  • We camp at Malaquite Campground on Padre Island National Seashore (PINS). We visit Bird Island Basin another place you can camp. We take a drive down the beach where you can camp for free. Also make a quick visit to the Visitors Center/ Pavilion where there is free WiFi and a repeater where you can get cell service from the major carriers.
Depending where you set up the Over-the-Air TV is at the very edge of getting a signal. We were lucky on this trip as we received all the major networks at night and in the morning. During the afternoon the tv was spotty.
No electric or water hook-ups are available in the park. An RV dump station and freshwater filling station is located next to the entrance of Malaquite Campground. It is available for all park visitors to use.

I live here in Corpus Christi great video but you didn't talk too much about driving 60 miles down the beach towards Mansfield pass four-wheel drive of course

@@deborahrahmeyer9866 Thanks for the comments! You're correct about the 60 mile trip down the beach. I don't have a 4x4 but have heard stories. You made up for my missing that part of the PINS adventure.

Nice! I am curious, how did you find Padre Island National Seashore? It is so beautiful!

We always enjoy going to Padre Island National Seashore! We was these this weekend but didn't stay overnight at the campground, too hot without AC ;-). We went to spend some beach time. A sign greeted us at the entrance to driving on the beach - 4x4 only...soft sand! We had to retreat to the Visitors Center for beach access. Not fun carrying all the kit to the beach but you do what you have to do. It's been awhile since the Travelers Campfest days, attended the 2017 event. How are you doing and what's up the the Philippines addition to your channel name? I guess I will have to check it out! Good to hear from you!

@@RobC41 Hey Rob, thanks! Glad to hear you are still going to PINS!! Yeah, that beach is pretty brutal in summer compared to winter, lol. I went a lot in the summer of 2006. This is a different chanel, the other one is still up but since Nugget died I haven't put anything up there. I may someday though. I started this channel ahead of time to get some subs and get closer to being monetized when I get there in a year or so. I will be adding some videos here soon about prepping for the move though, and I cannot wait to go! You know I am a beach lover and they have 7,641 Islands! Whitest sand and bluest clear water most everywhere! And it is CHEAP to live there, lol. How have you been?

First of all, sorry to hear about Nugget. Second, best of luck in the PI and your new TH-cam channel. You have at least one subscriber in me. I never made it to the PI, lots of military people retire and stay there. We are doing well in Texas. I'm working part time now and slowly transitioning to full time retirement. Still doing the RV travel action when time permits. Glad you hit the channel and reached out, it great to hear from you.

The sand is packed for a few miles (close to 5, or you should have 4 wheel drive) at about the one mile mark there are a few places to pull over. I would suggest going in the winter. Also, there is a place leaving towards Corpus Christi on your right before you get to the bridge that has a carwash that will also wash the undercarriage of your car from any sand or saltwater! I took a Ford Focus car there down the beach a mile when I created the "Travelers Campfest" in 2016. If you have more questions, I would be happy to answer!
