- Let's go over some tips for making your 1 bedroom a real home for little or no money. Making our house or apartment a home...decorating with love takes a little practice and I hope you like some of the things that I have learned over my 65 years when it comes to a cozy safe apartments. I also talk about my favorite ways to make an apartment feel comforting as it reflects who we are to our guests. The footage is from Goodwill and HomeGoods.
And for those that write and tell me how afraid you are to live alone, please know, if I can do it, anybody can do it. Depending on myself has made me such a better person and a more empathetic person. I know times are very tough right now...but we all are tougher....strong and not alone.

My 1 Bedroom Apartment Tour For You is Here - • One Bedroom Apartment ...
I am still on a waiting list for my new Apartment...the estimated additional wait time for me is 6 more months making it January or February 2021 before they would have an apartment available for me and Desi. With that information, I am continuing to live where I live. We love it here. The reason we are moving is to have a screened-in porch and a laundry room inside our new place. The way I feel about it now is, if we are meant to move, it will happen. In the meantime, I am happy where I am and so grateful to be living by the woods, the deer and wonderful neighbors who love Desi almost as much as I do. Thank you so much for asking and caring.

I am so sorry for your loss honey. There are no right words and I'm not the best with them. Keep putting one foot in front of the other and everyday gets a little bit better. I don't know your husband, but I'm sure he would want you to keep living your life and doing what makes you happy. Now is the time to reinvent yourself. Explore You, in all your wonderful splendor. Time heals all wounds they say, but we don't have to forget, but grow and learn from it. My heart and soul is with you. I do know what you are feeling, as my mom and I lost my dad, her husband of just about 50 years not long ago. He was all she knew, her one and only love who she had been with since the age of 16 and a half. They just couldn't wait and I was present at the wedding in utero! So we both know what everyday is like for you. My mom said what she did was immerse herself in her favorite programs, her cooking groups, (susan for you). Having fresh air coming in from windows or sliding door, but not a lot of light to keep things calm. And cooking. Take long naps, read and be with family if you can tolerate it. I hope this helps, even if a little.

Hi Suzie! I just found this site last week and I feel the same way! It feels like I am in the same room with Susan and Desi and she is talking to me and I even find myself nodding my head in agreement when she talks! Already this channel has helped me in so many ways!

Susan, absolutely heavenly! I had a cute one-bedroom upstairs from my son's apartment, which I took great care to lovingly decorate and make cozy. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with anxiety disorder and ran into dire financial straits. I gave up my apt and now share a two-bedroom with him, his fiancee and two year-old. We are looking to move, because I'm stuck with one room, and my grandson needs his own space, as well. I wonder sometimes if I made a very stupid mistake, but, he was in a bad way at the time. Mothers give their all, and often, too much, I think. I was living alone and was doing just fine. I hope and pray things get better..I want my own little haven again! Love to you and Desi.

I hope your life changes for the better for you .My daughter and two grandsons moved in years ago and my husband passed away fourteen years ..my house is small and my things are packed away in the garage .It's hard but we love our families more .God bless you. 💗🏡🙏

I LOVE yellow. The counters in the kitchen of my old house were yellow....I loved walking into it every morning, it cheered me up no matter my mood.
Isn't it wonderful to come into your home and feel "at home" and cozy? I agree with a lot of what you said. How the entry is decorated makes a big difference and sets a mood. Lighting is a key element. We have some overhead lighting, but I shut them off and leave my lamps on, creating a softer, warmer mood. The light, blue/grey rug is such a find. I love soft colors. Art is also important to me and having handmade items is very special. I try to incorporate natural elements into my home, such as pottery, many wooden items (furniture, cutting boards, etc.), plants or flowers, some metal items (sculture of dancers), and mixing the new with the old. I like so many contrasting design styles, I can't and won't pick just one. Music creates a special atmosphere too. Take in a space with all of your senses. And books... Your bookshelf is very one thing that stood out for me. When I see a home with books, I immediately find joy. Thanks for sharing your personal space with us. I hope that you are happy in your new digs.

It's coincidental that this video showed up this week--funny how that happens. I've worked hard after a financially devasting divorce to position myself to be able to buy a small home. After some heartbreaking home losses, I've decided to stay put for now. I have made a decision to love the home I'm currently in. I am going to make it beautiful and fit my sense of aesthetic. I don't think I can find the home I want until I'm happy in the home I have.
Love your place, and I agree with your philosophy of welcoming guests. Our places are extensions of ourselves and the warm wishes to welcome others, and comfort ourselves. And your little home has it in spades!

I've been criticized for having "things" but each and every "thing" I display has a story and a person in it, and it is comforting. I've been a professional musician since I was 12 and the first thing I see when I walk in the door is the grand piano my father worked very long and hard to buy me as a 13th birthday present. How filled with joy I am that this instrument has given to so many others joy as well.
She has way more things that I would want in a small space yet it’s very organized and clean . It’s her thing and I really like her sweet personality .

And if the memory is unpleasant replacing the item with something that brings joy is so important not only in creating a more serene home atmosphere but as a reminder to ourselves of all the blessings God has so lavished upon us. Love you to,my pain my dad died,than later my brother,than it was my sister,than my mom,it hurts so bad,but when I lost my mom last oct,i lost my world,still have my husband be 45 years August this year,just lose so many from both side of our families,God keeps me going,sick myself but God helps me every way,so please it you see this,please say a prayer for our familes,i cant tell you all of it,just pray please,but when I found this channel it's a blessing,your just like a sister.

I lost my husband of 28 years and soon discovered that I could not maintain the house or the grounds by myself!! I made the decision to sell and down size. I could not found a small home to suite my taste so I decided to rent a small apartment while I continued to look gor a house.
That was more than two years ago and I am still in my small apartment!! I love it here!!
I brought in old furnishings, new furnishings and just decorated the way that makes me happy!!
I feel that I have a new friend in finding your channel!!

Susan I am so glad to have found your channel. I do not wear makeup but have been enjoying your videos especially the ones where you go thrifting and show your finds. I live in a Chicago suburb and it is so hard to find nice things at thrift shops around here. You are so lucky to be able to find so many nice things where you live! You have a way of making your place look cozy and I agree with you about how important the lighting is in our homes. I feel a real connection to you, we have a lot in common and feel like i have found a new friend.

Your apartment is decorated beautifully. You can change so much since you have a great Goodwill. You’re lucky you can paint. I’m not allowed to paint my apartment. I got rid of so many knickknacks because it was exhausting dusting it all. The more I was watching videos I found I was missing those little touches. I have books & records that are nice to have for decorating. I’ve been buying silk flowers as the seasons change. Lots of pillows to reflect the seasons. I saw the nice pillow covers the 2orchids found on Amazon. I’ve bought Christmas, Fall, Spring & Summer pillow cases. Can’t forget Halloween! I’ve also found some nice things on eBay. I watch a girl on TH-cam who finds things at all kinds of places. I’ve bid on a few antique plates that weren’t that expensive. I also found a chicken teapot which is a stackable with the sugar & creamer on top. My Mother had this when I was growing up. She used to make me tea in it. It’s a tea for one set. Found that on eBay for under $25. That made me feel so comforted. I also found an adorable pair of poodle bookends. They’re so whimsical looking. I can’t get out to shop so I look on eBay. Amazon is also great. I wish I could have rugs like yours. They’re so beautiful. Unfortunately I’d trip over them. You do have wonderful style. Thank you for helping me want to decorate again. Loved this talk. I have always loved decorating my homes. I have to still compromise more than I'd like, living with my husband. There are so many things I'd like to replace with things more to my liking. Maybe someday. But you are so right that just maybe the warm and nurturing ways we decorate our homes really do nurture others in a positive way as well!
my one bedroom apt..i decorated my bedroom with a brilliant, full scale crystal chandelier which hangs over my bed...so when i awaken..i enjoy the gift of its brilliance, bling, sparkle as the morning light bounces off it..i feel like a princess..at nite i use the dimmer switch for the romantic nuance it provides me as i read a book, poetry, music .. allowing the days departure and receiving slumber...and all the mystery and adventures of dreamland.

Hello Susan, I would like to introduce myself, my Name is Christine, I have been truly blessed I am married to my high school sweetheart for 47 years, I have a beautiful daughter, wonderful son in law and a 14 year old granddaughter .
I came across your video last week of the tour of your apartment, well I will be honest, that was just the beginning , I have become obsessed and I have been watching all your videos, It reminds me of a good book, how you don’t want to put it down, and Every free moment I found myself just glued to your beautiful channel, I have watched the last 5 years, I fell in love with YOU, Cooper, of course Desi, and your family... I have been watching your videos about Bill , you see , my sister was diagnosed 10 years ago at the age of 52 with early onset Alzheimer’s, she is now in a nursing home , and it’s heartbreaking to watch, she has four grand children she doesn’t know exist, no one can visit her with the pandemic right now. Another thing we have in common is after our cat Franny passed, within two weeks we just decided to go to the kill shelter, and we found Stella Rose there, we had no intention of even getting another kitten, but you see it was Stella’s last day there unless. She found a home... we have her 3 years now, and I believe it was our cat Franny who knew Stella needed us and we needed her.
I have bought some of the products you recommend like watermelon oil, Burts Bees cleansing oil and a few of the drug store products you speak so highly of, because I trust your opinion. I love skin care, and even though I am going to be 69 in a few days, I have always taken the time for skin care since my early 30s
I’m addicted to your channel, I awake in the morning and have my morning coffee and watch a few of your videos, in the evening The same thing, I get snuggled in bed , and watch a few more. Hello☕️I no what you mean.I go back and forth to my daughters to help her I stay there more then too days so yes Im ready to come home.I have it fix up country red with roosters it’s a one bedroom apartment I try to make it my home.my husband passed away 12 years ago so I had to make changes in my life.and didn’t want to bother my kids even if they like too help me I try to make it on my own.you me give hope and I love seeing everything you do.thank you.

I deliberately moved the 3-shelf bookcase that my Dad lovingly constructed, so it is the first thing I see :> with the bonus of having a library room, I am able to beautifully decorate it -some books, sure, but other things that inspire me. in fact, I looked at it the other day and said - hmm, maybe time for a refresh, a change-up ... but that bookcase remains :>

I have always loved your home. It's very cozy and inviting. I started using twinkle lights after I found your channel. I buy the colored ones for my small yard. Right now I am enjoying pink and lime green lights. Thank you for inspiring me.
After my parents passed away I had a buffet I inherited. I liked it but every day it was a reminder of loss and made me sad. I guess at that point I was still grieving so I sold it. I have the good memories of it now and not the daily reminder of sadness of loss. Make room for happy things and those things will show up.

All my walls are white.So then I can add Whatever I want and love.My son lives with me when he's not at university so I also have his taste in places.My pets have their little corners too.
The first thing I see from my front door is my children in their graduation photos.Offcourse Elvis has his pride of place here and there.I pick wildflowers where they are plentifull and put them in my Tyrone,Galway and Waterford crystal vases.I love glass.I have some from Denmark also.Candles and scent is very important in my home also.My foster son said that my home has the most welcoming smell of anywhere he has been.That will do me Have a great week everyone.🌸🏵️🌹🥀🌼🌸🏵️🌹🥀🌼💓🌺🌷🌸🌹🌹🌼

Susan it's Brenda again, I have been listening to you're wonderful take on several areas you touched on that really had an impact on my own life. I have to make a decision about my leaving a broken and challenging marriage but I have no money or credit that will get me anywhere not to mention I have three one year old puppies, a female medium size Yorkshire mix, and two male Shih Tuz . My biggest issue is finding a place to rent that will allow my babies and to have enough money to pay a deposit and rent and utilities. I'm fearful because I am not sure how at sixty five am I going to survive? I have all I need to set up house keeping probably two times over but with out help to move all the heavy stuff is an issue. The other issue is I gave my last bit of retirement to my husband as part of my down payment on the current house we purchased in 2017, 12,000. Now if I leave I'm not sure how to get my part of the money back from the down payment but all the money I spent having the place remolded inside and out. I realizes you're not a counselor but I trust your advice because you have been where I'm at. Please let me know what you think! Thank you for you're time Susan, you are a kindred Spirit. Brenda

I love unusual art & I have a print of a Japanese fairy tale 'The espousal the the rat's daughter.' The three rats, mother father & daughter are all dressed in kimonos looking at a mountain in the distance. You have to read the fairy tale to understand it. I love it & it hangs in my bedroom.

U'r pretty cosy apartment is right up my street! My signature colour is Ruby red and Burgundy red (wine red too dark & pillow box red too bright) & so my home is super cosy & in fact visitors first words are what a cosy home!😊 I don't get this obsession with greys etc. & lighting is super important & I've sat in other people's home with hursh over head lighting & I feel like I'm sitting in a train station!! & I think can't they see how ugly it is?? Because as I tell my daughter's, u can have the most expensive furnishings but it's all for nothing if the lighting is dire! I just take over head bulbs out & be done with it! Dear Susan and Desi, I really enjoy our Friday evenings together, y'all are so sweet and lift my spirits everytime I see your videos posted. You have such a flair for decorating, I wish you could decorate my place! I live in 1994 fifth wheel and every wall has vinyl wallpaper coated panels that are so slick I don't think they can be painted, but I do have some wall space for pictures. And I do have a strand of lights that were built into the.fascia overhead of the cabinets, they don't twinkle but I bet I can fit a strand of twinkling lights up there along with them The Bible calls us born again believers 'sheep' who hear our 'shepherds' (Jesus) voice; faith, hope, and love are the attributes of a true Christian. Enjoyed your video... I’m 71, still living over the moon happy with my husband of 50+ years so my life is different than yours. I change up my living room four times a year... for the seasons although in South Texas there’s no real change of season. I do it for me.... at this time of life there aren’t many visitors coming around. My sweetheart recently told me that one of his favorite things is that our house feels happy... he likes all my silly decorating. Thank you for sharing
