i want the person who filmed this to know that by putting this up on the internet is the best thing they have ever done in their life (besides having kids maybe) and that they just made me incredibly happy.
2:21 Tomas shows up 3:36 Ungrateful (first horn section as intro) 4:15 Sick and Sad 7:24 Walking Away 12:00 As the Footsteps die out forever 16:35 Dear Sergio (first 45 seconds)
I'm drunk so had to listen back and it really is the into to a Streetlight song! I feel like I'm listening to the future and the past at the same time. Great Scott!!!!!!!!!
Funny story, first time I ever had a w33d, I was talking about music, and said "you know, Ungrateful really sounds like a Keasbey song, not a Hands song..." And my friend sent me this recording saying "you're right!" That copy has been taken off yt, so I've been sounding like a crazy person until this popped up in my feed, thank you!
Thanks for posting this 2019! Favorite band since the summer of 95.. Saw them live after Thomas left .. in the early 2000s. Glad they kept playing. Cuz they are all music heroes ! Keasbey nights ! Best album ever! ✌️ 🎸 gracias amigo
A great vid for a variety of reasons but if 96 is correct and wikipedia is correct that would make Tomas only 15 here!! The guy is definitely a prodigy but this video also shows the tension in the band within the first few minutes which is really interesting to see and shows some insight as to why one of the best ska punk bands ever broke up so soon. EDIT: So this is definitely not May 96, I read an interview with Kevin the Trumpet player and he says he joined in Sept 96 which is when the band decided to do ska. I also do not think this can be May 98 because Keasbey Nights was already out and it is clear from this performance they did not have an album out with Sergio and Walking Away being called "new songs". I'm thinking the flyer and the video are unrelated at this point and I would say this video is most likely from 97
Your reasoning is solid, however I’ve found a show archive for May 24th, 1998. I believe that Tomas said Walking and Sergio were new because unlike the other songs, they weren’t on the Rules of the Game EP, and were new to Keasbey
Rad! I saw Tomas with Catch 22 once. 1998, outside of a record store in Illinois. I think he left the band within the following month. Catch 22 returned to the Fireside a bit later, and upon seeing Jeff, Pat Caplin (who was on bass for that show), and a guitarist we’d never see again, I still loved ‘em. But this is awesome to see!
I think this may be the show I scared Tomas by introducing myself as Psycho? (Small wonder.) They played here all the time (as did everyone) and this video doesn’t give quite an accurate gage of quite who sweaty and stinky it got. They played a show in August of this year I can still remember as among the most dehydrating of my life. Also May 97 jibes with my own memory of this show. (Which would have made them 16 - along with myself; I was very jealous.)
It was either this night or the August show they played an incubational “9mm and a Three Piece Suit” and I remembered thinking the LP was going to be great (me and 1,999 others, of course).
@@SkankmundFreud Nope. It's 1998. The link in the description of this video sends you to a flyer posted on Reddit for this show with the date "Sunday May 24th". In 1996 May 24th was a Friday, but in 1998 May 24th was a Sunday.
Ska is the most talented music out there to perform. Takes mad skill to pump out that ska/punk sound. It's a blast to be in that crowd skanking all night long.
This needs to be preserved somewhere so we never lose it
Amazing find! Never seen a live performance of Catch 22 featuring Thomas before. Awesome!

That's Tomas!??!? I coulda swore he was on bass but I was like "that would be weird". He looks different!
Not going to lie, it took me till seeing this comment to place the intro bit as ungrateful. Gave me the chills when I heard it in this video
@@kevinswift8654 no he looks exactly how he's always looked, he's just not a skinny 15 year old anymore

Glad they introduced everybody. 15:51. These 5 are great, and it's great to see some footage of them together. I did miss Ryan.
East Brunswick what’s up
Like everybody else in the comment section, I'm amazed that you found a Catch 22 performance with Tomas in it, and I greatly appreciate it. Thank you
3:35 Ungrateful!!!
Holy shit dude, I've been looking for catch 22 featuring Tomas for years. Such a rare find! Thank you so much.

Thomas looks like he’s dressing up as buddy Holly lol
Some of the rare footage during the tohmas days. It is harder to find. this should be protected and preserved for the future.
This is gold
Thank you very much for this video!
Man so awesome to see ska at its finest, Catch 22 should be up there!? 😎👍🏽🕴️

At least now we know Thomas bought his one T-shirt some time after 1997
