  • We do allot of grading with the mini skids where a full size won’t fit. This side yard was really steep.

Hi sorry I don't know your name..I just found your chanel while I was looking for kubota skid steer ,.
I like your videos so far,you use new equipment and you explain things in an interesting way... would love to see a video about how you started in landscaping and excavation in a camarata style....
    Good luck.

My name is Jason. Thanks for the input. I’ve been thinking about doing a video like that. I’ll try do do one on how I started and maybe an equipment over view on what we use and how we do work with just me and Sammie my daughter.
Thanks for watching. I enjoy watching videos. That’s why I started making them.

The thing is if the mini skid starts to tip over you can kind of help hold it up and avoid a roll over or at the very least just step out of the way. With a larger machine you are along for the ride so to speak.

have you rolled your Vermeer over yet? i think with only a 44" wide track on a slope this steep, you probably are very close to the tipping point of this machine. why didn't you try to level this area up somewhat by cutting the upper area and pushing the dirt to the lower area? i would think that would have made this operation safer for the machine and created a lesser incline to plant grass on.

No never rolled a machine that's a wide stance. If its 42-44" wide its allot more stable than a 36" wide machine.
I couldn't cut any grade off the yard for two reasons. The footing would have been exposed if I did on the back portion of the house and on the front side of the house if you pull elevation out of an area, you have to gain it back somewhere. Meaning if I cut down the side yard toward the front yard then it would be even steeper at the front yard.

can you tell me what the width on that Vermeer is?

Nice work. What's the steepest slope you've had that machine on? I have two upcoming jobs that will require the use of a mini. Thankfully, i have 49" of room bit the slope is 25%+. I know that my dingo can't handle it

Id say it will do it. It has to be a wide track machine and some experience on slopes with them would be best before hitting the limit. But I've been on some pretty steep stuff. That yard was allot steeper than what it looked like on camera.
Ive found the magic number width wise is at least 43-44" or wider then your good.

@@skidco thank you so much for your response. I have zero experience with the mini skid on slopes (I was in Florida for 40 years). I do have experience with the tracked mower (Altoz TSX) on slopes but that's a different animal

Do you notice any speed/power issues when going up hill? My 925 is new to me but seems to slow down quite a bit going up any kind of incline

I build mini skid and excavator attachments. I built it. It will never break on any size machine. And it works really well.
Thanks for checking out my video.
