With your episode, being a Filipino, i have been more garateful to PFEM for his dedication for the good of our country, the Philippines. Truly a brilliant statesman and visionary leader. I coulldnt imagine how influential the Phils is during that period, that EEZ was put into law under unclos. Certainly PBBM will hold on forward this legacy of true love for country and nation building.

There's a video of one general who said during the time of FPFEM no country could build structure on our EEZ. If they report to FPFEM "Sir the Vietnamese, or any neighbor country for that matter, is building a structure at our EEZ, Marcos Sr. would tell them "Destroy it. Bomb it". I saw this video on TH-cam.

Whe l was a small boy, l never heard China claiming the South China Sea. But during that time, Philippine Coadt Guard always caugh illegal fishers mostly Chinese and Vietnamese. Almost every month there's illegal fishers had been jailed in the Provincial Jail but later in 80's to 90's, those caught illegal fishers who stockage in Palawan was always released by the Local Government of Palawan allegedly by order of the higher authorities, after that the strict implementation of Philippine Maritime Law against illegal poachers has vanish until l had observed in the news were the presence of Chinese vessel dominating the South China Sea or West Philippine Sea in particular. During my early high school days, l never heard China claiming the South China Sea. It only started when the World Satilite Monitoring Agency published Newd and pictures of Satelite views indicating that under the South China Sea area Southern Palawan and some of the Malaysian ang Borneo Sea lays the very vast Oil Diposits which is according to the write ups were very much greater that the Midle East's Oil Diposits. Thats the time China creeping to established concrete markers in the South China Sea as mark of their alledgedly Terretorial Claims. But during those time, under the Ferdinand Marcos Sr. Administration, the Chinese vessel were chased by the Philippine Navy and even blown up those markers drop by chinese vesel under the sea. China was No knewn reaction at that time but still try manuevering their strategies...after Marcos Sr. was gone in the Government, thats the
Bigenning of all of these problems we are facing now againt China. So Sad...

After the “Preamble”, next is “Article 1: The National Territory: The national territory comprises the Philippine archipelago, with all the islands and waters embraced therein, and all the other territories belonging to the Philippines by historic right or legal title….”
These are only a few sentences enshrined in our constitution once upon a time that I CAN NEVER FORGET until now…one of the sections of the 1973 constitution REQUIRED to be memorized by students as early as grade 6, in high school, and finally, in college (PHILCON or Philippine Constitution subject, 3 units-a compulsory subject for any bachelor’s degree course back then)…and to be honest, it is quite nostalgic to recall this from memory again🇵🇭
Yes, people now forget, but it was actually Arturo M. Tolentino (Senator, Senate President, Assemblyman, Vice President), one of the most brilliant legal luminaries ever in our history…largely credited to have inserted the “Archipelagic Doctrine” in UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) in 1982…Tolentino was the Chairman of Philippine delegation that time. This is reflected in Part IV of the UNCLOS…governs on how to treat island nation such as the Philippines…in terms of sovereignity…also defines the 200 nautical miles exclusive economic zone…the basis of our now famous 2016 “arbitral award”. I thank your guest for mentioning that.
Prior to UNCLOS, I think there was only the so called “Three-mile limit”, that defines a country’s territorial waters according to the international law of the seas that time, please correct me if i am wrong. That definition simply means, you measure 3 miles from Batangas, that is Philippine water…then you measure 3 miles from Mindoro island that is Philippine water--whatever in between that is international water, interesting!
I think the phrase “BY HISTORIC RIGHTS” was eventually removed by the framers of 1987 “Cory”constitution, effectively dropping our claim of Saba…SAD.😂😂😂
Thank you prof. and for your guest, Professor Dr. Jay Batongbacal for educating your listerners for such a very important and relevant topic. 🇵🇭😎♥️

✔️Kudos & Congrats nice topic & in depth discussion.. 👏
    Real talk... observation
It's only when your blog titles include(praises) bbm or Marcos Sr your viewership reaches 20k up in just few days. Like other bloggers (mostly unknown/unexperienced) who speaks loyalties & positive views to Marcoses gets 40k up in just day.
It only means the super majority of Filipinos really want a positive political change.
    Patriots arise..
    Change we can🌄🇵🇭👏

Long before... it is us Filipinos (Austronesian decent) who were the real people of the sea surrounding Philippines (from the time of Sulu Sultanate to Maharlikan Kingdom)... that's why we have people who were very much dark skin toned due to long exposure to sun light at sea... to a point where they were able to evolve and develop a mutated lungs that has much larger air capacity than the usual land dwellers... they were able to walk and fish on the seafloor using spear without any aid of floatation and breathing devices... The big word evidence here is "They EVOLVED" ... meaning... this has been going on for a long long time... (featured on National Geographic Channel)
While you white skin toned China people ...on that ancient time period.... wouldn't wanna go down the Mountain valleys because you pretty much enjoy the comfort of cold weather on the upper High Lands of China... that's why your skin is poreless and white ... that is caused by your body's adaptation to cold weather similar to other people who experiences winter in their homelands.
So.... DON'T GIVE US THE NARRATIVES THAT... CHINA & NOT THE PHILIPPINES... ARE THE LONG STANDING SEA PEOPLE WHO WAS BEEN FISHING AND NAVIGATING THOSE SEA WATER ...AND THE TRUE OWNER OF THAT PORTION OF THE SEA... BECAUSE THAT NARRATIVES IS CLEARLY FAKE, FALSE, & DELIBERATE MISINFORMATION FROM CHINESE BOT.
IT IS US FILIPINOS FROM THE 🇵🇭 PHILIPPINES...WHO WERE THE AUSTRONESIAN PEOPLE... THE ONES LIVING BY THOSE SEA...

What the Philippines has to do now is to stick to its policy of not giving an inch of its territory to the Chinese, remember the Scarborough stand-off folks! Stay courageous and firm, soon there will be another stand-off at the oil and gas-rich Reed Bank inside the Philippine 200-mile Exclusuve Economic Zone. Stay brave Filipinos or else there is nothing more left of the Philippine islands to the agressive occupations of this big bully of Asia.

    This Conversation is very informative
It is also timely to know how Former President Marcos Sr did for the WPS for the benefit for our nation. Its stop due to does dilawan who put the guard down for the WPS and some people praise cory as a saint due to a ideology people power etc. This is also a slam see how Marcos did its effort and governance official that time and the current administration to protect our rights on the WPS.
In the end we must all unite for the Benifits for our motherland 🇵🇭

No, PNoy never put his guard down. No, President Cory wasn't considered a saint. Only pulahan claims such.
makoy was simply at the right time when UNCLOS was convened. He didn't initiate UNCLOS, it didn't take place in Manila. No big deal. Any president would do the same.
