Yeah, with the introduction of two new lines, now mail express trains pass through Mumbra Kalwa… off course for few days… later on they will skip these two stations and will pass through Parsik Tunnel 👍

There were already 6 lines between Diva and Kalyan. With the completion of the 5th and 6th line between Thane and Diva, there are now 6 line from Vikhroli to Kalyan.
Express trains which start from LTT mostly travels via Parsik Tunnel while mostly the CSTM/Dadar lot uses Kalwa-Mumbra route. However this is not a rule and controllers can switch trains between the 2 alignments according to the traffic enroute.

It means now this train covers the distance approaximately 193 Km From Mumbai CSMT Towards Pune Because When The Train was Passing Through Parsik Tunnel then it was Taken 190 Kms
Yes. For short Journeys Double decker trains are the best. However, in this route I doubt if Double Decker coaches are given Commission of Railway Safety(CRS) clearance to pass through the Bhor ghats between Karjat & Lonavala (Welcome to be corrected). This is mostly due to upper clearance of DD coaches.
No idea behind what's the rationale behind cancellation of Pragati or when it will be restored. However at some point Pragati(or a new train) will be needed especially considering that this was the lone train via Panvel and had good patronage. With the opening of the 5th & 6th line, slot issues also won't be there.

This was onboard 11009 Sinhagad Express. Usually the trains in this route have good food onboard boarded from various station enroute. I was looking forward for the Veg. Cutlets, Saboodhana Vada and Bread Omelette. But sadly there was no food onboard. There was only few Tea and Coffee vendor. Hence I had to adjust with the Vada Pav from Karjat😁 Thank you for the good words😇
The originating station for all trains to Pune is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj terminus (CSMT) viz not close to the airport. Dadar is another station where most Trains towards Pune stop. This place is comparatively closer than CSMT. Few trains also originate from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), this station close to the airport. 😇
New lines are in along the alignment with earlier slow lines via Kalwa-Mumbra. As now some express trains take this new alignment than the earlier Parsik tunnel route, these Express trains travel 2KM more than earlier. Same is the case for Fast locals which used to travel by Parsik Tunnel which will take the lengthier route via Kalwa-Mumbra from now.

@@trainsandjourneys Yes, as per the video it appeared to be a longer route. However, the Parsik tunnel route required trains to pass at a slow speed. The train was just speeding away on the new route. As a result, the longer route should not have a major impact
@@mervinfernandes8763 True. The train went at a great speed the entire stretch. It was only before Diva Jn that our train slowed down. It looks that there was a temporary speed restriction. Hope that the restriction is lifted soon.

Train timings have changed. Pragati Express and Shayadri Express at present stands cancelled and 11009 Sinhagad Express is now having a late departure from CSMT at 17.50, running in the same slot as the now cancelled 11023 Sahyadri Express.
Kindly observe the route from Thane to Diva in this video. You will notice the train in now going through Kalwa-Mumbra instead of the usual Parsik tunnel route😇

The first double decker train in India was from pune to Mumbai. Why did they discontinue it???
Mostly due to lack of patronage immediately after the opening of Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Even the Shatabdi had the same fate. Open to be corrected.😇

It will be the best idea to USE DOUBLE DECKER COACHES for short journeys on every busy routes like this one.
