    A scene that sadly doesn’t get talked about enough, cause it’s the best scene in the movie in my opinion. The lighting, the dialogue, and the music- especially the music- sell me on that thought. Hans Zimmer was brilliant. Incorporating the Billie Eilish song into the musical score here gives this scene so much more impact and weight than it was probably going to have if those musical cues weren’t there. When the music kicks in it presents a feeling of relief, joyfulness and happiness, knowing that he has the family that he has wanted with Madeleine, but yet the music also feels haunting, sad, and tragic, with us knowing now that Bond eventually sacrifices his life for his family. Really got Padme/Anakin Across The Stars vibes from this whole scene. Also bringing in Mathilda brings this scene full circle with the story these 5 movies are trying to tell. Madeleine is the daughter of an assassin, and now so is Mathilde. I could analyze this scene all day. It has so much depth and so many layers to it.

      100% agree with all of what you said. Its exactly how I felt about this scene. Knowing everything we know about Bond and Madeline past and future this moment was joyful and bittersweet. Star crossed lovers, in their own tragic ways made for each other destined to be together and fated to doom. I knew during the car chase that she was pregnant and thought if she is there is no way the ending will be joyful and the tone was set music and all.

      I noticed many scenes were shot during golden hour.
      That must have been a challenge as sunlight drastically changes color during that period.

      Hans Zimmer replacing the originally planned composer was a stroke of extremely great luck as this music in this film is the best since On Her Majesty's Secret Service, not really that surprising seeing Hans borrows from the older movie score and end credits. He doesn't just steal the music (except the beautiful song We Have All the Time in the World) which is a wonderful touch, he entwins the melody effortlessly creating that sense of genuine romance which is indeed a rare thing for a Bond film. John Barry and Hans Zimmer proved to be a amazing combination.
      On a light note: Did anyone notice, the slinky actually worked? Never seen that happen before. I wonder how many takes that took. Maybe phenomenal special effects?

    • @Marguerite21
      @Marguerite21 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      The main reason why she really chose to say 'she's not yours' it's all because she still resents James for breaking up with her. I can't say I blame her. And it's not just the break up. It's also because she felt that James didn't bother to see that she deliberately conceived for him. Madeleine was hoping that James would be ready to start a family with her. But since an explosion happened at Vesper's grave, and James easily believed that Madeleine set him up, it's what caused him to break up with her. Though it was mistake for him to easily believe that Madeleine betrayed, but she didn't.

    • @circuito77

      Actually it was during the car chase the phone call that Blofeld made to Madeline calling her "my darling" just made James take that decision.

      @julkasteven8198 ; Far too late she admitted it,she should never not have lied about their daughter,if she really wanted to protect her daughter,she should never not have allowed James back into her and their daughter's life,that would have been the best protection for their daughter instead of this foolish lie if you reason logically.But lucky for her and their daughter that she did just that because if James had come a day later, his family would have been kidnapped by Safin and James would never have known where they had been because he would not have known the information about Madeleine's past with Safin in order to trace his hideout.But all in all, both Madeleine and James were very stupid towards each other and also towards their child.James was so stupid in Italy and Madeleine was very stupid in Norway.Mathilde deserves much better really.

    • @ericpeeters3400
      @ericpeeters3400 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Marguerite21 : They were both wrong I think.James in Italy by immediately suspecting Madeleine of betrayal and breaking up with her which makes him look very foolish.But recently all understanding for Madeleine her anger and distrust 5 years later,that still does not give her the right to lie about their daughter to the father.There were other ways to make it clear that James needed to keep distance with his daughter without that foolish and useless lie for that. And if she really could not forgive James from when the break-up in In Italy,she should not have allowed him back into her and their daughter's lives.But if she had done the latter,James would never not have found her on that island and she would have been forcibly married to Lyustifer safin who then became Mathilde's stepfather.

    I know a lot of people say Vesper was the one and I truly thought that too when at the beginning he went to her grave and said “I miss you” but later on when he returned to Madeleine and said “I do not regret a single moment of my life that led me to you” was such a powerful statement because it included losing Vesper and if he had to lose her to found Madeleine he would’ve accepted that fate with open arms. So for me Madeleine was the one for Bond.

    • @hollandfray4521
      @hollandfray4521 2 ปีที่แล้ว +66

      No I completely agree. I started thinking that after we see just how depressed he seemed in Jamaica. After he lost Vesper there were endless one night stands until he met Madeleine. Then after he looses Madeleine the movie doesn’t give any indication that he was like that again, it does make it clear though that he isn’t interested in anyone but Madeleine. I think losing her screwed him up more than losing Vesper ever did.

    • @camille3083
      @camille3083 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Vesper was the one. Bond was getting old. He couldn’t mourn a woman his whole life, eventually he has to move on. The magic of Vesper is that no one could replace her. Madeline could have very well been saverine, strawberry or Camille if they got a second movie and had Bond’s Child. Madeline seems contrived and forced to me. With that being said, I did enjoy NTTD and don’t think it is as bad as people say. Still don’t think she should be the reason he died though lol.

    I loved this scene, the way so sincere, so natural that James says things to Madeleine as if to say, you are my life and I don't want you to leave my side, forgive me my love. In addition, this scene shows how much the two truly love each other, although it was not exactly a reconciliation, this part of the film shows the human side of Mr. Bond going to look for his love, asking for forgiveness and that everything starts again. It is one of the most beautiful scenes in the entire movie, then the kiss between the two completely seals this union.

    "There are a thousands reasons why we need to find this man."
    "You just gave me a reason to kill him."
    That second line means so much and hits hard. With Bond having now reconciled with Madeleine and also riddled with guilt over missing the first 5 years of Mathilde's life, he takes it upon himself to protect the family he never imagined he would have (like the real man/patriarch he is - love that forest scene, btw) from a nasty piece of work who is clearly a huge threat to them. The first line has more to do with how dangerous Safin could potentially be to the world; the second one, however, makes it perfectly clear that retiring to start a life with his woman/daughter is simply not an option as long as that man is alive. Lastly, when Bond tells Madeleine before the final battle on the island, "I have to finish this... for us", yes, the world isn't going to save itself and he has a job to do but this time, it's also VERY personal. For the sake of those he loves, Safin HAS to go (regardless of the steep cost to Bond himself at the end). GREAT MOVIE!

      he uses gadgets. what makes his bond unique was the world building.
      casino royal was a great spy movie. but it wasnt containing the elements of bond worlds.
      then quantum of solace slowly but surely started to bring back the exotic parts of the bond world. fields' death was a straight reference to goldfinger. and how he look in that scene, in this tuxedo covered in dirt. almost like the old ''gentleman spy'' idea return from its grave
      skyfall was *the* craig movie that fully started to embrace the idea of bond movies. it gave us moneypenny, q, m, the gadgets, the villains that doesnt kill bond immediately for some reasons. and every body in that movie was keep telling how the time has change and there is no point of old school spy world only to bond telling them ''well im still here so suck it up''

    How guilty James must feel towards his daughter when he sees her lying in her bed.He was not there when she was born and missed the first 5 years of her life.And all this thanks to Blowfeld's nasty trick.He was just able to restrain himself in Blowfeld's cell as far as Madeleine was concerned but knew nothing of Mathilde at the time because otherwise he would not have been able to restrain himself at all and would have strangled Blowfeld on the spot.I am sure of that.

    THIS scene demonstrates why Daniel Wroughten Craig is the Only Bond that matters and the one we NEEDED. His depth as an actor is the primary reason this former dying franchise became relevant again. He presented A Bond of substance,one that intelligent and mature movie audiences could fully appreciate for his flaws and strengths. We were finally treated to the Bond that Ian Fleming created so vividly and well in the novels. The Hollywood interpretation Established by Connery and his successors was embarrassing parody to the point that one was left to wonder if parody was in fact the sole intent. Only the excellent Timothy Dalton whom I consider a precursor to Craig, understood Bond was more than mere parody. Craig took it to a totally other level of grittiness and complexities and as a result The Bond Franchise is enjoying a well deserved resurgence that was sorely needed particularly as we head into the 21st century. Thank you Barbara Brocolli for having the courage to implement the vision you had for A Bond we can relate to and needed. And thank you most of all for going with your instinct on choosing Daniel Craig. This was a definitive game changer!
