I have this watch and love it! The more I wear it, the more I like it. Gets the. most wrist time from my collection and I own a few rollies.. IMHO, this looks better than the Pepsi and a Sub in person.
Perfectly summed up. Sadly the ONLY SS sports ROLEX that still maintains the original DNA of what Rolex sports watches used to represent - a classy no flashy tool watch that can be worn with a suit or a casual night out occasion. A high standard reliable wrist instrument that can serve as a tool in the toughest of environments, remain low profile and minimalistic and not bling bling showy. Now all the other SS sports models have lost that pedigree and sadly have become flashy show off status jewellery. I truly hope the Explorer line up (including Explorer 1) remain unspoiled.
Some people would never use it as a tool watch but might still buy it. They may be looking for a Rolex and buy it just because it looks and feels outdoorsy.
You’re right, the majority of the people in the fields those Rolex watches are marketed for (diving, mountaineering, spelunking, arctic expedition hiking etc) would wear a sub $1,000 watch (G-Shock, Hamilton, CITIZEN, SEIKO, etc) sometimes tougher and with more features, to do their job. Having said that, those Rolex models still represent a period of mankind where the wrist instrument capability of today (quartz movement, materials, shock absorbent tech etc) was not available and those Rolex models were the pinnacle of what tool watchmaking was all about. In those days those watches were THE ONLY option in those fields. And now they have just kept the legacy and heritage.

In the budget sector, the Seiko SBSC009 (JDM only) is quite nice, ~$400.
I liked the video before I watched because I was sure that it would be excellent🙂
Super thanks Salih

It's also a nice alternative Ismail
Why anyone would wear a Rolex as a tool watch in these days? There are a lot cheap watches which can be described tool watch.

@@gpapa31 well explained. Thank you.
Because for some people (not saying me) $15,000 is what $300 is to you. 2 completely different places in life, 2 completely different mindsets.
