Maganda lang pakingan yung introduction... Fastest growing...
Start building new source of energy first, then saka natin ikwento ang fastest growing economy narrative...

I disagree sa perspective mo. Building new energy or utilizing energy for Philippines can be leveraged. Kaya importante padin ang edukasyon versus new energy.

Whoever chose the thumbnail for this episode I applaud your choice--whether intentional or not. Richard's goofy smile is funny hahaha!
Japan isn't just the biggest infrastructure investor in our country, it's also the biggest in the entire ASEAN--almost tripling China's investment in the region as of 2023.

Massive infrastructure development, teacher investment, resources beef up, and students who are bright, not so bright, or laggard in studies must be moved up. And also to govt investment on science and technology, mathematics, and development of the industries that Philippines have will change our educational directions

During Marcos Sr., we had PHILIPPINE CENTER FOR ADVANCE STUDIES (PCAS) based in UP Diliman. It was a think tank that gave unified policy recommendations for the President. Maybe something similar could be recognized ... GREETINGS from Baguio... Good job Sen. Gatchalian!

Investors go more to Vietnam than to Ph mainly because of high electricity rates, red tape and corruption.. Salute you Mr Richard for having a good conversation with Sen Gatchalian, covering important topics like education, FDIs, etc..
If I may suggest, invite Prof Magno, former USec of Finance as your guest. You can discuss with her about Economics, Education, Poverty Alleviation and others.

Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian, he is indeed one of our younger goal - results oriented, educated and intelligent public official . He could well be a good candidate for President in 2028.

Richard and Sen. Gatchalian, despite having K-12, our high school curriculum doesn't align with the North American curriculum. Our grade 12 graduates cannot pursue community college in their desired program because our grades 11 and 12 subjects don't match theirs. As a result, children of immigrants must take an additional year of high school to be admitted to community college. A bachelor's degree earned in our country is only equivalent to two years of study in Canada. Only international schools' curricula are aligned with theirs. We need to adjust our senior high subjects to achieve international recognition.

  • @MrBobmarino

We should remove all those unnecessary subjects in our curriculum.

I was just wondering why Sen Gatchalian is still asking why does the Philippines is up to now inferior of foreign investment like semi conductor , alam nya na dapat ang mga important factors na yun. Though at the moment i commend his great job with the POGO Senate hearing/investigation.

The Japanese businesses that left China chose Vietnam over us because the Vietnamese govt supported measures to teach Nihongo to their workforce.
Also, whenever they go to Japan's biggest IT conference, SODEC, the Vietnamese Govt supports their IT companies fully.
When i was still part of the teams helping organise SODEC for the Ph delegation under PSIA, it seems we have to BEG Congress every year for support.
The Gov agencies we work with weren't the problem. Those guys were good and dedicated to helping your IT companies get more work from the Japanese.
    Si Congress yung problem.

One importamt thing you forgot why international manufacturing companies don't want to open up in PH: COST TO OPERATE. Electricity rates in PH is one the most expensive in the region.

People do not see the real problem is the language, example your a Cebuano, illonggo, illocano etc. tapos pagdating mo sa school Ang gagamitin Tagalog at English Wich is di ka sanay sa language na Yan, so all in all you using 3 language kapag nag aaral ka so dun palang Meron na scientific effect Yan magulo na sa utak. Sana Gawin nlang English lahat Ang language of teaching sa school. Kasi Malaki na naitulong satin Ng English in terms of economy, example is call centers, OFW's, mga foreign students na nag.aaral Dito Ng English language. Kaya Malaki Ang naitutulong satin Ng English kesa Tagalog.

Intel used to be in Cavite. But many pinoy managers in iNtel and outside, we're involved in chips for ransom.. and police could not really arrest them as our laws on stealing Nd court due process is too tedious that the law looks favourably to the accused thieves than the complainant who are victims. This went on for years.. and one day Intel received a very good offer from Vietnam. That is why Intel moved to Vietnam and the whole Cavite workforce in iNtel lost their jobs. Very sad but true. Officially Intel just took the Vietnam's offer of free land.. just build a factory and hire Vietnamese-- but privately the real reason is full of thieves in high places and subcontractors stealing from Intel.

Better leadership in education should have thorough knowledge about the system and how to improve them. Why education did not consolidate three areas such as Basic Education, higher education and TESDA in one management, just like before. I think Prof. Clarita Carlos can probably solve this if she is the Sec of Education. Just my idea.
