Synaptic transmission I The Synapse I How Neurons Communicate

- How do nerve cells talk to each other? In this video, Dr. Kushner covers synaptic transmission. Synaptic transmission is the process by which neurons communicate with each other in the nervous system. It occurs across synapses ("synaptic cleft"), which are small gaps between neurons.
Corrections - 7:08 I incorrectly use the word "dock" to describe calcium's effect on vesicles. Docking is a very specific term used to describe the process by which vesicles are brought close to the presynaptic membrane in preparation for the release of neurotransmitters.

This is such an underrated channel, explanations about everything is so good. I've noticed that you don't upload videos very often but i beg you to please make more videos, i know you might be busy but as a student i really like your teaching method. It's really short and simple and you also give plenty memory tricks and other related facts which is very helpful. Sir you make everything easy to understand and drawings are just so perfect, the texts are so pretty at first i thought it was presentation but when i carefully noticed it was manually done. Your presentation is so subtle and you don't waste time in the beginning of your videos which is perfect.
If it is possible for you i would like to request other various major/famous topics from different psychology fields (such as history of psychology, social psychology, about some famous psychologist and their work, some famous theories, etc) i would really like to learn more from you. As dumba** students we need you, sir😭🙏🏻(those who agree please like my comment so this wonderful teacher realise that how many students want to learn from him) [also those videos about AP exam was really good you explained every option and as I'm preparing for entrance exam those kinds of Q-A videos really helped me, thank you sir]
Such a kind post! I appreciate it. Yes, I will consider expanding my content to social psychology. Any specific topics or concepts you are interested in??
@@PsychExplained if you could explain some theories by various psychologists, that would be great! Thank you for considering my request.😇
This has made neurotransmission simple for me to understand 😮😮😮
LOVED the way you explained this. Great video. Thank you!
You did a great job explaining the topic 👏👏👏
Glad it was helpful!
ive ben struggling with this for a while. thanks for the video
Happy to help!
Thank you, boss
I have read it so many times to understand better and have given up every time,🫣 but this explanation is life-changing. Everything is so clear and organized; I absorbed every word.
Thank you 🙏
What about potassium?
Yep. Those channels will open after depolarization and return the neuron to a resting membrane potential (RMP).
@@PsychExplained thanks for the explanation. PS Im really grateful for this video, it's really comprehensive
@@PsychExplainedso if im understanding correctly. After the neurotransmission has occured the potassium repolarizes the presynaptic neuron by entering said neuron?
