If you want to watch “The Hunted,” purchase the Blu-Ray and DVD using the TH-cam Shopping feature, which appears as be a pop-up in this Short breakdown. Every purchase helps the channel. You can also watch our Full Breakdown of “The Hunted” fight scene between Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro for more fun. With that being said, here is a quick written breakdown of the unique design of the Tom Brown Tracker Knife. 1) The Chopping Blade - This part of the blade allows the knife to work as a mini-axe. The forward section of the knife is weighted, which makes it a powerful chopping tool. The handle allows various hand positions for different types of chopping power. 2) The Carving Blade - The Carving Section of the blade is to accomplish most carving chores and splitting wood. The Draw Knife of the Carving Blade can be used for fast stock and can help with making a bow and such. 3) The Quarter Rounder - This is the rounder portion of the blade and it can be used to round the edge of a bow or even open the body cavity of a large game. 4) The Saw - The Saw blade can saw wood, but we like it for notching, scoring and wire breaking. 5) The Point - The Knife point is extremely thick and powerful. You can easily thrust into a car door with enough force. It’s also a great engraving tool on bone or antler. Overall, it’s a great survival knife that is extremely durable, but we won’t recommend it for anything other than survival. What other knives from movies should we breakdown next?
Dude, I loved "The Hunted" when it first came out! Saw it in theaters, and could summarize the entire film to my friends as, "a cat and mouse thriller with tons of chase scenes and knife fights throughout." I'm gonna have to re-watch it ASAP.
You can train to lift more weight with greater ease, but you can never negate the impact of carried weight upon your endurance. Bushcraft/survival gear is always engineered with a full pack and long journey in mind. You'd be surprised how much difference a third of a pound can make, and there should be no question that making multiple concessions on weight for the sake of utility will royally screw you in the end. The real answer? Train to do more with less.
I have it in Damascus steel it’s amazing knife . I haven’t seen that movie didn’t even know there was a move with it in it . I do a lot of hiking n camping it’s amazing knife to have .
Defiantly check out the movie sometime, it's not everyones baja blast but if nothing else the fight and chase scenes are awesome. It's kinda like if Rambo had someone that was his equal chasing after him in the first movie.
Excellent video! I would like to suggest to Logan to do a breakdown on the unique design of the Halo Energy sword. The sword is designed to trap another sword in. Some questions are 1) Any benefits? 2) Cons? 3) If the sword was made out of metal instead of the insta-melt plasma, would it be a viable weapon?
For another utility type blade, i recommend the mini x from zombie go boom. Good for chopping Good for slashing Good for bushwork as well as killing zombies (zgbstudios made it specifically for the zombie apocalypse scenario) And full tang
If I remember correctly he was taught how to make that knife to use in a survival situation/fashion, it may be heavy but the other uses outweigh its weight.
Sadly the original knife used in The Hunted was the Red Scorpion 6 that has been discontinued I believe. Tom Brown made his own version of it which I still think is good.
the knife from the movie was actually a wsk(wilderness survival knife)by dave beck but essentially the same they might have even collaborated to design them
Personally as someone not trained in combat, the intimidation factor would scare me off. That looks like a scary weapon. Depends on the wielder too I guess
In the movie It looks more like the tracker number two the smaller brother to the one you have number two is a lot easier to use because it’s smaller but not as devastating but it’s a lot easier to use and carry.
There are those who love and others that hate this knife. Once you get past the movie prop critics it is a very useful tool. I own two of them, I never go to the goods without.
Despite it being small it looks like it would be heavy. In a survival situation it would be a decent splitter or fire starter but chopping would drain ones energy quickly.
Great critique ! Got here from the Rambo Knife Short for this channel. This is definitely NOT a weapon ! In the movie, The Revenant, Leonardo DiCaprio used a stilleto to stab at the bear ... you can puncture with the Tracker knife but the tip is too broad for stabbing; the blade won't go deeper than a puncture. Everything also said about the knife is accurate: I've used the wire cutter, notch-making spine for ... making notches for traps and chopping and cutting are definitely magnified by the weight ... I've chopped down 8 inch diameter treelings with this knife ... you'll be there for ever chopping with the Rambo knife. Also, the Tracker Knife has a Topps Manufacture sheath that is rugged and has a pocket for a sharpening stone, small rag and oil dropper. Great critique. Thumbs up.
I have this knife and its one of the heaviest knives I've every bought. I customized mine with a serrated teeth behind the carving edge. My spine and cutting blade are thinned out and it made the knife so much lighter.
It was never advertised as a fighting knife in the movie The Hunted, the entire point was that this guy was one of the most trained knife fighters in the entire world, as evidenced by the fact that the second Tommy Lee Jones picks up a simple broken stick in his hand, he becomes the equal of Benicio Del Toro's steel blade wielding assailant.
As both a student of Inosato Kali and and Bushcraft I have to agree and disagree. I agree, it's a bad weapon. I only disagree about "getting it" for survival. It seems cool in theory but in practice it's "tacticool".
The "Tom Brown Tracker" is mostly just a gimmick designed by Tom Brown Jr. To capitalize on the success of the Hunted movie. The original Tracker was actually designed by Rob Russo. And through various miscommunications etc. Was stolen by the Brown family. The knife seen in the Hunted movie is actually what we consider to be the "real" Tracker knife and the Holy Grail of Tracker knives. That is the Beck WSK. Beck perfected the Tracker knife. It's much more ergonomic, it has a 3/16 blade stock so it's significantly lighter than the T1 Tracker from Tops. And Beck added the true quarter round hook that gives the Tracker its particular appearance. But to get your hands on an original Beck you're probably going to spend the better part of $2000 to get one. The T1 Tracker by Tops is pretty much just a boat anchor. If you're picking up a Tracker from Tops get the T3 Tracker instead. It's slightly smaller, significantly lighter, better steel and overall much more useful.
There was never a saw or an edge for notching ever implied or intended in the movie. Was also quite detailed in it's description as well. Instead of a saw it should be a serrated edge along the spine.
Tracker knives, whether they're Tom Brown or not, are the BEST knives. And the version used in The Hunted was a SMALLER model, what they call a T2(it goes from 1-4). T1 is the biggest. T2 is smaller. T3 is in between a T2 and a T1. T4 is micro(very small).

Pls, talk about Krauser's knife from Resident Evil 4
How heavy is it?
@@ghostvendetta076321oz without sheath, 26oz with the sheath. Therefore about a 1lb and a 1/2.
Wouldn’t the notch saw be a con too? Get caught up on cloth?
@@Madx1383 doubt anyone is using the notch side as a weapon, considering your so concerned about it getting caught
Logan's date: Movies? I guess I saw The Hunted recently-
Logan: Let's talk about the pros and cons of Tom Brown's tracker knife!
Get another one, attach chains, then shout "ARES!!!"

The Hunted. A childhood favorite of mine.
This is just a mini blade of chaos
Dude, I loved "The Hunted" when it first came out! Saw it in theaters, and could summarize the entire film to my friends as, "a cat and mouse thriller with tons of chase scenes and knife fights throughout." I'm gonna have to re-watch it ASAP.
Such a great film! We had a fun time breaking down that fight scene between Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro.
First Blood's cousin
“You see the scopes they were using? They weren’t hunters LT, they were sweepers.”
Fuck I love that movie, I think I’m going to watch it today.
"it's great. I wouldn't use it in a fight though." ladies and gentlemen, Hollywood.
Many years ago I trained with stalking wolf's grandson tom brown junior, One of the world's greatest trackers and survivalists.
I still go back and watch the full breakdown of the Hunted
It was a fun breakdown to film for sure.
Train it til it's light
You can train to lift more weight with greater ease, but you can never negate the impact of carried weight upon your endurance. The point of this kife is a jack of all trades. Reducing weight of multiple tools@@Avelcaine
I'd use it as a weapon over keeping another knife just to use as a weapon. However i'd keep anything but a knife before using it.
That's the Blades of Chaos on level 1 😎
Lol I was looking for a comment like this 😂

Shout out to all those who had the pleasure of training and learning from Tom Brown Jr. 🐺
Id be really interested in a short of you showing how to make snares and traps with the various utility knives you've shown
Love the content guys. I actually learn something here ❤
One of my favorite movies
Love this knife! This movie is what got me into knives in the first place! As a kid who was wayyyy to young to watch it I was hooked lol
For another utility type blade, i recommend the mini x from zombie go boom.
Good for chopping
Good for slashing

Hey, you sometimes dig with your knife, dig it into dirt or a tree or whay have you. If youre into bush crafting and such
Ooo man. Love this movie, let's go out back and make one ..
Hands down my favorite knife

I love this knife
Kratos knife kratos knife 😅
The Blades of Chaos might be fun 🤔
@ScenicFights good idea 💡
LOVE this movie
Interesting design
Make the blade longer, and it would be great during a zombie apocalypse
Next breakdown: The Princess Bride.
I love that knife,
Seen that movie YEARS ago lol but yes, it's a dope knife
Best knife ever, been my daily carry 11 years
U sold me on that one. I want one
There are those who love and others that hate this knife. Once you get past the movie prop critics it is a very useful tool. I own two of them, I never go to the goods without.
Great video, guys. Love it.

Fyi I stopped to make my comment before the man mentioned it being heavy.
This guy will never ever have to use any knife against anybody. If he does, he will go to jail
i would really want you to break down the doomblade from doom eternal.
To fight you need the smaller models, unless you are very strong. Supposedly they used the T-3 in the movie.
Can you please break down some fights from the tv show Victorious please? Thanks..Lol lol lol
Victorious has fight scenes!?
Lol that would be amazing haha😂
Well there are a few fights I saw in it

Can you guys do the executions from Titanfall2?
Amazing movie
Looks like a mini sword of choas
tom brown completely stole the design from an humble old guy, think the industry should stop using his name at this point
Correct. Robb Russon designed the knife & Tom Brown lied when he said he designed it.
Can you break down the makeshift stone 🔪 that Tommy Lee Jones’ character made for himself and taught his students to make?
It's a good weapon, not great but good. It definitely beats not having anything.
Could you guys do ash Williams chainsaw hand (day 1)
The originals weren't as heavy as the Tops version. It was primarily designed as a tool.
My lord i am in love with that knife, its so weird and so many pros and im trying tobget into bushcraft
You missed the gut hook and scraping/skinning parts of the blade.
Something similar is used in Iko Uwais' movie Headshot
Mini blades of chaos
The tom brown mini tracker definitely could be used as a fighting knife, much smaller and lighter
Can use the notcher to create nocks for a bow as well.
You guys should break down the use of the dual Ulak knives by Riddick in the Chronicles of Riddick!
I have messed around with this knife a bit. I agree. Great survival knife, or camping knife, mediocre combat knife.
Some of the movie was shot where I live.
"Heavy" is relative to the strength of the person wielding it. So the one con is no issue for some folks. I really need to pick up a couple of these.
and it was never designed for combat , just as outdoorsman that could do everything
ALWAYS use full tang
Movie is fckn awesome
Blade of Chaos mini💀
I always thought they were to mimic/update the kujang.

Don't get me wrong it is a nice design but I like the MSK-1 Survival Knife or APO-1T better in that particular style of weapon
Use scarecrows syringe glove from Batman please🙏🙏🤩
The way all your pros combine that knife would make a good halberd head.
You can definitely use a survival knife as a fighting knife, but you can't make a fighting knife into a survival knife
The glaze
As both a student of Inosato Kali and and Bushcraft I have to agree and disagree. I agree, it's a bad weapon.

There hasn't been a movie on par with The Hunted when it comes to knife combat.

What’s your fav weapon u have reviewed?
I got one I love it
Apparently it’s an excellent throwing knife.
do the escene of kakashi and obito pls
Is there a real/actual difference, other than maybe weight, between the stone (home-made) and the metal (actual) version?
There's like three versions of the tracker and all vary in size.
They didn't actually use that knife in the movie. It was the original prototype. Which I like better😅
I thought it had a tracker in it. Let’s not focus on why I thought that.
A full size bowie knife is heavier, if you train with it, the Tom Brown knife feels light.
How much damage would it do as a stabbing weapon with a reverse grip, though?
Do karl ruperch kronens tonfas form hellboy, 2004 I think, the first one.
