🤔

    • @simoncaddick9085
      @simoncaddick9085 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The locals become displaced by wealthier incomers, as anywhere "nice" becomes evermore exclusive, so the families of those buried there are less likely to live nearby, but... also, U.K. graveyards have recently (the last several years or so), become places of "re-wilding" and are "let go" somewhat to help address the critical loss of vital Habitat (for other locals, such as the Insect population).
      Say no to gentrification! ✊

    Just come across your channel and enjoying it. Reminding me of when i got my first landrover many years ago. I would point out that whilst the turning circle is awful you could quite easily have got out of the drive in one go, there was loads of space in front of you, its also about getting the right line. Anyway its all a learning curve to drive a vehicle you actually have drive rather than modern cars whihc do it all for you :) You'll get used to it pretty quickly and adjust your driving style to match, then you'll really start to love using the Defender. I never tire of driving mine and love the long runs i have to do for work, i especially miss the work runs to Cornwall. i was lucky enough to be a student in Cornwall in the early 1990s and fell in love with the place.
