  • Here is my in and out of box review of Dragon's late Tiger with Zimmerit. I recommend this kit all the time to first time Dragon Tiger builders, or anyone that just wants to build a late Tiger.

    Great, thorough review - as usual!
    Ya' know, you mentioned having trouble getting the exhaust "pins" straight. Whenever I have something like that I know I'm gonna have to fiddle around with to get straight *while* the adhesive is setting up, I use 5 min. epoxy. The few min.s it takes to cure, you have time to look at it from all angles and get it straight. AND, as an added bonus, any that oozes out can be scraped away in it's "still-kinda-soft-but-no-longer-adjustable" phase without disturbing the glued part.

    Thanks for a great review Adam, I've just ordered it. I've been looking for a good Tiger to build after a run of Stug iii kits.

    Another great review. I been looking to do my second Dragon kit (the first one did not impress) so I think I will go with this. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.

      Shawn Streeter thank you thank you. It's an easy build as far as Dragon goes, and it's a TIger, can't beat it.

    Fantastic kit reviews Adam. On your recommendation, I just ordered 6383 and after market metal cast tracks. Really looking forward to the build.

    Great video, thank you. Love your comments too.
    Only one addition from my side: the Bovington Tiger 131 does not have mesh on the big air intakes on the back of the hull. Only over the fuel tanks. Which is of a different mesh than the PE parts in the kit unfortunately.

    Great review/presentation again! Nice to see you also review 'older' kits, which are still available 2nd hand, and in some (online) shops. Also you review my favorite brand, Dragon, so thats two thumbs up! The Dragon 6253 will be re-released soon, so the prices will drop soon (?) for this way too expensive kit.. maybe.
    I prefer the one you review, got two of them, i also had the Wittmann version from Cyberhobby, same kit as the 6383, but sold it, could get a good price for it.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter van Hout thanks man. You are right, that Wittmann Cyber Hobby kit apart from the decals was pretty much the same kit. It still had the command antenna though I believe, but that's not hard to source if you're converting 6383. Be careful of that 6253 re-release, it don't be coming with the metal parts it originally did, and it will have not Magic Tracks it will have DS. So in essence it will be 6406 not 6253. 6406 was the rebox of 6253 back in 2007. I'm pretty annoyed at Dragon for re-releasing stripped down versions of kits without changing the kit numbers. They've been doing it for a while already with other kits. Unfortunately I think what it will do is mess up the ebay market for the older kits. No one is going to know what they're getting.
      I will be reviewing most Tiger kits as that's my favorite, and anything else I get my hands on. New or old.

    • @petervanhoutmodellingchann5304
      @petervanhoutmodellingchann5304 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adam Mann The metal parts are the reason to buy the 6253, so why bother buying it then?
      about re-releasing, they can release the 6259! (Bison I)...

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter van Hout That's exactly my point. That Bison I kit I guess is getting hard to find. I got mine in a lot, didn't even know what it was.

      Adam Mann if you get tired of the Bison I, let me know :) i'm looking for the kit. By the way, your Stug group build looks interesting, i've applied to join the Google+ group. Here's a recent work of mine: imageshack.com/a/img538/4305/YklIAf.jpg

    Hi. Really glad you did this review as im planning to get a dragon model tiger I soon, though haven't found time to watch the entire video yet. In terms of quality and accuracy,would you recommend the 6383 or the newer 6700? I see that the zimmerit is much lighter for the 6700.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      carr16k I liked 6383 better. In general it's a better I feel. It is a late not a mid though. So you need to decide what sort of Tiger you're building. Mids have the dish wheels, and lates have the all steel. If you're looking for info on that I did a video called Tigers for dummies that explains it. But just between the two kits I like 6383 better.

    Hi, how would you compare Tiger I Late RFM 5015 vs Tiger I Late Dragon? :)

  • @bgrant64
    @bgrant64 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Adam, I recently have gotten back into modeling armor after almost a 30 year hiatus. Decided I am going to finally do the Panzer VI since I was always intrigued by them growing up. I found your channel and enjoy your reviews. Especially this one, great review. I recently picked up 3 of these gems from a hobby shop in the area that is closing it's doors due to illness. I started going through the box comparing it to your review and started on it. Could you possibly enlighten me about the wheels? The first step has option A1 and A2, using G6 or G5. Now I don't know if its my 50 year old eyes or what but those two parts look exactly the same on the sprue! Can you shed any light? Is there a difference or has dragon made more changes to the kit since the manufacture of yours? One thing I noticed is a lot less PE, no bending jig, no metal tow cable and track cable, and no clear parts what so ever.

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Brad Grant I believe it just has to do with a number of bolts on the wheel. It's just a "when was the version you're making produced" thing. I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell you off hand much else about that. If you haven't seen it yet and are interested in being super accurate check out David Byrden's site Tiger1.info. He's Dragon's adviser on those kits, if anyone he would know. But I think it's just an option they made to cover any type of wheel photographed. I couldn't tell you which one I even used.

    Have just got back into modelling and have purchased this kit on the basis of your very helpful reviews. My kit however is missing the clear sprue, metal cables and the photo- etch sheet is totally different. The code on the instructions is 6383 -01. Any idea's? Also what are your current views on best for early and mid?

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry to hear that. You could email dragon care, I've had mixed experiences with them. Sounds like they downgraded the kit when it was remanufactured. Currently I really like the Dragon and rye field early kits. The newest Dragon tigers are very well made. As for mid, rye field would be my choice but no molded on zim. Dragon's kit 6700 and its rebox are excellent mids with zim.

  • @Panzermeister36

    Glad I'm not the only one who spends 40 mins on a review lol! Great video Adam. It looks pretty good but with those DS tracks and some of the detail it isn't up to what Dragon can produce. The zimmerit is really nice though; very deep, but that little PE bit....why couldn't they just mold that detail onto the side of the lower plate? They did that on my Normandy Panzer IV. But that zim looks gorgeous, especially compared to the mid version. The Normandy Panzer IV was a bit weak in the depth of the zimmerit. But I sure do love the look of this... Which Dragon kits would I need to give zimmerit to that don't have it molded?

    • @AdamMann3D
      @AdamMann3D  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Panzermeister36 Thanks very much man, it's a labor of love in this case. I don't know why they did that with that little PE strip, it's obvious that it's not the same. As to the question, Dragon made a Panther D with Zimmerit but not an A. Panther D production stopped in September 43, and Zimmerit wasn't applied until December 43. The Panther A's production run coincides perfectly with when all German Vehicles had Zim. So that's bugs me. Other than that I think they've covered most vehicles with Zim.

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adam Mann Alright thanks Adam :) I'm really itching to try out a Panther from Dragon, but I think I should build a Tiger first because...y'know...Tiger?

      tiif.de mostly. ANd honestly you can just Google 101st SS in Normandy or Villers Bocage Tiger 112. It's pretty easy to find as it was a tank knowcked out in VB.
