The channels/receptors that neurotransmitters open are specific to that given neurotransmitter. For example, glutamate opens glutamate receptors, GABA opens GABA receptors and so on. As far as I know, I do not know if there is a ligand-gated channel that exclusively lets potassium go through but assuming there is.. opening that channel would prevent the transmission of the action potential because it will hyperpolarize the cell (+ charges will leave). Hope that clarifies it a bit!
One suggestion: Please use Comic Sans (in case you want to make it not boring) .. Bcz the Font Style used here.. though not boring.. is difficult to read in that size .. So.. Please consider this!
