Oh carolyn you’re in my area. I love that you got to be on the beach down there alone. It’s so pretty and so rare to have the beach empty. That’s an area I love.
I lived in Texas for over 22 years and never went to Padre Island. Though I knew many who did. Now I understand what the draw was. Thank you Carolyn. Love the everyday living footage interspersed with beautiful scenery and conversations. Very enjoyable.
Sadie looks really intelligent she seems to wanna be the tourist instead of hearing about it and when she did the little handshake trip she was looking at Caroline like really I’m capable of so much more please can we do more? Just look at her facial expressions and the sound she makes.
I camp free up along the entire Texas Gulf coast all winter long. If you’re ever in Texas again you don’t have to go all the way down to Padre. Check out Brazoria County Beach, Follets Island Beach, Crystal Beach, and Quintana Beach. Miles and Miles and MILES of free beach camping. I just move every 14 days and rotate thru all the public beach from Matagorda to Bolivar Penisula (Crystal Beach area).
Hello from El Paso Texas. I am a native Texan and love Corpus and Padre. El Paso is in the beautiful desert. I say this because I know you understand the beauty and serenity of the desert.
I love my Corpus Christi!!!! Born and raised here though I have lived other places corpus is home and padre island is the best!! So glad to have found your channel ❤
My parents went to Padre Island every year for 6 months , from Michigan , He died down there in the hospital . I couldn't go see him in the ICU cuz Michigan had a blizzard 17inches of snow ..No lights to Padre Island only to Houston $900 one way ..I did get to talk with on the phone and pray for him the day before he died. But so far seeing the drive it looks beautiful . I would have loved the drive . I love oceans...
❤❤❤ As a Texan who used to work in South Texas and take care of the visitors from the Midwest. I hope your father was cared for with love and concern just as I would have cared for him as I am a retired RN who cared for cardiac patients.
Hi. You look beautiful and happy as ever. I enjoyed this episode very much. I appreciate how much effort and imagination you put into entertaining us and inspiring us.
It is pretty safe. Yes that couple was murdered but that can happen anywhere honestly. I would not hesitate to camp there alone but I do carry personal protection.
Carolyn, it would really be worth your while to drive 2 hours south to South Padre Island, Texas as the beach is absolutely the best and cleanest beach in Texas!!
We love "Pa-lash-ous" Palacios. Hubby grew up near there. We are in Corpus. Very pretty beaches but its really hot here. The island is fun the go camping. ❤
The editing part was fascinating. I am hoping to get my son, 23, with autism, to go on the road with me in a few years. He is pretty tech savvy and would love to have him perfect his skills on the road. He is also a "savant" when it comes to geography and capitals and geography of countries. I just think him having a way to express himself on you tube would be great. Any video help is awesome so I can show him what he can do. Thank you
This is what we want to do with our special needs 15 yr old son. Also looking at wwoofing with him. Good way to learn life skills and working skills and still be with him.
Like the beach and camping on the sand. Like the desert with it’s tough beauty. My soul loves the mountains most of all. Jeffrey pines with their fragrance. When you stay @ a cracker barrel you try to convince yourself the traffic noise is the ocean.
Ha ha! We get to enjoy the beach and visiting with you! Minus the sand, noise and humidity! I visit family in Charleston SC and find beach picnics with real sand sandwiches not so great! Keep on being “on the road again”
Your video of the ocean (bay) was perfect. I love salt water, and your video made me feel as though I could smell the salt air if I took a deep breath ❣️
Carolyn, I love your Channel. I've been watching since 2018. I grew up in TX. Went to Padre many times. Yes, James and Michelle Butler were killed in 2019. Also, I had two high school friends who were musicians, he played guitar and she sang. A few weeks after they sang at my wedding in July of 1974 they were camping on the north shore of Padre. He was murdered, and she was kidnapped, put in the trunk of her car for several days while the killer drove her north. I think she started sending SOS signal by shorting out the tail lights of the car. She was saved and the perpetrator arrested in Denton TX. There is no way I would camp there, ever... I took my Girl Scout troop there in the 80s. Of course some were stung by jelly fish. It that happens, make a paste of meat tenderizer with water, and put it on the wound. It neutralizes the venom. It worked for my girls. Also, the reason why there are so many police officers is to keep watch out for illegals, and drug transportation from Mexico. If you get a chance stop in at Lockhart TX and have some TX BBQ (cooked in smokers over 100 years old), Blacks BBQ and Kreuz (Pronounced "Kritz). German settlers form the late 1800s settled there and brought their sausage recipe with them. I have not found any "Texas sausage" like it anywhere out of the state of TX. Its something to try at least once. Lockhart's town square has been in many movies. My grandfather was a barber there on the town square from the early 1930s to 1970. Thanks for posting all your great travels! I really have enjoyed them.
How phenomenal that your friend thought of shorting out the brake lights to signal SOS. The sausage sounds good. If I ever go to that area of Texas, I'll check it out. Although, Texas is not top of my list since I live at the Gulf of Mexico in Florida. 😏
We were there last June and loved it. We stayed in a county park for $15 a night. It had electric and water hookups. Padres Island was one of our stops out to Yellowstone. We made a 8300 mile circle from Myrtle Beach, SC. It took 74 days. We were in a van. Loved it! Thanks for sharing your adventure at Padres Island.
❤ I so loved this video. I woke up in the middle of the night and wow I needed this. Thank you so much. Sadie is just wow. The best. She's such a great companion. Happy trails.
Padre Island is a beautiful place. I was out in the water & saw a guy on the beach looking out at the water where I was. I looked behind me and there was several dolphins swimming by me. ♥️😍
I’m from CC. Wish I could have met you. Just a warning for any viewers considering going to south padre, always check tide charts. Sometimes the tide can go up to the sand dunes and you can get trapped for a bit. Park your rig as close to the dunes without getting into the soft sand. Getting stuck out here is no fun and the tow services suck and charge hefty sometimes. The first jellyfish I believe was a cabbage head and the last was a moon jelly. If you are lucky at night you may see the moon jellies glow . It is true it is sticky and sandy and does get annoying but I’ve lived here my whole life and just used to it. Make sure you wash the salty water off of everything because rusting is a real problem. Anyhow, I know you are nowhere near here now and wish I could have chatted with you just a bit. I’m a loner also, but have a family with teenagers still. This lifestyle is my dream. Maybe one day.
Also the coyotes usually don’t go near humans but if they do steer clear, may have rabies. Watch your pets all the time the coyotes will grab them if given a chance.
Thank you, Carolyn, I have not been to the USA before and I'm so glad I found you and I get to go on your adventure with you my friend 😊thanks it's so beautiful there🥰thank for sharing stay safe
I have only recently found your channel and I love it ! You inspire me to become a nomad. I find myself daydreaming more and more about it. I just put my home up for sale and am seriously considering a new lifestyle change.
A true eye for video, love your content. When you was down in cajun country, you was only a couple of miles from our favorite boondocking place. Thanks Pop & Capt Dee
You can touch and even grab the topside of that jellyfish. The stinging tentacles dangle from the underside when in the water. Totally LOVED your drive over the Harbor Bridge and then heading to the island over the Kennedy Causeway. Been over that at least a thousand times. Glad you enjoyed it and as in just about any place you go, be aware and vigilant. While in Texas, you absolutely MUST check out Big Bend NP and see the Marfa lights in Marfa, TX. Also a phenomenal observatory in West Texas called the McDonald Observatory. There’s so much in Texas!!
Awe! You were in my neck of the woods! So glad you got to experience the beach at Padre Island. I love the beach too but can only take a day of it. Love your videos.
My sister goes to Alamo Texas every year to escape the winter and her and her husband and friends go to Padre Island all the time She says it’s beautiful there. Enjoy Carolyn.
I actually feel similar about beaches. I’m honestly not a fan. I keep thinking how nice it looks, and then yeah, I go a tad bonkers with everything containing sand literally all through my car. I live in Florida and friends will obsess over beach time, yet I just don’t get into it. Great video as always! My dog, unlike me, would love roaming around that beach where you were.
I used to go to south padre island all the time when my grandparents lived in Brownsville Texas. It was a short drive thru the speed traps to the island from there. It is one of my favorite beaches. It's really nice away from the hotel areas. You can walk for miles on the beach. Thanks for sharing, it brought back beach memories from when I was there.
Another "add to my list" places😊. Sadie is having a blast!! I love it when you looked at her and said "you're beautiful " and she'd like "yes I am" 😂. I grew up in Florida... about half my life... I've been stung many times by jellyfish... not the end of the world but not fun!!
New subscriber here from Wisconsin 😀I absolutely love your channel. I appreciate the history behind the places you visit. During Christmas 2022 I was in the hospital with heart issues. For the next month I was on a lot of restrictions and that is when I found people like you who gave me a chance to see parts of the country that I only have dreamed of. Seeing the country through your lense is incredible very calming and peaceful. I love water! There is something about water and how it soothes the soul. Thank you for sharing your adventures!
Really enjoy your videos. Your content is entertaining and beautiful. Feel I have a connection with your personality. You are so lucky to have your freedom❤
Loved this video, it's great to see the Beautiful places you find to overnight. Glad you're doing some history content again love listening to it and seeing the historical places you show.
Is Padre Island that good for birding? It is certainly desolate and beautiful and on my birding destination bucket list, along with Aransas, Bentsen Rio Grand and Santa Ana WR….is winter a good time to be there? I want to see Big Bend also but I read that the hummers don’t show up there until March…hard to coordinate everything, may have to be two trips.
Thanks, Carolyn and Sadie. I stayed at the Luther Hotel back in the 80's in Palacios. They were re-furbishing the rooms at the time. It was pretty neat, but felt a little "haunting." They had a huge kitchen and local people come for the breakfast buffet. Enjoyed the video!
Hi Carolyn, You are so smooth in the way you share your videos, it’s like we are in the RV with you. Another great trip to enjoy! I’m traveling in my in my own chair. Good blessing’s to you and Sadie
I never went to Padrea island..My hubby went deep sea fishing from. There back prob..88 or so.I didn't go because our son was a baby and ...so hot.I was so homesick when we were stationed there...plus we were young and money tight so traveled little.WE did go to San Antonio...That was not what I expected. It's a big place...it was where I saw first tarantula and scorpian!I got my souvenior..he turns 37 in Feb.That was a beautiful spot...I could listen to the waves all day.
Oh the sound of them waves makes me feel alive great! We had a fifth wheel parked in a spot expensive not on lake though in a marsh . I wish I had a spot on the water I would have kept 5th wheel. Also we had to truck to pull it so we sold it. I guess I will have to boondock lol in our new pick up we bought and find a chill spot and have pick nick and own it for the sounds of waves and beach and quiet
You are taking a Dreamy drive!... I love Texas for vacations... when some of my family lived there I did a fair amount of exploring.... But my Corpus Christi vacation fell flat when my plane got canceled 4 times and I lost patience and just took the next plane to San Francisco instead.... grrrr... Lightning storms on the Gulf kinda messed up my vacation...
Luv the videography, photography & snippets of history! Oh, almost died from a jellyfish in Australia! Not painful, but unable to breathe as my nervous system slowly shut down was scary, Sooo maybe don’t touch…cheers
South of Bay City there is a birding park to visit also. My mom and step dad volunteered there when it was just a dream, they lived south of Palacious on Jensen Point. Miss that area, thank you for taking me down memory lane. PFP to you today my lady.
I'm in Quartzsite now but planning on going to Corpus Christi April to see friends. I'll have to check out Padre Island while I'm there. Thanks for showing this.
Nice video, I like the longer format. I do love the ocean but would have been too nervous to stay on the beach. If there were a parking area up where the coyotes! were, I would have stayed there. 2-3 days is enough though, mostly because of the constant wind. I don't like the humidity in the areas by the gulf either. Beautiful photography you did and I really loved watching the Great Blue Heron walking through the water. Of course, Sadie is amazing and your hair is gorgeous. Also, the place with all of the buildings by the pier looked like a church retreat camp to me. Stay safe and well
I'm an Ocean beach lover, a part of my soul it seems... Loved this video, found it very relaxing.and googled it, coyotes on Padre Island yes, indeed! Learn something new everyday, thanks, Carolyn!
Don’t touch the jellyfish! I’ve been stung twice by smaller ones than you saw, and it’s like having a hot poker dragged over your skin. Worse than a wasp sting, and it hurts for hours (or at least that’s how I remember it…was a couple decades ago). I was cranky and miserable the rest of the day. When I got stung on my neck, it welted up and turned red where the tentacle dragged across about six inches. Looked like someone had tried to slit my throat. And yes, the dead ones sting too.
I spent months on the beach near Galveston. I loved it! Probably because I love to swim in the Gulf. Swimming several times a day makes you feel fresh even in the humidity. I did take have the beach with me when I left though. I just gave up on keeping sand out of the RV. My dog Buddy has a fluffy coat and carried it in 😂. Swept it out later. ❤
Fantastic video Carolyn... surprisingly, I saw my name come up while you were scrolling the comments before editing. What a gorgeous spot to boondock! I don't blame you for trying to catch up on videos. It's obviously A LOT of work. When do you get to completely relax and get a break? I appreciate all of your hard work and wonderful videos. Safe travels...hope you have a great time in Arizona.👍😊 By the way, are you still gluten free? Everything you cook looks outstanding.
I'm amazed at how empty the beach is. The water looks like it might be shallow for quite a way out so you couldn't swim...just a thought. Im in South West Florida so maybe the temperature is similar but the beach is busy.

Very dangerous. That couple that was murdered a few years ago.
Agreed. Not safe at all.

What month is this in the video? I mean you have on long sleeves. Lol
I was born in corpus Christi and it was good seeing the beautiful beach and loved the sound of the waves 👍😁

Great, enjoyable video! 12 degrees below zero here in Illinois today!
What a gorgeous spot!
padre island one of coolest places i been too..parking lots are free boca real nice too
I had no idea this was this much work to put together a video! Thank you so much for sharing this! Your videos are not boring! Keep up the good work!
Boy editing is a ton of work. This made me appreciate your efforts even more
Good evening Carolyn. You always seem to pick the most perfect music for your videos. Love it!!!!😊
Loved this one!! Lived in Corpus for years, so I knew exactly where you were!
Nice to see you out and about in the sun again Carolyn enjoy~ but it's - 2 in BC or - 50 in some parts, so enjoy the sun while you have it.
Stay safe and well
Love all your content❤ Padre Island is on my bucket list 😊
Welcome to Texas ..Great video Carolyn.Safe travels.
Love that slow mo beach shot
I love RV camping on Padre!
This video brought back a lot of good memories. I lived in Corpus for 10 years. Thanks 😊
I'm an Ocean beach lover, a part of my soul it seems... Loved this video, found it very relaxing.and googled it, coyotes on Padre Island yes, indeed! Learn something new everyday, thanks, Carolyn!
Great spot again wow the sounds of waves will put you to sleep. Love it
I'm jealous SPROUTS...I live in Az. near Oatman, Kingman the only NÒ Sprouts city 😩
I gotta say, I loved your "real" opinions. Good or bad, you're real...that's what i love about you! ❤
Beautiful footage … Run Sadie … Run!! 🐾❤️🌊
Lovely place! I’m always happy when I’m on the water! 😊
Yay, Texas. **Waving from Dallas area. Welcome. I was just in Galveston I love the cost down there. My mom grew up in Corpus.
