You're not going to believe this, but my dad came up to me a couple days ago and said he has an old Pentax that he wants me to have. He said when he was young, him and his friends would go to the Mojave Desert and by the end of the trip, his K1000 would be the only functioning camera left.
Thats such a great story! I havent dropped this camera yet but I have full confidence in what Ive heard that it can really survive a journey. Did you end up taking it from your dad? Would love to see any photos of his or your own.
Thank you! This is so helpful! My quick searches only showed me zoom lenses and Im not against them but Id love a prime! A 28mm sounds right up my ally. thanks for to comment really really appreciate it!
I actually learned how to photograph on a K1000, back in 1999, at University... With one of these I took my first photos and spent many, many hours in the dark room, with red lights, I still remember the smell, the developer, the fixer... How many memories... Good times... You took me back to the past... I still want to hold one of those in my hands again...
Really appreciate this comment. I hope you find the time and funds to possibly pick one up again. I got lucky with mine. Minimal damage and a really great price. I am so happy I get to take this around on my adventures now.
Its really fun. I honestly need to try my hardest not to get too sucked in because it can be a very costly hobby. Still the images that come back are really wonderful so Ill def be shooting more film on my personal adventures with loved ones.

Greetings. I have a 50mm f2 and a 28mm f3.5 for my K1000. Really enjoying the 28mm for street and landscape photography.
